Title: DDr3 5770 vs DDr5 5770
Post by: shakaru on July 29, 2011, 01:51:22 AM
Is there any difference in hash performance between these two type of 5770s?

No memory bandwith is not a constraining factor for bitcoin mining and therfore will have no impact on performance.

I don't think memory matters too much I think its all bout shaders. I have a ddr5 5770 and get 220mh @ 950/300

I highly doubt that this card is a 5770 by looking at the pic, 5770 is not a weak card with super low heat output, and this little cooler will melt on a 5770 on full load.
It's probably a 5570 and someone did a typo, and didn't correct it yet.

Just look at all the related products.

The model number they list: Model# 5570PE31GSB is a 5570

Agreed, no way that is a 5770:
- they don't come with DDR3 memory
- the pathetic little heatsink on the picture could never handle the 100W of heat a 5770 puts out under load
- the pcb on the picture is just wrong for a 5770 (too simple, too empty, too short ...)
- finally, the model number leaves no doubt

Looking at what I can see of the box, and looking at the part number and SKU I'd say that's a mis-labeled 5570 as well.

Quote
SKU GV-R557OC-1GI

Nope, another 5570. Don't believe us, even after you check the model number 1bitc0inplz already pointed out? Here, from Gigabyte's own site: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3344#ov (google model # GV-R557OC-1GI)
And here, from Diamond's site, the card you ordered: http://www.diamondmm.com/5570PE31G.php (google model # 5570PE31GSB)

Seriously, the card you ordered is not a 5770, that's 100% certain. This other one is not a 5770 either, also 100% certain. Save yourself the $ and cancel your order.
