I just logged into my linkedin account first time in ages, looked at my connections network and got an idea...

There are quite a few of well "connected" people here with surely a large number of smart, active and influential individuals in their linkedin networks. Imagine what kind on effect would we create collectively if we all update our profiles with some information about our bitcoin projects etc...

Any thoughts?

I doubt there are many well "connected" people on this forum.  Bitcoin is way too underground to be of any interest for the establisment.  They just don't have time to wander on the net and to find it by chance.

Personnaly I'm almost certain I would never have discovered bitcoin if I had kept my previous job.   Or I would have discovered it in the same time than everyone, only once it is discussed in mainstream media.

IMO

There are definitely people in linkedin in the financial world, trading and all who are potentially interested in Bitcoins. I personally am pleasantly surprised at how it is received even by non IT or non Financial people.
It will be a development more than all in one go. There are country specific social networks that I plan to advertise/mention BTC. Am confident in being able to arrange a meetup to introduce the topic. Explaining it and introducing it in front of an audience needs more preparation...

We only need one on linkedin to spread it to two connections. Linkedin is used by many looking for jobs, albeit in a corporate environment. BTC facilitates to the extreme how an individual person can be compensated for their services and encourages people to work for themselves. Paradoxally, a first step for linkedin would be a head/job hunter? I will help you get a job in exchange for BTC?
If you have some BTC, you can use Linkedin to display your needs (secretary, accounting, IT services, financial services etc) and that you will pay in BTC? (with a link to a stunning explanation of BTC of course)
If you have no BTC, you can use LInkedin to display what you offer and that you accept BTC.

Funny you mention LinkedIn.  They sent me a coupon code for $100 in free advertising so I set up an ad a couple days ago that points to bitcoin.org

So far 24360 impressions and 6 clickthroughs.  It's setup to target members of these groups:
Open Source
INNOVAHUB Open Innovation and Crowdsourcing
Micropayments
Online micropayments
MicroPayments aggregation
Forex Trading
Forex Professionals around the World
Forex | Currency Trading
Forex Magnates (http://www.forexmagnates.com)

I think it would be better to point at http://bitcoinme.com/ and don't mention anything about it being gold or decentralized. That might get more clicks. xD

If there is a Bitcoin group on LinkedIn, joining it would be a good first step.
