Maybe you will have some profits in short term..

But every project need a good team, marketing, developers..
Not just a good idea..

In the long term many projects will fail..

Yes, you are right. Some people invest in some coins and they not even know what is the concept or the team behind the project. This is what I used to do when I was a newbie and I had known cryptocurrencies recently. However these coins can be useful for traders in short-term. Some worthless coins can be more profitable than potential coins in short term because of pumps and dumps. Some coins with low market cap can be easily manipulated by whales.

For everyone to invest, i think there should be a good research, one needs to gather some info about the project which include: how strong the team are, also the quality of their product, whether it is future usable.

The main thing is that you have to tell yourself not to invest in attractive design and marketing hooks, you should only invest in a final product. If a project doesn't have a product, it isn't even worth your attention. Of course, design and other related things are important, as they show the developers' real treatment of their project, but focus on the main things.

I think there are so many parameters which have great affects on the campaigns. Before any kind of investments, I think all of the traders should know how to do a detailed research about icos.

Yes i agree with you, in addition to that, you should know the projects main  purpose, usage and benefits to the investors and developers and will it have a good positive impact in the whole crypto ecosystem that would most likely deliver a more secure and safe quality goods and services to the end users. That's why Facebook Google and Twitter bans crypto ads because people are just pouring their cash into something that they doesn't think about, all they know is that crypto ICO will make them rich, unfortunately, 90% of them are scams so in the end, they are going to lose because they didn't make enough research on a certain project.

We have been telling this all along, do your homework, research everything about the project.  The team behind, the whitepaper, roadmaps etc. Because its your hard earn money, you need to be careful so that it will not be burned that easy.

I totally agree on this, and guilty of buying any coin I see. I learned that to be able to get a good coins demand a lot of reading. Look for reviews and people's opinion about that kind og project.I have now coins that already dump in value and cant decide wether I'll sell it now ir still wait for it to boost in price. The team who works in the project really matters,  they should be actively involve specially in updating investors.

Actually I never buy an ICO token, i just wait until they hit the exchange sometimes the price cheaper than the ICO price, and by that i can guess if they really have something to do with the token or they just create token to make money for them.

I disagree, it's perfectly acceptable to trade in dodgy coins long as your not mistaken that they're a load of rubbish and hand them off soon as you've taken the desired profit. There's been a couple of ICOs I Invested in upon further research to find they were a bag of trash but still made a profit because I wasn't greedy when selling them.

I still agree with the post. As long you are investing. The better the longer. I long term for really good project you are a winner. Instead buying coin, prefer talking about investing long term vs buying coin

First, one must understand the project they are planning to invest it, do some research, if you cant read complete whitepaper, try for 1pager or technical paper.
Look out for the team behind it, there partners, and how good they are in marketing as well.

A lot of people get trap in pumps and dumps, they invest without having the slightest idea about where they are investing and what is the project about.

Trading will not gain steady income, and even it makes our money value is unstable if we have that money in form of altcoins. There is no certain conditions of those altcoin. All is depends on God and its project. All investors are really need to read the Whitepaper first before invest their money in any altcoin.

Proper research definitely needs to be done on whatever coin you wish to buy. So that you won't end up buying a shit coin. Although there are coins good to short term investments, while some are good for long term investment.

Of course, they will fail, but there are very promising projects with a strong team and a good idea. And with technology really necessary to the world. You just need to be able to choose very high-quality projects.

this is the reality. Crypto projects are presenting serious value to the world, but only a tiny fraction will survive once the market truly blossoms.

The amount of research needed to put into a project to make an investment decision is extensive and even, something better could pop up 2 weeks later.

The majority of icos participants are using short pump momentump to go out from there as fast as possible after the price of coin will reach the ico price and it should have given them all decent profit because they are all buying at big bonus.

Over the time focus seems changed on many investors,  only aim is how many folds I can make it. That tendency has developed just because most of the projects never have product delivered yet even after 1 yr of ICO.  

If you are investing in an ico project, you should already know the risk that the ico project can fail. So you have to be smart in choosing ico to invest.

Little buffer because it is not entirely a project that you think is worthless it really is not worth, I mean maybe in the eyes of others it is quite valuable to invest, there are many different perspectives that may vary because from what I experienced is the opinion of people who may be wrong.

The reason is most project that launched in the market have a high promissing return but have no intension for long term running or no real product and most people that buying that kind of coins didnt know what the concept of the project they buy because of thinking of good return but in the end thw project will shutdown.

I agree with that. For a project to be developed, it needs a dedicated team, powerful partnership and tireless advertisement from the project for them to be recognized. I also do some short trades and grabbing shit coins when they were just added to an exchange. When it reaches my target, I sell those for a profit. Those altcoins just become worthless if the team just turn their back with the project and move to another project.

people need to inform their self to buy and investing in legit projects, it makes the crypto community survive and growth, but if majority people in community are just so greedy and self central they can kill the cryptocurrencies and gave it back to the 1 percent.

Well, not all the competitors will win. One wins, another stands first runner up, other second runner up and so on. Every project gets progress by performance. So in case of cryptocurrencies, not all coins will do better and survive. Some of them will fail. So the best way to choose good coin is do research.

To avoid big risk in investment of crypto better put money in all opportunity. I was put my money in to ICO, swing trading of crypto,  and also other asset like gold and stock. Because to put all money in 1 single asset is very risky and make posible lose all of money.

In my experience here in bitcointalk, although there some chances that you are going to be rich in buying coins from ICOs, there is also a big chance that you are going to lose. So for me, Id buy the sure coins already in the market that are still cheap but has a lot of potential. This way, I avoid less failure than just buying any coins out there.

As in any business, there is a risk. And it does not matter whether this is related to the cryptocurrency or not. To build own company from scratch (I'm not talking about large-scale projects with billions of investments) is very difficult and risky. Of course not many will survive. But let's hope for the best.

I just dont get it,why would people investing to these type of shit projects around the community? is our common sense are gone? because IMO those people who are getting scammed are the ones which who arent doing a lot of research before investing that is why at the end of the day they are getting scammed.

How do you distinguish "worthless" projects from worthwile? I've seen plenty of hero and seniors here wearing DiW token and other signatures, but isn't that just a good old hype? But people will follow.

At the same time, I've recently come across a VR project with a working prototype, but they didn't even have enough money for ICO and had to close the whole campaign. They're from Belarus, BTW. Really worth investing, and didn't even reach the market.

I subscribe to this as well. The team, partnerships, etc are some of the most important indicators of a coin/token's true potential. Not to say you can't make money on some of the coin's that ultimately won't make it, but that's like holding a grenade with the pin pulled. I'd much rather research and hold a solid project with proper support.

People usually fall to the phenomenon that is known as hivemind, whereby they see a lot of people interested in a project and they want to follow the crowd. Their though process is usually that if a lot of people are into this coin then it must be good and they end up not doing any research into it which is why a lot of people still invest in scam coins.

It will not be enough to buy only 1 coin in the crypto currency world. It is very difficult to know which of the many tokens is the right investment. There is not a single coin when there are multiple options.

You have not really tackle the issue with your writeup... You fail to outline the kind of ico people should invest in and the ones they should run away from. Having said that, some ICOs might not worth it in the short term but in the long term they might pick up big time while some will pick up now now and in the long term they will fail. Rebel started well in their short term and now what we are seeing is not favourable.

We can't just stop buying the altcoins out of the fear met. I think there has to be proper research behind every altcoins that we choose. Just imagine those who invested in the altcoins which are now in top 100 today are receiving the rewards for that isn't it? I mean altcoins are like jackpots, we have to keep trying hard for them and if you end up hitting top 50 coins then obviously you are very very rich by that time.  :P

Your idea is correct. Now many projects have no value, but people have blinded their interests and blindly invested. Many people have even made investments in large numbers without even reading the white paper!

But there are some good shit coins that are pumping anytime. I would try to see and buy a good shitcoin then wait for it to pump. Surely I can get a good profit from those.

make sure that you make a research first.
go to their social media pages, read white paper especially roadmap.
join there telegram if theres any.

It's definitely true that people jump in and buy a coin just because it is currently being hyped, regardless of whether or not it's a good project. This I think is more due to FOMO than laziness - we all know that price moves can be very rapid, and in the time it takes to learn about a project, the price can rise so much that it's no longer worth buying in.
So I understand why people do it, and I myself have probably also been guilty of this in the past, but really it is not a good idea. There is plenty of good stuff out there, and in general it is better to know what you are buying into rather than just throwing money at whatever is currently rising.

Of course you say the right thing. If you take the coins for long-term, you only need to choose what to buy. But sometimes you can just earn by buying and selling the right coin at the right time.

Just take my example, when I invested in the project REMME project then I did notice one thing, they have perfect communication with the customers from telegram group and they are always there to solve our problems.

I never just bought REM coin but I made perfect background search over it. For example, how much out reach REMME has with other customers. How team behaves when bad situation occurs and much more. I think REMME is an example one should look after and then learn how to select perfect coins.

People have different point of views. Some may want new coins and do a short term trade and the others will select wisely for a long term trade. However, whatever traders want to do with their coins, i still  agree that we have to be selective in buying coins because of many scam and shitcoins circulating in the market.

I agree. If we are unlucky, we might be able to hodl a coin for a year, only to realize that we should have sold it a few months when it hit the exchange. Anticipating what can happen to the coin price is impossible but we can always look for signs if the coin is really worth holding. Checking the progress of the coin and knowing the road map will also help. If they are hitting the milestones on the roadmap and the coin is progressing in terms of demand. I would say that the coin is worh holding.

I agree. There are more and more projects have failed so we need to be more careful when we choose the coins. I often buy in 3 or 4 coins to make my investment split so I cna feel more safe.

many player or investor buy coin in ICO when crowdsale is almost finish/ softcap reached or hardcap almost reached 50 percent , then they wait for exchange for 3 month or more then they sell it, they dont care about product etc or long investment, sell when its profit,,just like that

Yes before decide to buy any coin, we should make research and learn about fundamental of the project. The project that possible to offer huge profit is project that consist solid team member and unique interesting project, also they possible to solve many problem and give advantages to the crypto community.

Yes! We need to look for the utility of the coins we buy in the market. If we selected because of their names only, assure that they will not give you much of the profit. Before i invest i make sure to research it first just to make sure that i can make even a small profit. In cryptocurrency there is always failure but despite of that we can also see that some of people here made a huge profit. It helps alot to us in investing here.

Yeah, you should never buy anything blindly.  Do your homework and research the project thoroughly before you put your hard earned money into it.  Look for projects with a strong technical background and strong community following.  Those keys will help you find a successful project.

I think the reason I like new coins that do not have ICO but requires mining to get the first coin. Some may want new coins and short-term trades and others will choose wisely for long-term trades. Its not about just buying a Coin. Its about how good its Potential is in the market. Many Projects come and go by in the Cryptocurrency market and only some make the best outcome depending own its own terms of its potential and advertising on the particular Coins own terms of making the best outcome. It all depends on the Particular ALT coin's or other relevant ICO'S regarding their potential of how smart and how well are they extracting their project into the market.

Yes, many projects start with a good idea but do not survive and end up failing. Make choosing a project is the main thing is to see the people who are behind the project, whether already has experience or not

the average is just buying coins without following the progress of the project, they are only targeting the short-term profit only and proven successful, many people who take advantage of such conditions.

I just want to add to all that never ever believe of other people says about the crypto you are about to invest. whether its good or bad. the best thing to do is do your own research and look how active is the development and the marketing. 

Since for me there's no such thing as just putting a money and let it grow, if you are a fundamental trading i believe you must see to it that you know all about the basics of that coins. I mean that's why it's called fundamental trading, you must know that plans and developments of that coin ahead in order for you to set your exit plan. And if you are really and avid fan of that coin i believe you must be full subscribed on the news sources in order for you to know what's happening in your investments.

Yeah, dont just buy a coin, but buy many coins. There are many good coins out there like : XMR, EOS, XRP, etc. Not mention that there are many tokens in a good projects.

I think you should have ended the thread title with "without doing a huge amount of your own research first". Thre are so many coin launches out there at the moment and you can see that some of the concepts are just never going to make it as a business idea. Yes, many people buy coins and use it as an investments because they see that it has a low price but they didn’t know those coins is such a waste of money because afterall it has no value. I suggest that its okay to buy coin with highest price but you know that it will be having huge value in the future.

i think so because it is not good to buy a single coin , making diversify investment provide you safety and perhaps better result in future but this is my opinion . i have seen lot of people who are investing on a single coin , but the difference between them and others are risk taking capability and the knowledge behind that project, they studied too much about that project and then decided to invest and they are assured that they are going to make lot of money from this coin in future.

Well you are right. I want to add another point, when you are an investor, don't just hodl. You should spread the words and its value to people that don't know about the potential of that project. Work along with the dev and marketing team. Don't think you put money, that's enough. A good project/idea needs a lot of your support, not only funds.

Yes people nowadays are just buying coins even if it's small price they will grab it easily. But they don't know at the end it was just like a waste of money.

Most of the people are just investing for short term and when the project is listed in exchange they just sell of what ever the profit they get so they dont see how much profit they get they just calculate in total how much profit averaged in a month after investing in several projects. This type of traders dont buy for long term and they are only the traders who are in profit as they dont love the coins and just play with it. Even the very good projects price are down more then 80% from their ATH. So it is clear that just take profit what ever coin you have invested and when their price is down then you can buy them from the profit you earned so that your investment should be safe for investing in next project.

it's true if you say that ico is great for the short term. because from the beginning ico is launched until the end of pre-sale, in that period that will determine the ico's price. whether successful or not? and most of them, in the long run will usually continue to sink.

The survivability of a project in crypto currency world is dependent on the success, the team behind, the roadmap, whitepaper, marketing, use-case, utilization in real world, and the adaptability to the masses. People will buy if they think that the project can maintain what they have promised and keep on achieving milestones.

Yes, I agree with you and it is very good to do a very good research about the project. Read the whitepaper, study the roadmap and spreadsheet, check who the manager and management team are and their previous achievement in crypto and also check whether the coin is good for hold or not before you invest in it.

I agree, though some projects will of course survive, because otherwise there will not be much Altcoin right now.
But of course to choose the current project will be more complicated, because even the best projects fail to get optimal support.

some new into crypto are trying to buy more coins in very cheap price and some did not realy check the website, the team and community behind it and thats the problem and they dont think about long term and a short term investment, but still whether it is long term or short term as long as they buy low and sell it in higher price i guess they earn profit on it

Yes I totally agree. Buying in ICO projects better to set our goals in short term. Earn little in a short period of time, is a good strategy. But for me I will buy ETH and Bitcoin for long term goal.

I just hope that all team member have good ranking in Bitcointalk first before ICO run and for all that will approve ICO I hope that the they know how they can get the creator to avoid scamming participant.

You're right about that, but sometimes it's worth to make that short term profit. Crypto is mostly hype, so the most hyped coin wins the battle.

I think the situation is clear, that most projects are not quite successful, if not failed. Maybe this is not just because the developer team is not good, but it could be because of too many projects, and all have equal potential. So maybe picking a coin will be a mystery anytime.

This is true, many of the investors who are newbie and don't have experiences yet buy just any coin and ended up losing because some of this coins goes to nothing in the long run. I have seen some goes up several weeks and goes low or almost nothing in price as it sink lower after their ICO. It sad but this is the reality and because there are too many coins in competition it is really hard to tell which ones are good. The old ones and the most established coins even dropped in price so the possibility of these coins to drop as well will be very big. So we must be very careful in choosing coins to buy.

The best way to buy coins would be to do research into the coin to make sure that the coin is legit and the people behind the project are actually working on the project to make sure that it is going to do well in the future.

There times we we invest in shitcoin just to take our profit in hours.It is not necessary that all investment should be in coin with great future in a long run,many at times shitcoin can make a good profit if you are smart about it,just make sure you make a good research before investing.If you know you are convenient with making your profit on shitcoin why not,but if you are convenient with long term profit,then buy good coin to hodl.

Due to market condition I also don't buy any token at this time because I already have some leftover token in my wallet that waiting for the bull run, I think I buy thus coin that is already in the market when market it stable.

Many shitcoins have literally died now; most of them are ICOs last year that failed to gain traction for their project and basically faded to limbo. So basically, in a sense, shitcoins are fewer now so it's the investor's fault if they bought into one and lost money. Most projects and airdrops out there are worthless.  You really have to do your research and put the time in before you invest.  And even then its still a low probability you hit a winner

yeah i have so many doubts about icos too, also till one of them gets growing, a new ico comes with newest technology and people gets back their moneys and pays to the new ones.
