How could war affect crypto?

I think so, buying weapons for war has made easier thanks to the help of cryptocurrency. The terrorist can use Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies as a means of payment to buy guns and fund deadly attacks.

In Ukraine there is a war. I can say that crypto makes it really easy to hide money. Nobody knows who is the owner of the wallet which consists millions of dollars in cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin, like gold, is a safe-haven asset.
Then when the war comes, people will buy Bitcoins in large quantities.

In the United States, the United States and France in the United States today made a military attack on Syria and bombarded some places in Damascus. We all know that war is closely related to gold. People need a safe haven, and the current encryption does not have the function of avoiding danger. I think the more function of bitcoin is financial.

How could war affect crypto?
according to my understanding. when war occurs. gold, bitcoin .. is a safe deposit. Can buy weapons easily. and no one knows. So the price of gold and bitcoin will rise sharply if the war breaks out

Black markets for nuclear weapons can make transactions easily without being traced. The cryptocurrency makes it possible because of its unique characteristic which is anonymity. This is one disadvantage of cryptos. Just because it supports anonymity and it is decentralized, people take advantage of it and use it for personal and organizational goals that are unlawful.

Yes, I agree with this thought. Like world war 2, many people were invested in gold at that time.
For now, I think Bitcoin is the safest asset to throw the money and make it safe.

I do not think that cryptocurrency can have a significant impact on the war.. perhaps, depends on what kind of a war : between what parties and for what reason. although it is impossible to exclude that the cryptocurrency is also an opportunity to store money and conduct monetary transactions more secretly than with real money.

I don't know. because I live not in a war country. I doubt the crypto will continue to work during the war. however there will be many facilities that will be destroyed what else internet connection will die because of damage here and there.

Why should cryptocurrencies don't work?
I think bitcoin is the best choice during a war. When there is a war in your country and your wealth is in danger, bitcoin is the best choice as a global currency.
Assume that your are forced to leave your country, you can use your bitcoins in every country. So your wealth is safe.

How could war affect crypto?

I think it could affect cryptocurrencies if the war affects the team management and development. If a coin is based on a country and that country has war issues, I think it could affect that coin's value.

My view is that a small local war may stimulate the rising of gold and digital money in a short period of time, because people in the war zone have a very urgent risk of danger, and in the tense situation in South Korea and North Korea last year, South Korea had a large amount of money to buy bitcoins.

Actually the power of crypto is enormous and it proves that crypto can cause something very unusual, for example war. If applied rationally it is most likely that crypto is used to aid war equipment. it could be the cost of a war, the impact of crypto is very broad because crypto has a very wide market share and in the world that nowadays crypto has been calculated as something very important.

How could war affect crypto?
The war could have affected the stability of the internet all of the countries and it means there will be a lot of problems when we are trying to accessing our digital assets. Without internet and that will be useless.
It could give a lot of impact to the crypto based on my opinion regarding the fact internet is a must for crypto.

I think war will boost the price of gold and digital assets like bitcoin because they are store of value so people will be likely to convert their cash into gold, bitcoin and food to make their assets secure. It is useful to secure your wealth through the war and bitcoin is one of the safest way to do that.

Practically, the war affects people psychological aspects, e.g mood on doing trading, panic selling, etc. It also affects the crypto through the trading of weapons, uprising crypto prices, and as a long term investment since you can't really trust the safety of your assets in conventional modes.

When there is war there is destruction. When it struck the nation structure will fall. No one is exempted. Everyone is effective. House, Atm, roads, buildings, and more. If one nation love crypto then war is present the above reasons are valid to stop the crypto for a while.

Do not agree with you one bit. Do you even know what war does to people? One of the biggest characteristics of the crypto market is people panic selling/buying which can happen at any particular point of time due to some reason or another(good or bad). For example, Bitconnect value literally crashed when the scam was unveiled due to people panic selling like crazy. One of the biggest characteristics of was is causing panic among people which will obviously have an effect on the crypto market(Big one for sure). However, this effect might be positive or negative for the market on the whole.

I think the effect of War to crypto is tbat it will be a massive dump of coins resulting of decreasing the price because during war for sure many people will need fiat to buy emergency needs like food water and etc etc, also there is no goos thing war brings us it is only way to hate/ kill each other.

Agree to this one which is actually true on where theres no significant effect of war into crypto currency which can we found or see on traditional local fiats. Commonly in war supply and demand for oil is one of the example on where it do have significant effect since its essential and being used up on war which we would normally see the price is mainly affected due to these circumstances.

It somewhat does. In Russia some people live off crypto. There is a news article, if you look maybe you can find it. Expect it to rise if problems increase.

War can affect the crypto market dramatically because people fear that market will go down and they will lose money. So people usually cash out, if they fear any war going to happen. Just like last night, USA missiles strike against Syria will have an impact on price, as now we can see the market is bit shaky because of it.

I dont think that there is a definite relation between war and crypto. This is not something proved till now. The countries that go to war dont need to buy weapons with crypto. They do it in front of public's eye. They dont hide that they buy and sell weapons.

It will give cryptocurrencies the best shot to have trillions of dollars, where do you think rich people will hide their wealth? in gold? not going to happen becaue it can be stolen but if they are going to put their money to cryptocurrencies surely its going to be secured most of the time as the war is still out there people are going to hide their money into something.

If there will be a world war, gold supply could be at risk because most of the people will hunt these supplies all over the world,it can be stolen like what fiat is,the value of the fiat could drop that is why cryptocurrencies will be the best choice to hide the your wealth because it cant be stolen so it means that bitcoin's value will surged up if most of the people or rich families are going to hide their wealth to cryptocurrencies just to be safe.

crypto currencies are a very open platform to be affected from the outside. war certainly does not benefit. Countries that are good with each other bring new agreements and trade increases. the crypto slows down the universalization of money.

I think crypto is a good safe heaven after gold when in war situation. Peoples can save their money to there(crypto). And this is a good opportunity for weapon seller, that can sell their weapon with crypto with additional price.

No internet = no cryptocurrency transactions, that is how the cryptocrreucnes will be affected by the war? it can be a good thing because cryptocurrencies cant be destroyed by the war,not unlike to these gold supply that can be stolen or destroyed which is why if a war would happen most of the people are going to invest or hide their money in cryptocurrencies.

During wars and serious shocks, people translate their savings into something reliable or into products and goods of daily consumption that will help them survive the hard times. It is unlikely that crypto belongs to this category.

Depends what type of war it is, if it was a cyber war then the last place people would want to invest in is crypto currency if there's daily state sponsored hacking going on. If it's a traditional war I guess it depends on the devastation caused. If there's black outs, and social breakdown in any form then no one would care about crypto it'd be about surviving day to day.

How could war affect crypto?
I think not directly. News is one of the factors that influence the price movement significantly. Crypto users who hear negative news about crypto, will feel panic and end up selling their coins to secure assets. The impact, coin prices will drop because of the sale of coin on a large scale. Vice versa, if there is positive news about coin then many users who make buying transactions. Of course with the purchase of coin on a large scale impact on drastic price increases.

The cryptocurrencies market is dominated by information on the Internet, and the war is no exception when it comes to exchanging rate fluctuations. The United States and its allies attacked Syria, which made the investment in cryptos rise due to a loss of confidence in the dollar. If the war breaks out, then I think the cryptocurrencies market will rise sharply in the next few months.

How would you use the cryptocurrencies without the internet? how will the blockchain works if theres no computer to confirm those blocks? ledgers? how do you think the cryptocurrencies will work when the government has shutdown the internet services? that is quite obvious, these currencies wont work without the internet so you should think twice.

I think a major war between multiple countries will just slow the crypto markets or push the market to ath. Crypto is not controlled by the government and you can buy it on a global scale so this could push prices up. People might like that aspect and invest in crypto during war times instead of traditional money. I don't think it cause a major market crash unless it's a cyberwar. Then crypto will be the last thing people think about buying as I can see countries hacking exchanges to fund war costs.

The problem that I see is the ease of access to weapons as it is much easier to buy them in the online black market and with the decentralized transactions of the cryptocurrencies many people will have access to these weapons, just imagine a rebel group, terrorist or even mercenaries forming within the war using the weapons bought from crypto.

They say that war is the great equalizer because in war everybody is equal. The only advantage that reach people had is that they can use their money to buy security but they can't avoid loot which is the common problem if war occurs.

If you have substantial amount of fiat, you could always convert it to crypto to hide from anyone else and the very good thing is they can't steal it from you as long as you protect your private key very well.

Then when the war comes, people will buy Bitcoins in large quantities.

How could war affect crypto?
according to my understanding. when war occurs. gold, bitcoin .. is a safe deposit. Can buy weapons easily. and no one knows. So the price of gold and bitcoin will rise sharply if the war breaks out

likely so. because it will surely be an awful lot of their funding through weapons supply bitcoin or crypto. indirectly then this will make the market demand became larger and certainly will bring the price of crypto mainly bitcoin getting high.

You are right, digital currency wallet is the safest way to hide money and nobody will know about your savings and investment, but there is also a bad thing in wallet and that is if the internet stopped you will lose your money. Many other small problems can also happen to digital wallets, but on the whole it is a good place for investment and earns money easily.

Worse is shady businesses already happens in the dark net causing also anonymous fundings, but since KYC is kinda holding this not really that tight. Well we're talking about war here. Even before war happens, government could use cryptos already for their advantage in their own hidden plans to whatever they're currently facing in another country. How could war affect crypto?

I don't think crypto affect the war directly as the Cryptocoins is decentralized and it has no control over any specific country. But if the war is between the major countries like United States, Britain, Russia, China then it would affect the Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. But i don't think the affect would be in some big crash and hope it will be small only and also the bitcoin value and demand will soon increase as the war would affect the countries financial strength and people will buy more & more crypto coins in the form of assets.

Stability and peace order had impacts on the economy. Who wants to trade coins when you are bombarded with missiles? In this kind of scenario there will be fear. And because of fear many would try to keep their belongings as they knew that everything wouldn't be so favorable. As a result the market will be affected. A change in one economy lead to changes in the other as well because we are all interconnected through trades. So I would say certainly.  But what happen to syria might not have a noticeable effect not unless tensions will grow between nations. Of course we don't want it to happen.

I believe that the war is very bad. But if you raise the subject, I will say. The war can affect the currency as well as the ordinary currency. For example, some state has developed or maintains a certain crypto currency. And it participates in a war that sucks resources out of it. Naturally, the price of this crypto currency will fall. Especially will suffer altcoins are strongly associated with the state in trouble :( :( :(

It can affect both the market, civilians, military and third party that are involved in the said war. Purchase of of weapons as others have already said was made easier to transact. The market will fall or even skyrocket due to investors decission most especially the hodlers to hold or sell huge amount of crypto as the affected countrymen has to convert their fiat into crypto for a safer funds and move to other safe countries. Every global conflict affects the economy of the whole world. Most likely, when a global war breaks  out again, cryptocurrencies will be the ones that would suffer the most damage, since technological progress is paused when war happens. This means that a lot of cryptocurrencies we use and loved now today might die out when a war breaks out globally. Or it may go otherwise, since cryptocurrencies are decentralized, they could be used for fast transactions and could be used as means to purchase weapons by both opposing sides.

Wars could heavily affect cryptocurrencies value. It may increase the demand for cryptocurrencies  therefore massively increasing the value or it could deplete the system as war hinders technological progress and economical progress over all. I think these two possibilities may come forth once a war breaks out and we will only find out what would happen once it commences.

Crypto currencies are DECENTRALIZED so why should they be dependent on the situation in any country?
The only thing that could affect cryptos is the global conflict like World War III involving the population and infrastructure of the major market players like the USA, China, Europe, etc.
Personally I can see no prerequisites for such a scenario though there are several countries posessing nuclear weapons that could be a trigger for such a conflict.

There are 2 back wised questions, I will add one more- How crypto can affect war? This question is more interesting, right? The one I have mentioned it is sort of black side of crypto currency. As we all know, cryptocurrency is uncontrolled money, with this tool we can even simply buy drugs or guns and almost all of the time no one will know about it. That is the main reason why politicians are against the crypto market.

it is likely the cloud is needed by some developers and companies to store data or assets are very secret, I think cloud like google drive and others just in mixed with cyptocurrency so that it can trigger price movement of cryptocurrency.

How could war affect crypto?
It depends if it is a World War or just a war in a specific country. If it is a large scale war there is a possibility that they will shut down Internet connection to prevent communication. If it is a one country, I think they could still use cryptocurrency to keep  their asset and if they can flew away from their country to avoid war.

How could war affect crypto?

War will only affect the place or country where it was held and if a war will happen then cryptocurrency will still be profitable since not every country wants to declare war so it will not affect the entire world.

Talking about the war, it seems too complicated and horrible, Many things and terms or conditions may lead the war and may give bad influence on something. Every war will give negative impact, bad impacts. It is not only talking about one person but also everybody involves din the warn including the society. related to the crypto, I think it may influence. As this crypto is used by many people in the world. The war may affect the continuity or stability of the coins not always positively, no one know.

Personnaly i dont like this question, it's sound like"how a war can be profitable for me ?"

I think the author of this thread is trying to ask question on what could be the likely effect of war on cryptocurrency, but some are answering in another direction, talking about how crypto can be useful during war. Now addressing the question, i think war can have adverse effect on lives and anything that can effect lives, will surely affect those things owned by those lives.
For instance, if life is lost during war, the person might have a wallet containing million dollars worth of coin and the private key might be known to him alone. If he did not reveal the private key to no one less due to an unexpected death, that is the end of the assets in such wallet.

It depends on the scale.
If something relatively big would break out, crypto would skyrocket as would gold.

War is associated with big uncertainty and destabilization of economies.

As the entire digital currency development is dependent on technology as well the network functioning, even a small collapse in the internet connectivity over certain region easily affects the bitcoin movement. It can be of the transaction, or it can be of the mining or trading. When the trading volume gets affected, automatically the impact upon growth can be experienced.

Yes, because in the war there will be no electricity that works well, while transacting in the crypto we need electricity and also the internet, in the war we may not be able to get electricity to access our computers and even mobile phone, I also believe in internet network war may not be available. So it's clear, if the war happens we will have difficulty transacting using crypto.

When a war occurs, property owners who want to convert into a property can be used worldwide and it must be secure to ensure their identity is kept private, only crypto is guaranteed. This condition, so the crypto is the channel choice to secure the place for the war. You can see that whenever there is bitcoin in the world, there is a huge upside, which directly affects the cryptocurrency market.

Of course if there's a big problem with the economy war can really affect also the entire digital currency network. No circulation will happen to the exchanges and people will be hesitant of invedting their money to the trading site due to fears of no assurance. More crypto coins will certainly dump because investors will dump their assets caused by panic selling and the world economy crisis.

I think so, buying weapons for war has made easier thanks to the help of cryptocurrency. The terrorist can use Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies as a means of payment to buy guns and fund deadly attacks.

and before bitcoin what they were using ?
big terrorists dont need crypto to survive , they do trade weapons with oil like in syria . so crypto is just blamed blindly for these criminal acts .
i do agree with crypto their payment system will be more easier , but it will not affect that much . after regulation we can tackle it bcoz at a point someone will withdraw them in USD and will have to show source .

also query was how war will affect crypto .

How could war affect crypto?
War has a great impact on crypto because people won't be thinking about trading or doing campaigns during this time! I mean, your country is in chaos so instinctly you'll be more concerned with safekeeping your life! The economy will surely drop and almost everything will be on a halt. This includes cryptocurrencies. The community will be less active with pretty much everything because of this war. And so the crypto market will surely be affected.

during time of war fiat currency lose its value and if you are on side of victim nation which lost the war then fiat may be same crisis like zimbawe and other nations . however if you invested money in gold or silver then you are safe bcoz they don't lose their value . you can trade those assets with current value of fiat .
crypto is backed by demand and popularity so if popularity is not affected then having crypto is also safe option . but still i will say gold and silver are best investments in such conditions .

WW3 is not like WW2. People just sit and press the button. So I think crypto will still exist, the market all "go to the moon". The value of cryptocurrency may increase 500-1000%. But I don't think wallet, exchanges site will be available. It reminds me of the North Korean missile test. At that time, bitcoin prices increased dramatically because Koreans and Japanese bought a lot of bitcoins. That is the opportunity for us - true holders.  ;D

I would say that if we are in a war, it would not look like 70 years ago. Anyway, any war supports new technologies and that would be "great" for crypto (just like things can be great during a war). That is the first factor, the second one would be that people will not trust a currency managed by the government, so they would like to own a reliable currency. Anonymous cryptocurrencies would be used by the military sector and agents as transactions are rapid and unstoppable. So if we are in a war, technology+currency means crypto would be one of the most important factors that might even decide the result of the conflict.

People need a safe haven, and the current encryption does not have the function of avoiding danger. I think the more function of bitcoin is financial.

Its about What would be the effect of war in crypto, not the other way around..

Then when the war comes, people will buy Bitcoins in large quantities.
What are you naive and far from these problems. Do you think that in case of a serious large-scale war someone will take care of the crypto currency? It just will not be necessary to anyone. If there is a large-scale war, clothes, products, tools, weapons, that is all that will allow people to survive, will be valued. The most valuable will then be barter. Even gold at that time will not in all cases be a commodity. Then certainly for a pizza you will give 10 000 bitcoins, and even more. You will always want to eat.

How could war affect crypto?
Like the common money. Financial support of war can be provided with cryptocurrency, just like it can be provided with fiat money.

It is good for me that cryptocurrency is not at the same level of mass adoption so that it can be said that a war can somehow influence it as for example it affects the dollar

einstein used to say:  "I do not know with which kind of weapons the third world war will be fought, but the fourth one will be fought with stones". therefore no electricity probably no crypto. that is a concern. don't you find?

There are a lot of ways that war could affect people and it could affect the amount of people that can actually invest in the coins at a time. After that coins could be used to launder money to be used in the sale and purchase of arms which could negatively affect the credibility of the coins. Also it might depend on which countries are involved in the war.

I see two possible situations. The first, that crypto will has a good benefit from this because a lot of manipulations with money will be done here. And the second, the majority of participants in crypto will not have an access to the crypto in that time and it means that we'll lose everything.

I do not want to talk about such things, because war is a very terrible thing that benefits only a small number of people, I do not think that it will be beneficial to many people, but this is another topic.

It depend on the place, where this war will take place. For example, during the full fledged war between US and China, cryptocurrency market will become useless, because it will end our world. In the same time, a lot of terrorists use crypto, but it could not be called war.

An interesting question, not long ago I thought about it, the question is which countries will take part in this? since the basis now for the crypt is America and Asia, these 2 centers,on which the further growth of the crypto-currency market will depend, but I think in any case,crypto-currencies will be introduced in the world every year

War in developed country may increase interest to cryptocurrency investments, because crypto could not be confiscated by anyone. In addition, it could not be arrested by any bank or government, so it is great option for hiding money during any unpleasant occasion.

I have another point of view. Each war affects negatively on the life of the country or a nation. I do not think that people that think mostly how to survive will have much time to work with the cryptocurrencies.

What happens when there's a war?

Destruction of almost everything so the most affected area would be the battle field but to other place there's not much affection if a war exists. Crypto transactions will keep going on those areas that aren't affected.

How could war affect crypto?

Cryptocurrency helps in the war. With the help of electronic money, it is possible to acquire illegal weapons obtained from the sale of drugs. Of course, in the case of paper money, this is problematic, while with cryptocurrency it is greatly simplified.

How could war affect crypto?
I think the war would have some positive impact on the valuation of crypto currencies, as we all know that war is destructive and massive and the most important thing that the war would effect is economy of any country and as the central currency of any country get down then people and government of that country started searching for other option and then crypto will be the only option as it is the future currency and is much superior than all the currencies available in the market.

I think that if it is a world war, then the cryptocurrency will disappear. If it is a war between the two countries, the cryptocurrency will develop.

How could war affect crypto?
It can affect the cryptocurrencies in the same way that war can accept any other currency, it will make them ore inclined to be used as illegal forms of moving money and they can be used in the purchase of arms and mostly there would be some kind of crash in the coins because with war people are not going to be worried about buying cryptos but surviving

It all depends on what kind of war.If this is a civil war, then naturally the population will not have a rush to buy cryptocurrency.she is be used directly by those who are fighting. And in General, such a war will not affect the cryptocurrency rate too much.If we look at a world-wide war, then the cryptocurrency is likely to depreciate very much. I don’t think that there will be many who want to use it and moreover keep their money in cryptocurrency.

It is sad, but the industry will explode, because of the anonymous payments, it would be possible to finance the war. I do not want even to imagine such a situation and it would be awful for the whole world.

How could war affect crypto?

When people are fighting wars I'm pretty sure they are not going to be very concerned about the money on the internet but I guess the people who deal in arms and other things can use them to collect money for their merchandise without having to risk being hijacked so there is that but for the average joe, it'll just be focus on trying to survive

How could war affect crypto?
crypto is one of the way to launder money and to buy some black market stuff without being detected. so war could only increase crypto positions in the world. but i hope these two words won't be linked in future

Guys reasoning about the impact of cryptocurrency on the war must be considered from the point of view of the theory of relativity, you yourself know very well who. Considering the same war in Syria on a global scale, we will see a huge field of activity for the use of cryptocurrency in absolutely illegal purposes and with impunity, and this, to put it mildly, is not good. And looking through the eyes of people who live there and see the horror of the war, not seeing not only electricity but also elementary human needs, we can understand one simple truth - why should a person suffering in the desert have a bag of gold if he does not have a sip of water.

The impact of war on cryptocurrency is almost non-existent. The war between local areas or small countries cannot have a major impact on cryptocurrency, but if the Third World War arrives, the currency other than Bitcoin will depreciate significantly. .

This is a rather extensive question. It depends on what kind of war is global or local. In a local war, it almost does not affect. If global war, people will not care about bitcoin.

It is difficult to say what is about this thread. If we are talking about local conflicts then I think it doesn't have any significant negative impact on crypto. But crypto can be used for money transaction for illegal armed forces.

It will affect everything else, it will obviously have a negative impact, because war leads to depression and economic decline, respectively, no investment in cryptocurrency is expected during this period and, accordingly, there will be no growth.

I don't believe it affect crypto, crypto is meant to be be traded which means buy and sell them, so war affecting it can only be if the whole world is at war. Crypto only affect war positively, because it serve as source of funds for weapons black markets things, buying illegally.
