Title: Trader complaints
Post by: Nefario on February 10, 2011, 05:56:36 PM
I didn't find any thread about where to complain about a trader (maybe not a scammer, but not doing what they said or doing a half assed job).

Asked stevenbucks to put a theme on a drupal site and do a logo, price was 20btc. If all went well I would have him manage the site design, admin etc. in the future

He put theme on site, and paid him 25btc(he had to re-install drupal), he had password and username for host.

Said he would do the logo the next day, no problem. Everything seemed fine and I was happy.

Then he asked to borrow some btc, to play a gambling game. I said fine and lent him another 25btc (stupid thing to do I know, but he did well with the site, and I thought I could afford to lose up to 25btc), he then started to beg for more. I had to go to cook dinner.

Came back after a few hours (had connection trouble) to find the site down(showing a drupal maintenence page). I checked the host and the db with everything had been deleted.

I contacted him again, we talked on irc, he asked me to give him another 10btc to fix the site and take 10btc from what he owed me.

I said just take it from what you owe me (guessing I'll not get my btc back but maybe I can get him to finish for it).

I then asked him to repair the install(which I suspect he sabotaged) and install two additional modules, and then our that would cover everything he owed me. He said ok.

Then cleared the irc log (so I don't have the exact words but the above is pretty accurate), then said he'd go do something for 10 minutes and would be back. That was over 2 hours ago.

He sent me a pm on the forum appolagising for asking to borrow money. And I haven't heard from him since.

He left a botched restore of the db but nothing is working properly on the site.

So overall I'm down 50btc and have nothing to show for it.

stevenbucks is a poor trader to get things done, I'm not sure if he's a scammer, possibly but at the very least he will do a half assed job and then ask you to pay him to fix it.

He seems desperate to get ahold of bitcoins, and was asking other users to lend them btc also, I would caution doing business with him again, not to be trusted.

Yeah, he has asked me to loan him bitcoins as well before, and he spent the whole time he played the dragon's tale game begging people for coins.

Way too late, I certainly don't trust you, have changed password and will do a proper job of it myself.
If you want to repair anything you can give me my 25btc back(the borrowed sum) and keep the 25btc that I originally paid you.
My btc address is:1N5cyJpKUxWsbk18LAPdN89bTww4AUZdRt

I will update this thread if he pays me otherwise assume he has not.

your story somehow sounds familiar,
i can't help it, but i get the feeling this guy is our old 'friend' sabbers (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483.msg11875#msg11875),
he also started with very small trades to gain some 'reputation', before he started to beg for loans and this smells just like him.
