ICOs aren't going to be as easy to garner attention as they used to be.

I think that we're shifting from unregulated ICOs to regulated ICOs. And the KYC laws surrounding these ICOs are going to pretty strict. In the next 5 years, it should be expected that a lot of big companies come up with their own initial coin offerings as well, just like Telegram is planning on doing.

Overall, expect more regulations in the ICO sphere. It's going to be harder and harder for devs to pitch their ideas across, when they have so many competitors.

ICOs will evolve into STOs (Security Token Offers) which are mostly the same thing, but regulated. Unfortunately ICOs are raising funds from the public without any rule, some of them are scams and other ones do change rules after they announced things, even after people have invested in them. I do not like regulation, however I don't like to be in the "law of the jungle" either. There has to be some order and unfortunately this means some kind of regulation. Also, I don't think that they will be as attractive as today. They will change, evolve, and adapt.

Going to be hell of a hard time for ICO projects to lift off and reach their soft/hard caps as we'll be witnessing tens of thousands of projects passing by and only a small portion out of this would truly have the potential to succeed. As far as breakthroughs are concerned, they'll be coming only on the form of brilliant ideas and nothing less than that.

I can't say a lot about that but only some of them have interested idea in my opinion. The majority of them just try to make any improvement to the old protocol to increase the usefulness of the old protocol itself but remember it can be done by the old team. They must create such a creative idea just like bitcoin or ethereum.
In another way regulation will be coming soon.

Since Japan entered the world of cryptocurrency, I expect that in 5 years, we will completely innovate. A lot of ICOs will exist made by Japan since they are promoting industrialised ecosystem. The future of ICO is not clear as of now because there are countries who ban cryptocurrency and it is an obstacles for an ICO to become successful. But I hope things will clear in the near future.

I will see more regulations on ICO. We can see many ICO being looked into by regulators and law enforcement. SEC are doing their best to check on US based ICO, and other countries will follow too. In a few years, i would see ICO numbers to drop significantly. ICO will soon be a regulated process to avoid scams.

I think that in the future ICO will be strictly regulated. We will not see scammers of projects, people will trust ICO more that they will not lose their money and huge investments in projects will come with the help of ICO. But ICO will be a very long-term investment - more than 5 years. As now it will not be.

It is already difficult for ICOs to achieve success and recognition from the crypto-currency community. I believe that 95% of the crypto currencies expect collapse, only the most powerful and promising projects will remain in the arena. Those currencies that will survive will grow strongly in value. ICO will lose its value and necessity. But this will happen not in the very near future, but somewhere in 3-5 years.

Your opinion completely coincides with mine. Regulation is a complex process in which it is necessary to find a balance between protecting the interests of participants in the cryptocurrency market and improper control and appropriation of private funds. I very much hope that this balance will be achieved, and the market of cryptocurrency will become safer.

Everything is changing so rapidly that it is difficult to predict for five years ahead.
Uniquely, ICO will somehow be regulated to avoid fraud.
Around ICO there will be even more analytical resources that will help to understand where the real projects are, and where the scam.
Perhaps the very idea of ICO will somehow change.

It is better if the ICOs are regulated for the next 5 years because it is sure that the ICO scams will be avoided and scam victims will be reduced. Blessed earlier ICOs since it was established that their project needed to upgrade the platform against emerging innovative ideas of new competitors.

Hi!

After 5 years, when considering current ICOs, we will Identified what are the truly successful project and how far they achieve their targets. Also In the future many ICOs will start to relate with different purposes. Hence more governments will make regulations to control ICOs. ICOs which scam will increase in future. Hence more ICO ranking methods and Associations will establish to control for those scams. If the cryptocurrency able to accept more countries then new opportunities will create. New opportunities will lead to jobs. People will start to do jobs relate to ICO projects. Personally I believe after 5 years people will tend to cryptocurrency that lead to start more ICOs.  Also Industries will use ICOs for find more Investors to success their Project. With more regulations ICOs will start that Future journey.

Thanks
Have a Nice Day!

While ICOs prove its eagerness to show additions to the blockchain technology, as long as something could be changed then ICO will continue to grow even more stronger in the succeeding years. However since scams are an issue, it could be slowed down by some legalized requirements soon if these scams continued to go on. Government would just aid their people to invest carefully in projects that could end up worse in a minute if it reaches its final stage in the map.

Over the recent days, or should be like this entire quarter is pretty low on ICOs, however over the past few months we have also seen  lot of scams raising money from ico too.
This correction was required and now only the genuine icos are surviving.
This is good and make me belive more into genuine icos and they are at the moment good way to raise funds for a new project.

The problem of scam that icos are facing is the reason that it looks as if they are not important but to me, they are very important. They are very simple way to show coins or tokens to investors. People have the opportunity to check it out, roadmap, future and use.

Icos should still be around but the scam going on should be checked.

The future of ICO is positive that means currently many regulations are occur in the ICO advertisement. But after two years automatically many scam projects are failed in the market so regulations are stopped in future and many good ICOs are comes in the market. The investors are looking to invest in tokens. So most of the ICOs are successfully run in the market.

I can understand your concern perfectly because unfortunately they are a lot of ICOs going on which are really a scam. but fortunately they are also ICO rating sites where one can eliminate the real scams from the more serious ICOs. The second step is then to trust the project and the team. Maybe the security token offers are a better option for the future because there will be more ICOs in the future and one can feel really lost in all that.

It seems to me that in the next 5 years a serious regulatory policy will be implemented and clear rules for working in this direction will be worked out. As you know it was during the troubled times of anarchy that huge fortunes were made and thousands of people were devastated. Therefore, by translating all the legal and financial issues related to the ICO in the legal channel, we will eventually get more interesting and most importantly viable projects.

There is every reason to predict the stabilization of the segment. First, the community has acquired sufficient experience, and now it is not enough simply to describe the project smartly with clever words to initiate the sale of the tokens. Potential investors already now want to see a clear plan for the development of the collected funds and the stages of the project implementation. Secondly, there is a need and even there are tools for the legal regulation of relations in the crypto-currency market. All this means that going to the ICO will become more difficult, and only professional teams will do it. And from this it follows that the total number of ICO start-ups will decrease, but the percentage of reliable and profitable projects will grow. I believe that in the end ICO will reach a new, more professional level. Both from the point of view of the development of the crypto industry, and from the position of investment.

ICO is a financial mechanism innovation that essentially improves the crowdfunding model of the Internet because it combines very powerful kinetic energy with TOKEN (Token/Token). Although most ICOs are now built on the blockchain smart contract system such as Ethereum, ICO can be applied to Internet projects without blockchain technology.
According to the cryptocurrency industry media CoinDesk, the global ICO financing in the first quarter of 2018 was US$6.3 billion, which is 118% of the global ICO financing in 2017. The average round of financing scale and financing speed of ICO projects in the first quarter also exceeded that of the past. The number of ICOs in the quarter was 59% of the whole year of 2017.
The Japanese government clarified the virtual currency as a means of payment in accordance with the revised "Financial Arithmetic Algorithm" and required the registration of the trading institution; although the legislation did not specify the ICO issue, it was based on the FSA's in October last year. A statement, "ICO may be regulated by the "Financial Arithmetic Algorithm" or "Financial Commodity Exchange Act," depending on the structure of the ICO project." If an ICO project has the characteristics of an investment product, purchase tokens through virtual currency Actually, it is equal to the purchase of currency. This kind of ICO project will be regulated by the Financial Commodity Exchange Act. In addition, in countries that allow "sandbox supervision" pilots, such as the United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia and other countries, ICO projects may first apply to enter the regulatory sandbox for testing. Any existing regulatory agency must fully obtain ICO regulatory authority and must obtain the authorization of the legislative authority. It is not ruled out that some countries or regions will have special legislation on ICOs in the future. As ICO projects are inherently global in nature, cross-border regulatory cooperation may be an important trend.

According to ccn.com, in the future, there will significantly be fewer ICO with weak projects backing them up. The remaining ones would likely be tech startups raising funds to develop innovative ideas and projects. The rest of the market would gradually move towards STO (Securities Tokens Offering) who have "more mature and proven businesses".

Yes mate I totally agree with you. I suppose the amount of ICO will hopefully decrease 10 or 20 times. Large amount of them are scams and copies of existing projects bringing no creative or new ideas to the community.
And the most evil that they are the reason why cryptocurrencies being considered negative and suspicious.
Also I suppose increasing amount of new coins diversifies the amount of market money greatly and we see money flowing from greater projects to the unknown undefined projects.

Knowing that more ICOs are now being going through KYC process and probably this will slowly change the system of being unregulated to regulated. With so many scams that has been happening so some people pushed some rules to make it more strictly and probably this will help minimize the number of ICOs that is only created to scam people. So. I think after 5 years there will be so much more changes that will happen.

So i think more regulations can be added to ICO's in future.

The things you gave us is from some kind of fiction reality, there would be no platform to avoid a scam, just impossible. But more regulations for ICOs sounds good

I think This market has basic coins so It doesn't need new ıcos. We will see more ıcos but few of it will be succesful. I think that we should front to basic coins in market like Eth or ripple because these coins still haven't came real position.

Future of ICOs are always threatened and under fire due to a lot of scam projects that are present today. They bring down with them even those good ICOs with high potential to the dirt. Therefore, ICOs in the future will be a little difficult. It will then be inevitable that ICOs in the future will be highly regulated for strict compliance. This works in the best interest of both investors and developers and even bounty hunters. But for the most parts, taxation might be implemented by then.

But this will ensure that legit ICOs will be entertained.

Not sure what the future will bring but I hope:

1) ICO's are more regulated, less money-grabs
2) Investment options are much more transparent and not too much focused on raking in $30m in a single round
3) Exchanges will perhaps simply add ICO's to their platform, hence bringing more safety (and functions as a third trusted party).

I wouldn't want to see them gone, and a form of high-risk, high-reward needs to be there, as otherwise no one will buy in anymore...
