Post by: Giantreturn18 on April 16, 2018, 01:52:55 AM
   Its April 15th, 2018

The market capitalization of Bitcoin is now 141.75 Billion US Dollars.

The market capitalization of Ethereum is now 52.5 Billion US Dollars.

The market capitalization of Ripple is now 26.75 Billion US Dollars.

The market capitalization of Bitcoin Cash is now 13.6 Billion US Dollars.

The market capitalization of Litecoin is now 7.4 Billion US Dollars.

Will The Market Cap Of Bitcoin Be Overtaken?  If So When?

This question has been asked many MANY times before. Many replies were made, many coins were mentioned but not one of those coins took over BTC in market value.

  • Will The Market Cap Of Bitcoin Be Overtaken?
    Maybe.

  • If So When?
    Maybe in 10 years?

  • And By Who?
    Burst lol.

do you know math? if you know it then asking this question is silly!
Code:
Market cap = X * Y

if you can't change X you can change Y and get the same or bigger M.C.
X is price and Y is the supply.

Code:
Market cap = X * Y
(MC of BTC) $138,483,107,450 = $8,155.60 * 16,980,125 BTC
(MC if SHIT) $138,483,107,450 = X * Y
if X is $10 then Y = 13,848,310,745 (13 billion coins)
if X is $1 then Y = 138,483,107,450 (138 billion coins)
if X is $0.1 then Y = 1,384,831,074,500 (1380 billion coins)

we already have at least 14 altcoins with more than 100 billion circulating coins! and at least 200 coins with more than 1 billion coins. they just have to be pumped to $10 and $1 respectively to overtake bitcoin's market cap!

the real question you should be asking is whether you should even care about it?

The writing is on the wall and its no, Bitcoin will not yet be overtaken by any cryptocurrency maybe in the next 10 years like what one guy wrote Bitcoin is still the leader and the gap will continue because there is no coins coming up now that could challenge Bitcoin supremacy.

Will The Market Cap Of Bitcoin Be Overtaken?
Probably bitcoin won't be overtaken in terms of marketcap in the next few years, but it is quite possible for altcoins with a lot of supply to overtake bitcoin once majority of the people who are into crypto starts to seriously consider buying up altcoins too.
If So When?
I can't say the exact date but I think that will be at least 4-5 years from now or never at all(considering adoption rate and btc price always increases over time). It can happen sooner though since this is just a speculation.

I believe it was overtaken twice already by some shitcoins that got pumped a lot. and it really doesn't need a lot of people to buy that shitcoin either. there are a lot of them with unbelievably huge supplies. I remember there was one shitcoin on yobit which had a huge pump and it went over bitcoin's market cap for a couple of hours last year and the funny thing was its volume was not even 10BTC! :D

The market cap of $142bn that you mentioned will almost certainly be overtaken, I believe that Ethereum already surpassed that value previously, if not it would have been pretty close, I don't remember exactly. The caveat being that bitcoin's market cap will likely be much higher at the point in time when this happens.

In terms of bitcoin not being the top cryptocurrency, it is quite plausible that it will happen one day, nothing ever is dominant forever. The only scenario I foresee in which bitcoin is not replaced as top cryptocurrency is one in which all cryptocurrencies fail. If they stick around and succeed then it's unlikely bitcoin can remain dominant forever, as for when it will be replaced and by what coin, your guess is as good as anyone's.
