Title: Could the thread start date be listed under the thread starter on the index Post by: Jet Cash on April 16, 2018, 02:40:56 PM I'm getting fed up with reading threads only to find it is a useless necro-bump. Would it be easy to add the date of the first post under the name of the thread starter in the index? This would save a lot of time when I am looking for decent threads to reward.

I use this a lot when I'm looking for new topics to read and to filter out the spam megathreads.

I did have a thought afterwards though. It might be better if the start date was under the title if that is easier/possible.

I like this little trick to check the new topics without listing the useless spam topics...I do like your suggestion though. I usually check for new topics on a daily basis, I post in them quite often on the day they were opened (it it worths the effort...). Also if I think that a new topic is just a kind of useless one, I usually wait a day to check if it gets deleted by mods or not... but after a day or two, I usually can't find those interesting topics easily (because of the spam topics) so this can help me a lot, thanks. I was walking on the meta street once I saw what I thought was one of his new topics and I was thinking is it a bug? why didn't I saw it earlier? Then checking the date, euh it is relatively an old one...
Well, situation is more complicated with less known topics/users. So yeah, I support your idea. My difficulty stems from visiting boards that I don't frequent as a matter of routine. The beginner's board for example. If I'm relaxing over a coffee, I quite often have a hunt through some of the boards looking for posts to merit. If I keep hitting necro-bumps, it is not just annoying, but it can cause me to leave the board, and that is a loss of merits for any decent posters in threads that I hadn't got to. |
