I heard about BTC back in 2010. I really wish I had of done some mining back then instead of leaving my computer searching for aliens with SETI@Home. Oh well.

In 2012 at a party, took me a few months more to get my act together

Two weeks ago! Oh so late in the game!

Same here for me. Got interested in this whole Silk Road / Tor / BTC back then. Definitely have know about BTC for a year or two, but didn't really so much research. Bought in when prices were just under $200. Right now it's looking good though, but we'll see how long that lasts!

I heard about Bitcoin a long time ago but always thought it's not gonna work. Got 0.00001 BTC from somewhere and forgot about it. When it reached 400$ i started to read carefully...

Got started early in 2013, but never did some mining, i kinda wished i had done tho..

I heard about bitcoins in 2012 but didn't do any mining until about a month ago.

Started to late into the game too. plenty of lucky fella became millionaire cause of BTC...

Just started few days ago. Just created this account today :)

Got my first bitcoin address when I found deep web.
Added bitcoins to it when Silk Road got seized.

First heard about bitcoin over 2 years ago when I was fooling around in the deep web using the tor browser. Completely ignored it. Having lots of regrets now.

I learned about Bitcoin late in 2012...
in Feb 2013 I decided I wanted to buy some...
I thought it was a huge hassle to buy from an exchange so I went to CL...
I found a guy in my area who said he would meet me and sell me BTC for $20 each (they were around 17 USD at that time)...
After emailing back and forth he eventually flaked out we never met...
I could have been someone...  :'(

Early 2011 or 2012, I'm not quite sure. Just wish that I started using it earlier than I did :/

We heard about it early of this year, 2013; in February-March-ish. It was from our neighbor. My wife and I never took him serious because his wife left him and took away his kids so we thought he was having mental issues.

He discussed almost everything related to this bitcoin. At the end we forgot about it.

In October going to work, UK, I picked up a paper call 'Metro', and it says where I guy bought bitcoins, forgot about it for few years, and now he cash it for about £500k~. Then I took it very seriously and planning on creating a platform for buy/selling bitcoins ;)

I was talking to a coworker on my software team about currency manipulation and howto profit from it and he said theres an upcoming ecurrency I should check out but dont invest because its too volatile. It was around $50 then and I switched from Forex where I actively participated in the ForexFactory board and told them to switch to bitcoin and got laughed at. However as price jumped in April I decided to take the plunge when prices dropped.. however by the time my wire went thru and I was verified with documents which took an extra long time since I had to renew my passport and update bitstamp with the new passport I had to settle for $120 to buy... could have waited as price dipped below to $60 weeks after. Anyways I dont bother with Forex anymore its really gambling over there but it helped me learn how to identify opportunities by looking at charts. That gift will help me for sure in the future here.

I was aware of Bitcoin probably going back as far as late 2009, early 2010. I finished by thesis in Anthropology last year on Makerspaces/Transhumanist movement and I was very close to writing it on Bitcoin, as one of my committee members works in the anthropology of central banking.

I am kick-kick-kicking myself that I didn't invest a year ago. Because I knew was it was and I knew the potential it had.

I literally just bought it. Ah well, at least there's an opportunity once or twice a decade, if you have the foresight.

I first heard about it sometime in 2011, I think it was on the freetalklive.com fourms.

You should have someone cut off your legs and have them use your legs to kick you in the butt many times over, because they were going for less than a penny back then, it was like how many hundreds of BTC for a penny, not how many hundreds of dollars for a BTC.

I heard about them a couple years ago and was in reference to silk road. Brushed them off and didn't even think about it unfortunately. Heard again at the beginning of 2013 and didn't buy my first until May sadly, I soo nearly got a few in January. That bothered me for a while until the recent climb!

I've heard about bitcoin ~2 years ago, more in terms of "pyramid scheme" warning though. Then I forgot it. Then 6 months ago when I had some $$$ which needed to be put somewhere else than sitting alone in the bank account, BTC popped up to my mind again.

I first found out about bitcoins after the $30 crash, during its recovery. I remember that I thought it was absurd when bitcoins hit $10/coin. I sold tons of the coins I bought earlier. Now I realize how much of a noob I was then. I now realize Bitcoin's power rather than just bitcoin.

I can't wait to see what the future holds and I can only hope I look back at this from a few year from now to say "I was still a noob then." I love learning about this stuff and I can only try as hard as I can to become good enough at programming to be able to do what Gavin does.

Just started mining last month. 

It's a fun hobby for me.

I'm only running block erupters so I probably will never make a profit.

I learned of bitcoins about 3 months ago.

I mined for a few weeks or so and gave up.

Since then, I've just been gambling to stay in the bitcoin world.. lol

Few months ago, was causality reading a newspaper online, then curiosity and now i'm really interested and excited about it.

knew about Bitcoin for a while, only just recently started anything with it though. about a month to be exact.

A year ago on some youtube channel. Thought it was just going to be ignored like some invention. Boy was I wrong...

I remember hearing about it back when it first hit the world of nerd. I thought about mining but didnt because i couldnt be assed learning about it. Oh the pain, the pain of it all!

I started after the initial takeoff around March of 2011. I set up miners on my AMD card, and was making a btc every few days initially. My how times have changed.

I heard about it earlier this year when it was still cheap compared to what it is today...

Spring 2011 - i've mined about 0,7 BTC (or so) in ~20h with my ATI HD6950, then sold coins for about few bucks^^

Also, I tried to trade BTC, but it was the top of the first bubble (BTC = 30$ :D ).
When it crashes I dropped everything related to cryptos, untill november 2013.

i first heard  about it by a craigslist ad in april so i just looked everything up for myself. I used to be skeptical but now im becoming a believer more and more.

knew btc for a while as well, wasnt into it until i saw hit 1k haha im so result oriented, but at least it made me read much more about it and its very interesting i like cryptocurrencies :)

I heard about it in october and started buying in early november after doing search on how it works etc.. I started about three years back, in about two weeks it'll be my third anniversary since taking the plunge and joining the Bitcoin community. As a whole it has been a rather interesting experience, with a lot of ups and downs and in particular wisdom gained about humanity (which has in turn led to cynicism). Hope the next three years will be a little better! :)

I started visiting faucets when the price jumped up to $30USD. I thought "Woah! I'm gonna wait for the price to come down from this bubble before I buy up big." I'm still waiting for that ol' bubble to burst so I can buy up big.

we may be in for a bit more pf a wait... best hope would be the gov bans it, then buy while they figure out they cannot ban it.

I don't know if that will happen, best case scenario for the downside buy op.

Or maybe it will fail.

Binary proposition.

I heard about it in 2010 while browsing a game website that accepted bitcoins.. I said to myself "what's bitcoins"? I didn't think much of it so I moved on. So for the past week or so I've been reading news articles about bitcoins, and just until yesterday when it hit about 2k for a bitcoin is when it caught my attention and I decided to take notice.. Really wish I did my research earlier.. but better late than never  :D

I have heard two years ago of bitcoin.
But I did nothing, and now when the price is that high I want to start mining/trading.

I started after the bubble popped in April, but did several newbie errors in daytrading  :-\

i bought my first btc in october 2011.

I heard about bitcoin around 2009 from a friend while attending uni. and was extremely interested/fascinated, so I read about them and used my PC to mine a few. Unfortunately,  I sold @ around $80... Oh well, I am glad that the bitcoin stayed strong!

I started back in the summer. Wish I had been apart of it alot longer.

I started a couple weeks prior to the Silkroad stuff.  I played around with both Bitcoin and a couple of different altcoins trying to get a feel for the whole thing.  Settled on doing Litecoin mining and trading to Bitcoin as needed.  I really should have started earlier on when I heard about it last year, but never had a good opportunity to do it.

I first started trading bitcoins a few months back. Unfortunately the bitcoins were in a online wallet, instawallet. Instawallet was hacked and shutdown in April and I filed a claim to get my bitcoins back. But I am still waiting for the payout from the claim. So my first experience was not that great.

I am now interested in Scrypt-coins and I am mining Casinocoin, Dogecoin and Lottocoin. I earned about 50 dollars last month with a hashrate of 550 kh/s, so not bad. In the future my attention will probably shift to the more energy-efficient (memory-intensive) coins, or coins which calculations have a dual purpose (such as searching for prime numbers).
