Title: Beware of Binance!!
Post by: supertolete on April 18, 2018, 06:46:13 PM
I have read a lot of bugs in Binance.... and now it happened to me.
I can't log in to my account because Binance is not sending SMS.
I opened many tickets and only receive automatic response.

Send a direct Message in Twitter... and nothing... not a word.
Tried to access from my mobile, desktop, laptop, and even a new browser... no SMS to access...
Its been like 6 hours now.

I even lost my chance of selling my Ncash when it began to fall.... thanks to Binance

I read in Steamit that I could access via this  link:
https://www.binance.com/hw_login.html

Anyone knows if that link is legit??

Here is the article:
https://steemit.com/binance/@topproducerzone/binance-login-fix

I strongly recommend CAUTION when trading in Binance...

Did you tried to reach them on their Telegram channel? It may be faster there.

If the system is not sending the SMS so it means you reached the login page ( https://www.binance.com/login.html) then, and the problem comes from the SMS network (?)

Edit: Check this topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2830682.0

https://www.reddit.com/r/BinanceExchange/comments/8d53b7/please_how_do_i_email_binance_support_i_cant_even/
https://www.reddit.com/r/BinanceExchange/comments/8d4x8d/cant_log_into_binance/

They all seem to have the same issue as you are having, and the main problematic countries seem to be India and Pakistan, although probably not just limited to those two countries. What's the response customer support is giving you at the moment? Have you included all the necessary info (https://support.binance.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003783891-Not-Receive-SMS-code) in your support request?

You will just have to wait for them to fix their SMS confirmation system, I guess. There isn't a whole lot you can do if you are using SMS as 2fa. Binance will probably not compensate for any losses incurred.

To avoid this in the future, I think you just need to get Google Authenticator.

Also very very bad idea to use SMS 2FA becoz anyone can take over ur phone number and hijack ur account. U should do Authenticator 2FA instantly.

As LeGaulois says, use telegram for all contacting FB and twitter are outdated. Also, I've had the similar problems with blockchain.info. It's possibly that they're either doing  maintenance or the sms/mail service is down for some reason. Open one ticket and don't bump it, it won't do you good. Also, try checking their announcements for some updates or downtime maybe.

I have seen a case about blockchain.info where the user was not receiving SMS for his 2 factor authentication no matter how much he tried. with some work and contacts with blockchain.info support it turned out that they were in fact sending the SMS but he was unable to receive it because of his service provider.
long story short they sent him the 2FA code though multiple different numbers and he received those instead.

so it may be worth checking with the service provider to see if that is the case for Binance 2FA message also.

yeah most likely it's a problem with your service provider , all you can do is wait till their support respond and try contacting them in all the of their support platforms
after you get your problem solved I strongly advice to use google 2FA instead of mobile verification , it's better and you won't count on your service provider

I have the same problem when I try to register in sites that ask for mobile number , the service providers in Syria are really bad and most of the times I don't get the messages ( been trying to register in Webmoney wallet for over a month now due the very same problem )

Its better to always use google authenticator for 2FA rather than SMS based 2fa as you have to depend on your mobile service provider and binance's SMS api for 2fa code so problem on any one side will keep you lock out of your account. Also chance of losing your mobile number or you might forget to change it on your account before you move to different country is quite high.

Google authenticator comes with simple backup key which will allow you to access platform without any problem.

I have read a lot of bugs in Binance.... and now it happened to me.
I can't log in to my account because Binance is not sending SMS.

because this is your operator's problem, in my country there are 3 mobile operator's, one of which used to have problems receiving sms, months ago for example I could not log in to my blockchain.info account because I did not receive the sms with the verification code and even with binance it was the same thing and I had to change operator to be able to receive the code, what you should do is wait at least 3 days because sms usually arrive only that it takes a long time, at least in my case took 17 hours and after I received the code I immediately changed operator

I opened many tickets and only receive automatic response.

as expected, these exchanges do not have a sufficient number of staff to handle support tickets, and customers always have a problem with no solution for many months

Make sure you have a enough evidence folks.
Thinking that this will be a big wild fire around the bitcointalk.org and other website that is related in crypto currencies and binance it self.
I gonna watch out this thread to warn my friends and ensure all our online coins.

Thanks guys for your inputs!
Thing is, I used to receive Binance sms regularly (many times in a day, every day) until yesterday.
Clearly its Binance bug, not my phone's company.
Besides I get every sms from everybody else, but Binance.
Its sad that an exchange has so many bugs (I read that in January a lot of people got locked out for the same reason) and that the only solution is reset the sms (a process that its so annoying and time consuming) while my assets lay there.
I always support blockchain technology but things like Binance are pushing me to the brink of believing we need Government  regulations, or at least an institution that stand up for us, the investors.

By the way, the Google Auth or even Authy its known for same issues too.

There must be a better way to do Cryptos...

It seems to be fine now with Google Auth. Yesterday it was really hard to access the site. After putting the code, the page got directed to user account and it keeps refreshing by itself. If you go through other pages (ex. Main page, Exchanges, etc.), it shows that the account was still not logged in.

Still no progress with SMS Auth?

do you enable the Two-Factor Authentication feature?

I can't log in to my account because Binance is not sending SMS.

Receiving SMS both depends on Binance and also your operator. I have had loads of issue receiving international sms for verification when I used a certain operator in my country, but that problem disappeared when I just port my number to another operator. It is not wise to use SMS authentication when you already have other great options like Google Authentication 2FA. I suggest waiting it out to receive a reply to your support ticket - it might take a while considering that Binance is a very rapidly growing exchange.

@ jhenfelipe   I am still not receiving sms.

@Guvn0r  I did receive a reply from binance to my ticket... they want me to reset my sms... They are giving me no other option, and that piss me off, because I KNOW the bug is in their end, but the solution is that I do something I just detest (reset sms)... Binance really sucks!! I heard the web site was blinking in Florida...

@Agam dahlian  I don't  know what do you mean with screenshot... I can't log in to my account do you want a screenshot of what? And yes... I had the sms enable because I was using it everyday 'till yesterday!!

SMS verification is somehow convenient on my part and im sure most people would refer this thing rather than on Google ones. Binance exchange do works fine for me but other users do have these kind of issues. Waiting up for a word came from them related to this problem.

You do say binance do suck because of their buggy SMS verification? I dont think so yet i dont have any problems on SMS codes maybe this would be an operator/mobile network issue? because it do work fine for me and i do make use of SMS than on Google 2fa.

There are some exchanges that do really have a lot of bugs so it could be possible that it is the binance platform that has a problem and not the sms network. I have experienced something like this on the other platform exchanges and it took me a week before it got resolve. For suggestion, it could be better if you use the google authentication app on your phone, it is just too easy to use once you scan the QR code.

Just for SMS request you are opening a thread and trolling the Binance exchange, See you have to find all possible before posting the thread because we are getting active responses from the Binance support. Sometimes there are issues with the system and you need to complain about it because they will understand the problems and start resolving it.

There must be a better way to do Cryptos...

there is!
decentralized exchanges, side chains, atomic swaps are the three solutions for trading cryptocurrencies in a way that you don't need a third party platform to sign up and leave your coins in. with these solutions you will have a decentralized place to meet other traders and do the trade and be done with it.
the downside is that they are not yet improved enough to have all the features of a centralized exchange and they are a bit harder to use for now.

@stomachgrowls @btcdiggingmaster : Just because you do not have any issues doesn't mean Binance doesn't have bugs. And dealing with people's money Binance should be more professional.
If you take the time to do your research you will find HUNDREDS of cases just like mine around the globe, from January 2018 on (sources: Reddit, Telegram, Steemit and many more), so it's CLEARLY not a network/OP issue but Binance's. This is NOT trolling, just addressing a huge bug on Binance, because of that I haven't been able to trade this week (yeah I know you should never leave your tokens on an exchanger...).
And even worse it's the solution... reset sms (A total annoying and time wasting way).

@Pursuer  Thanks for the info! Can you name some of them so I can check them out?

Waves DEX, Etherdelta and 0x are some of the more popular DEXes out there. I’ve personally used all three and regularly use Etherdelta for some tokens that are exclusively listed there, and IIRC Etherdelta is the most widely used out of the three I listed.

Waves DEX supports coins and not just tokens like Etherdelta or 0x, but unfortunately volume is somewhat low on it, which is common among all DEXes. They’re just not the most popular option most of the time, unfortunately.

cryptsy also was a legit and popullar exchange.
The point is don't put your trust on the centralized exchange, there's always a possibility for the site to have problem even the worst like the site is going offline forever, I use so many exchanges including binance but i never store huge amount out there once i got profit I immediately cash out them to my decentralized wallet.

This is a login problem that you are facing in this scenario and I'm sure Binance will have it fixed in no time. Of course you lost the valuable time that you could've sold some of your crypto at a decent price but then again you can't crib about it because it's already over now. This isn't even the worst case scenario with respect to shady exchanges as many a times user funds have gone missing without any logs.

It should be mandatory. I understand how you are somewhat afraid of using it again after everything that happened, but in current time and day, people not using 2FA, according to me, should lose the right to complain about malicious activity with coin loss as result. In most cases a lot of coin theft due to malicious activity could have been prevented easily with 2FA. Even if you face the same problems again, I rather have that than my account emptied by hackers. Security should always have more importance than convenience. On top of that, it's impossible to know if activating 2FA will bring back the same problems. It may very well be smoothly working now.

What is the problem for mandatory implementation of 2FA? This shows that the site is serious with their site security and users will be at ease with that. Maybe you can't see the real value of 2FA right now since you surely not encounter any hacking so far.

Another alternative is by using google Authentication to avoid delay in SMS  2FA delays, if your phone  is android OS download  google AUTH this is not only an alternative to 2FA it also secure your wallet against any threat by hackers.

t's a good thing that the support unit replied you and tried to resolve the issue. You may dislike using the  Two Factor Authentication thing, but it's also for your own good.  And I believe that now they have resolved the issue,  probably, it might not reoccur again. Just make sure you check if your number is updated and your connection is stable. This is the more reason why one shouldn't be leaving their coins in exchange.

Binance has such an easy joining procedure and they do not even ask you for your KYC. 2FA is the least you can do in order to make your account secure. I am sure you do not want to end up with your account being compromised if someone else manages to break into your account somehow. By enabling 2-Factor-Authentication, you would ensure that such a scenario won't take place.
Binance is one of the most reputed exchanges out there and their customer support is also very responsive. I wouldn't doubt them.

If not, they want you to reply to this email and they will reply back to you (which i assume will take few more days again). God, they need to fix their english.

Problem is that they have an awful way to deal with their shortcomings (like failing to send sms and blaming you).
Google auth. worked for me just fine.
Anyway, I would strongly advise not to keep your coins there (or any exchange).
Binance has a smooth trade and withdrawal platform, so I will keep using them.

I don't know why people are complaining about the Binance exchange, Binance is very powerful exchange which they are following all security measures. I don't find anything wrong with the Binance exchange and even listing they are looking for potential coins.

Well I may say that Binance is one of the best exchange out there in regards with the feature, security as well as the design of the site itself however when I registered in Binance and activated my SMS authenticator not less than 24 hours I experience the problem the OP experienced.

Well I tried to raise a ticket and after an hour I received an Email regarding to the Binance Support and we have some conversation and the support asked me if I want to disable my Authenticator however I need to pass a KYC First before doing that.... Of course I don't want to (Personal Reason).

And after 2-3 hours all the codes I requested came to my phone all at once. I think the problem is the system of the Binance regarding of sending codes via SMS.

SMS notifications can really cause problem and in my opinion it  has nothing to do with Binance but to what service it uses for their SMS notifications. I've tried developing an app before which requires SMS notifications and it does really sucks since I am only paying them $5 per month for their service. I suggest if you could used another 2fa security I guess that Binance have another option

You are on the right path and don't forget to save the secret code that you put in 2fa because you can recover your google 2fa once your laptop or cell phone is stolen by the thieves or for your future recovery once the apps is no longer working.

I experience on receiving delayed SMS code from binance that is why I switch my account SMS authentication to 2fa and save the secret code for my future recover and now both my phone and laptop had 2fa so that I can open the binance account one the phone is gone.

Another alternative is by using google Authentication to avoid delay in SMS  2FA delays, if your phone  is android OS download  google AUTH this is not only an alternative to 2FA it also secure your wallet against any threat by hackers.

Yes, it is another powerful security where people should use in order to secure their wallet from the thefts. I am using it from the beginning, this makes us to secure our wallets from the hackers.

There are some factors why you are unable to receive your sms maybe its telco problem in the service provider itself or in your mobile phone, sms authentication is not 100% guaranteed that you will receive it on time in my experience there are always some delays some advised are correct use google auth instead its proven to many users.

SMS service issue can be caused by network provider or party who provide service to binance . always use 2FA instead of SMS service bcoz that is much faster and secure way to login in exchange . and it do not depend on any network . binance support is good and they must ave resolved it in some days .

Just use Google Authenticator (or Authy) and you'll do fine.

we can only trust google Authenticator bcoz other developers can close their app anytime , few months back one such 2FA app was closed and many people got stucked with no option , people who saved keys were safe as they login with that key .

How exactly were people not able to log in? If everyone backed up their recovery keys, which is what you would expect people to do when activating the 2FA option, then there is nothing to lose. On top of that, it's quite dangerous and stupid to use third party authentication applications when it comes to services as important as crypto exchanges. I don't really understand why people keep making the same mistake again and again. Everyone takes care of their bank security properly, but when it comes to crypto people ignore the security aspect. Isn't that weird?

I checked their app and it says sms is for China mainland only.
So I am imagining this option for 2fa security is not available who are not within China for some reason.
The only other option is google authenticator which works just fine to enable the 2fa security for the exchange.

Yes, they need to save their private keys inorder to protect ourselves and our accounts. Otherwise, when the authentication fails means we cannot able to retrieve it. So we should focus on saving them in seprate place where it is secured in order to protect our wallets.

And that's the reason why cryptos are faaaaaar from widespread adoption.
Just picture a wealthy business person, trying to invest millions in a specific coin and BOOM!! he can't login to Binance... what do you think he will do next?
This kind of mishaps of Binance are a proof of the mediocrity of their staff.

I thought about that as well before even when binance indicated that 2fa through text is only for those located in china and i decided against it. Probably the glitch was that you were able to receive sms even when you're in the US. Glitches tend to get detected in time. It's good that you're already using google authenticator, just make sure you have a separate copy of the keys in case you lose your phone or it gets broken. Binance is still the best exchange for me personally

I find google authenticator as a good option rather than sending an SMS because sometimes you didn't know if your SMS services is fast enough to send the codes automatically. Compared to google authenticator, you can just simply put the codes even if there's no internet or SMS services provider.

Well i am also from India but i never faced any issues like that...i strongly believe and trust binance and if some users are facing this problem i am pretty sure that they will solve this issue very soon....try contacting binance on telegram as well.

Most of the times the problem with receiving SMS can be a network problem.SMS authentication requires 3rd party involvement, so you can't blame binance for this and call it a bug.
Use gAUTH or authy like apps for authentication, then you won't face any such "bugs" again.
IMO, Binance is the best trading platfrom. Nothing is perfect.

Perhaps, you just experienced a sudden maintenance of Binance. Binance won't make things like that and it will ruin their reputation and lose all their users. Just make sure that you are not a staff of another exchange because it sounds you don't know what you are saying.

Sure if all of the people who experienced the same problem will reach to their team, and this issue will be addressed, they could fix it.
Normally, a certain exchange may experience an issue, but what separates a good exchange from the others is, how responsive the team is when theres an issue.

Binance seems to be working fine to me. I've been using Binance for months now and so far so good. My log in was smooth. Just had a problem when i sell and buy at market price. Sometimes you see insufficient funds message. Anyway, it's just a minor issue. I think it's normal to happen when high volume exchange is taking a lot of volume from traders which makes the server to lag. Each user do experience some problems and might not being experience for some thats why they cant make such comment. Even me do experience problems with binance but not really a major thing but it was already resolved and this is just a basic thing on where exchanges should do. Basing out on the current popularity or standing of binance this is one of the most reputable exchangers as of now they do retain it by giving out good service into its users. Same question for op yet he didnt give any update regarding on this.

Also very very bad idea to use SMS 2FA becoz anyone can take over ur phone number and hijack ur account. U should do Authenticator 2FA instantly.
Yeah agree with you. With SMS 2FA, messages often arrive late, sometimes for an hour. With Google Authy, you can log in faster, and more secure.
