Title: Am I wrong to report these topics as "Low quality spambait topic. Read OP."?
Post by: Wind_FURY on April 23, 2018, 06:01:15 AM
I have reported some of them twice or maybe 3 times already but nothing happens. Are these topics really of "good quality"?

I would say some of them are crap like this one:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3285115.0

and some others are not quality but no bad:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3337202.0

I suppose they don’t want to go too hard locking or deleting threads. Some people would delete the entire Bitcoin Discussion board, plus Gambling, plus alts and many threads of other parts but that would be too drastic.

Bitcoin Discussion is a repository for some of the most ridiculous combinations of words ever put together.  Some of them are so bad they're laughable, but most of the time when I'm in that section reading posts, it's not laughter that I experience.  It's pure run-to-the-bathroom revulsion (slight exaggeration).

Take a look at the most recent feedback I've left.  I think I uncovered a bunch of accounts that were either hacked or bought, and they're all accounts from 2010-2014.  I won't mention exactly how I found them all, so I don't give the shitposters any ideas on how to cloak their spamming--though it'd be very hard for them to do so--but let's just say that their posts, across all of those accounts, were very similar in style.  And the style was pure shit.

If mprep is reading this, please take a look at my recent left feedback.  It took quite some time to do all of that, and I'm not done.  The posts probably should have been reported as well, but I'm beat and my eyes are buggy again.

There was a mod who did a great job locking many low quality topics but he stopped. I wish he kept on going.

I understand the concern with locking some of the topics on your list because they are spam magnets.

Just a gentle reminder though, this is forum is a place to encourage anyone and everyone to participate and discuss bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. By aggressively banning posts like these we risk becoming elitist jerks to newcomers and potential bitcoin users. I believe topics like these come with adoption and is something we must embrace.

My opinion is that questions whether silly or intelligent should be welcomed. An option we could consider is to move topics like these to the "beginner & help" forum. That way they won't be counted in signature campaigns (which will hopefully reduce the spam posted on them) and at the same time not be as offensive (to the poster) as getting your topic locked or deleted.

I'm also a human, same as the other staff members, from time to time, I take some break...  :) Besides, we can't take everything out in a few days, weeks or even months...

I’ve reported loads of low quality posts over the years yet my report accuracy is 95%. I don’t know how it isn’t 100% to be honest, I’m not stupid. I know what a shit post is yet only at 95% accuracy.

Oh well.

If a thread has 400 replies out of 450 saying that you should buy Bitcoin when the price goes down and sell when it goes up. when they all are bounty participants posting in there. if you don't trash that thread could mean one thing, you don't care about the quality of discussions.

I think if forum charges a fee per post to have your post count and activity increased and have no post count and activity increased if you are not paying a fee per post or one time fee like $200. all of the members with multiple accounts will stop posting like they are posting now. as long as posting is free and it earns them money, they will never stop.

Somebody please make a thread with my suggestions, I don't want to do it to give anybody any excuse for meriting me. lol. I'm very humble, don't give me 50 merits for suggesting to other people to perform oral sex in public. second lol.

We need more of this kind of threads, be the mob that you are and keep at it. [mob-rule].

It's best to block it before it starts then.

Remove the avility to post in Serious Discussion from Juniors.

Restrct new members with fewer than 5 merit to the beginners, meta boards, and create a new beginners help board.

Agree, but not meta. Or create a separate meta for Juniors. The amount of merit spam in here, rehashing the same topic and replies 1000 times, is already ridiculous. Can you imagine how bad it would be if merit actually limits their posting too?

This is true, there is too much spam on Bitcointalk and discussion quality is much lower as a few years ago. I just can't ignore it anymore and I started to report all these spammers and account farmers. Only in 2 days, I reported 40 posts and topics with 88% accuracy. There were all kinds of abuse spam, off-topic, bots, account farming, etc. I haven't searched for this abusers on purpose only used report button when I was surfing on BTT.

This scale is just overwhelming and we have to encourage all members to use the report button. I don't see any topics about this. Maybe this is a good idea to create a tutorial with information how to properly do it. Before I started to report I was searching for such a thread to prepare myself and to be sure that I'm not breaking any rules but I haven't found one. I think this informations could be helpful especially for new accounts. Such a topic should be sticky to advertise reporting to BTT members and encourage them to do it.

Don't worry, actmyname is doing his/her best to eliminate these low quality posters or should we call "Shitposters/Spammers". I don't know if he/she is a mod but actmyname is doing everything to reduce spam posts in the Forum :)

To OP, is it okay to leave a negative feedback to these shitposters after reporting them? Because I would really like to.

Check out this one

This one is a certified Spammer  :D
Oh geeez.

A few days later and I have already 837 reports with an accuracy of 100%.

How to report topic flooded with spam, where 90% of answers are "great project", "wish you luck"?
How to report a spammer with 80% of 2 words posts in his account?
Using report button and describe everything?

Or maybe there is a better, another way to do it?
