Title: Best flags for GUIMiner with 6770 & 6950 ???
Post by: Elder III on August 02, 2011, 10:31:53 PM
Hey all, I have a half dozen HD 6770s and a trio of HD 6950s that are all mining away for me.  I am using GUIMiner (latest version) on Windows 7, both machines are dedicated miners and all GPUs are Overclocked but none are overvolted (yet).  I also have the memory underclocked to 600, which is the lowest Afterburner allows by default.

So my question(s) are as follows:

Should I edit Afterburner to allow me to underclock the memory below 600?  Temperatures are fine on all GPUs as is, so unless it actually raises hash rate I don't see any reason to go lower?

What flags work best with my 6770s in the above described conditions?

What flags work best with my 6950s in the above described conditions?

Thanks to everyone!

Just lowering memory clock for lower temperatures isn't the sole point. The heat is generated from electricity. Less electricity used = less heat, and also smaller power bill, which means more money in your pocket at the end of the day.

You might want to look at the graph found here. It's pretty interesting. It's concerning memory clock speeds, different kinds of vectors, and different work sizes. YMMV

I discovered that 200mhz and 256 worksize gives the best hashrate on my card

Well, my power draw is 108 watts for the 6770s as they are right now, which is the manufacturer specs for tdp I believe.  Does anyone have data for how much of a power reduction I could expect if I lower the memory to 200-300 mhz range (@ 600 now)?

I will try 256 workrate instead of the 128 I have been using, thanks for the replies guys. :)

256 doesn't work unless you're underclocking lower to like 350mhz and lower

I need to know a few things 4 my Radeon Hd6950
1.How can i improve system stability when overclocking?
2.what r the best setting ppl have found for that card that gets the maximum possible hash power
3.What are the flags for best performance
4.What are the best clock speeds (core and mem clocks) that people have found for getting high hashrates (my card is unclocked and OC'd to 890mhz and 947mhz mem)?
5.If overvolting is necessary how can I go about this without damaging my card,or making my system unstable?

Yeah< I noticed that; it actually lowered my M/hash rate by several hashes.  I'm getting a range of 212-217 as it is right now, which I'm pretty happy about, but I will try lowering the memory to 300 later today and see how it does.

I have basically the same GPU setup albeit replace the 6770 for a 5770 though, lol. You might try some of the settings here (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison) and use some of the modified files from here (http://bitcointalk.org/?topic=7964.0) or Diapolo's Kernel if you can find it on the forum.
