There are a lot of altcoins, but there are not many coins available. Do you mean that the actual number of coins is low? From what I see of this coin 38.58 coins/block halving every month your not going to have all that many coins yourself, apart from the ones with a very short mining period (like in days/weeks) many coins mint significantly more than what this would for a longer or indefinite period.
