I think these are the only three possibilities.

If bitcoin reaches a price whereby I can purchase a house for 10 BTC without having to take out a 25 year mortgage.

I'll get out, and into something else.

If it was possible to do so, I'd also buy the house with BTC otherwise I'd have to cash out into fiat first to make the purchase.

Seeing as even buying a house for bitcoin wouldn't = selling.. I'm not selling.. ever.

If bitcoin is successful enough for the value to become stable + interesting goods and services pop up I'll obviously spend them instead of my fiat currency. If bitcoin starts being used for other things (like identity verification and property management) I might use it for that too.. who knows.

If bitcoin fails.. well, then my coins aren't worth anything so I'll just get on with my life I guess.

I generally favor buying things with bitcoin rather than converting to fiat, but in the case of a large purchase like a house, you might be better off taking out a mortgage. Inflation is good for debtors. You could pay 10 BTC at the time of purchase, or you could take out a fiat mortgage. Maybe you would have to convert 1 BTC to fiat for the down payment and first year mortgage payments, but in the second year the amount of bitcoin you would need to convert to fiat would be less because bitcoin's value relative to fiat would have risen, and each year thereafter your bitcoin cost to pay the mortgage would be less and less, so that by the end of the 25 years you would have paid less than the 10 BTC would have paid to buy the house at the beginning. Sorry, I think that was a run-on sentence.

I will sell the rest of bitcoins I have for some amount of money. I always try to keep certain amount for trade and "manipulating" market, the rest is converted into cash and spent/saved...

Bitcoin is my hedge against a meltdown.

If everyone goes belly up in my country some years from now I will have a stash of currency available to me regardless of where I end up.

my vote is:

Sell bitcoin for fiat.
Buy things with bitcoin.
Hold bitcoin a long time.

I completely agree. Why would anyone do only 1 thing?

I just hope we continue to see more and more legitimate accepting places.

I'm gonna hold until I die; after all, what's the use in money if you can't take it with you to the afterlife?

I've bought lots of shit in bitcoin's short history, but now I only have <10.  So I'm gonna hold for a while.  At some point I'll cash out... my current goal is when I have enough to pay off my house I'll do it.  If I get the "money burning a hole in my pocket" feeling before then I'll hold out until I can buy a new sailboat in the $50k range.

But somewhere along the line I'll probably see a really sweet gun I want for around $10k and will probably bail for that :)
