I will agree in all that you said. Bitcoin is the most dominant cryptocurrency because of that reason. First is that it is really the first cryptocurrency that we've ever used and because if that many people knows it so it became popular to them and for most of the country that using cryptocurrency. And also one factor why bitcoin is being dominant it is because of the value of bitcoin, we all know that the bitcoin value is much higher compare to altcoins so many people are investing on it.

The most important are that it's widely known and recognized in the field that's new and unrecognized as a whole. Maybe 1 of every 100 people in the world has heard of BTC and knows what it is, while maybe 1 out of 500 knows some other altcoins. I don't know the real numbers, i'm only estimating here, but I know people who are tech savvy and they know barely anything about BTC and completely nothing about altcoins.

As far as my opinion, bitcoin is so valuable because of its popularity. By comparison, the bitcoin technology is inferior to the new coin, but because bitcoin is a long-developed coin in the market so people trust bitcoin and this has made the price. Its value is high.

To me, Bitcoin has always been and will always be dominant in the near future UNLESS a new cryptocurrency will come by that has similar popularity brought about by its price BUT has something way better to offer in terms of transactions vis-a-vis transaction costs.

Newer ones will surface which are prettier (design) and faster (functionality), they may be added as medium of exchanges. But they will not replace BITCOIN as the main driver in crypto value.
The network (people, developers, miners) has already chosen Bitcoin. This is the one that will remain the bedrock protocol, no matter how crummy and ineffective it may seem in 10 years.

Compare it to TCP/IP or SMTP protocols. They are not the best solutions for information transfer, but they were adopted and chosen as the bedrock. The industry then gives up looking for alternatives and starts producing based on the consensus. All additional layers are added on top.

And in some exchanger before you can change to another crypto you have to convert your altcoin first to bitcoin before you can buy deferent altcoins or even cash out.
