Title: Come hell or high water, I'm holding
Post by: datguywhowanders on August 06, 2011, 06:38:50 PM
I'm irrational, illogical, and emotionally invested. Anybody with me?

Not yet.  I need to see people willing to risk additional money as opposed to being content as bagholders.  I want to see difficulty rocketing back up.  Until then I know I can buy cheaper later -- if I care to.

Get back to me when you're afraid of missing the rocket ride up.

I'm holding, and I believe I'm making a quite rational and sound decision.

I just want the "real" bottom to come,  so that the trolls can finnally just go away and we can have some peace back here. We all have a serious amount or work to do, and all the fluctuations do is take us away from our projects which are the keys to growing this economy in the first place...

I am going to sell even at 8 dollars like clock work. As I mine them I sell. I will just end up with an average price
over the months which is probably at 14-15 right now.

The trolls will never go away. They're not here by accident. The notion of a decentralized, deflationary, uncounterfeitable currency is remarkably dangerous and scary to some people... That's why the trolls are here.

Although it would be quite unfortunate for the current investors if the price fell bellow $0.50,  I would defiantly buy at that point.  I am currently willing to loose an the cash I invested as the ride has been worth the money.  Again I would cation others not to invest more than they are willing to loose and for FSM sake use some form of strong encryption on your wallet.

Would you still be willing to buy if the difficulty was e.g., 20,000?  How about 200,000?  Is your decision based on a 2 million difficulty and monthly growth of 20+%?

At what difficulty would you consider $.50 a good vs bad investment?   Would the rate of network growth or shrinkage influence your decision, or did you not even consider difficulty in your "definitely buy" decision?

who wants to bet that at least half the people panicking and selling were people bitching earlier on how they missed the ground floor back when bitcoins were cheap.

the mybitcoin hack sucks, which is quite an understatement but that is a problem with mybitcoin. With bitcoin nothing really has changed. Bitcoin isnt being banned anywhere really. it hasnt been hacked. No one is really messing with the block chain. And back to externals on the good side, ruxum is expanding to new currencies, development is churning right along.

This really is an opportunity for people willing to take it. I cant say where the bottom is, and it will probably be a long climb out, but I see this more as opportunity than something bad.

Hey it even looks like mining diff might actually drop for a change... wouldnt that be nice.

once one of those $100,000 order guys figures out he'll never get his money back, he'll sell all to regain any money he has lost from a stupid decision.  If he waits any longer, he'll have nothin. I'm sure he'd rather sell at $7 than $6 or even $5 or worse.

That almost sounds like one must hoard Bitcoins to be part of the "building nice things" community.

I speculate, meaning I do sell when I think the price will drop, yet I do wish to *use* Bitcoin for trading in the future. I'll just buy some again when I need 'em (or think their value will rise). Am I a traitor now? *shrug*

There's a lot of potential for Bitcoin. Just not in mainstream speculation mania and hoarding.

First, somebody bought up $7.5 to $8.5 (spending about $50k USD) and then put a $40k bid wall for 5k BTC at $8.5.

A seller called that bluff, and sold through the wall (about $40k worth of BTC), pushing the price down to ~$7.12.  Now there's very little depth between $7.1 and $8.5.

The players in this game have over $100k to play with.  Little guys are just dust in the wind.

Just happened again.  In the thin volume, a bull put up a wall at 7.7 with a bid for $40k.  A seller sold through the wall, pushing price down to 7.05.  The sell was almost 9k BTC.

You know the big trades are individual players because they are volume spikes on the 1-minute chart.

Price would go down to orders at $1 level, then sharply spike back. And I'd be happy.

Here's an interesting concept.

HOLD but inject NEW USD to BUY bitcoins at a heavily discounted rate.

Thereby for me, it'll balance out not selling @ $13.

Buy @ 7.83, sell at $8.5, buy at $7.5, sell at $8.5.... etc etc. (Not as easy as that but you get the idea, slowly regaining losses).

They pulled this maneuver once again but with a little bit more creativity :)

Unlike last night attempt at pump and dump with an obvious wall. Tonight's not only did they make the large purchase at once.

They moved the "staggered buy wall" by (6 to 6.5, 6.5 to 7, 7 to 7.5) but

Just like last night we need someone to call the bluff and purchase 50k worth of btc again in one go. :P

Well... I'm glad I braved it out and didn't sell. I could have participated in the panic, but I didn't. Now I'll just continue to sit here and wait. If I find I need something, I'll go buy it with Bitcoins. However, I don't think I'll be selling on the exchange in the near future.

Indeed, but then I would have actually had to watch the market, worry, stress, and wonder. Instead, I just said screw it, wrote it off as a possible loss, and enjoyed the weekend. Going long is so much easier :)
