Title: Safest way of selling bitcoins?
Post by: FriedTaco on August 06, 2011, 07:36:45 PM
Is there any truly safe way of selling bitcoins? I've been looking at bitcoinexchange.cc, though I'm a bit uneasy about using this as somewhere to get money for my bitcoins. I hate using paypal, but I don't feel safe giving out my bank info either, so a way to get cash for my bitcoins would also be nice to know.

Thank you in advance to all who are helpful.

I don't know in what country you live but giving out your bank info should be save.

If this isn't the case, how should money transfer work?

Paypal (and others too) of course isn't save at all for sellers.

Exchanging your BTC for cash as in actual banknotes means meeting someone in person.

There are a few sites that can help you to find someone in your area.

http://btcnearme.com/ (http://btcnearme.com/)
https://bitmarket.eu/faq

There is also the #bitcoin-otc and #bitcoin-otc-eu IRC channels, though these days you have to wait a week after registering and be able to follow the instructions to cryptographically authenticate to get in.

There is always risk in all transactions, but I have been successful selling my bitcoins on Mt. Gox and sending the USD to a Dwolla account. From Dwolla, you can send to a checking/savings account. Mt. Gox charges a small commission (0.03% last I knew) for the sale and only $0.25 for the Dwolla transfer.

Mt Gox does have other options to send the money to you, if you cannot get a Dwolla account (they only operate inside the US for now - last I checked).

I agree, but it's a risk too.

You can never bee 100% sure that one isn't changing false money into real, secure but also anonymous Bitcoins.

I think bank accounts are more secure than cash.
