Title: Cryptsy - Any Good??
Post by: jonanon on November 30, 2013, 10:08:55 AM
Wondering if there are any long time users of Cryptsy that have any pointers to trading with them?

I think, because they don't get involved with USD, they may be a lot more trustworthy than other exchanges, what does anyone think?

Luckily Cryptsy is planning on implementing USD markets as soon as possible, things could be looking great here very soon.

top notch exchange. even though I should note that their deposit clearance seem slow right now compared with before.

but even with that, they still way ahead of the rest.

I haven't used it myself.
But, according to what I see here on bitcointalk, it is a highly rated alt-coin exchange.

I've used it several times in the last couple weeks and it always worked.

It might change in the future but right now I'd use it again.

This is generally where things tend to go wrong actually. A lot of the USD exchanges have been having issues recently and some have been having persistent issues for a while (e.g Gox). I'm not sure how Cryptsy is going to avoid the same issues with regards to it all but it will be interesting to watch how it turns out.

If you check the number of accounts being created in the past week or so Cryptsy has seen some exponential growth in total user base. Today (Saturday) is supposed to be the day they add some more servers, so I'm really hoping that stabilizes some of the issues we're having lately. It was incredibly disappointing to see MEC today on Cryptsy get stuck at around $1.50 when the Chinese exchanges were hitting $3.00 as well as other general difficulties. If they do manage to get some new servers up and running, Saturday is usually their day to add coins to an exchange so I would recommend checking out some of the voting threads for getting new coins on Cryptsy, as well as hanging out in the chat once it's back up to pick up on some news if you want a good shot at profit.

I'm curious if anybody else has taken a look at purchasing Cryptsy stock? I feel like that investment is going to continue to grow in the kind of bull market we're in right now with alt-coins, this week should be their biggest payout yet. Since they only have a limited amount in existence to my knowledge, I feel like missing out on that opportunity could be a huge regret later down the line. It should be interesting to see also when USD markets come into play, seems like 6 months ago it was difficult for a coin to breach 200k market cap, and now (http://coinmarketcap.com/) 200k seems laughable; new coins on lower tier exchanges are hitting 500k market caps before Cryptsy. If we're seeing that already, USD markets will be absolutely incredible for Cryptsy - let's hope their servers can maintain stability for it to be a success.

It's a sure thing introducing USD/EUR trading will bring problems to the site, but let's hope it won't alter the quality of coin/coin trading.
