Go and vote for Satoshi! :D

I think Satoshi would rather qualify to win the 'unknown person of the year 2013'.

Yes, yes, yes.. This is going to be my new pet conspiracy theory I'm going to foster until proven otherwise. Maybe even in the _face_ of proof! We will see.

For killing arabs/muslims and doing pretty much the exact opposite of everything he said he would/wouldn't do?

I was wondering if Satoshi could win something like this or Time's Person of the year award or whatnot. Didn't Anonymous win it one year?

I'd vote for Edward Snowden. I'm not sure Bitcoin has broken through enough into the mainstream yet. Maybe next year.

Exactly  ::)
And i agree about voting for Snowden. There has been a lot of talk about the whole controversy for him not to win. Not to mention that technically Satoshi hasn't been directly involved in the bitcoin community for a long time.

Snowden is a good choice, but fiat is far more dangerous than any spy agency.

Wrong. And you could use gold or silver to not have to use fiat.

Nothing will happen to the market, it's not like he will try to cash out 1M BTC x $1000 at once.

The market will collapse seconds later if he moves even 1 bitcoin. Everyone will start wondering why satoshi is selling and panic will spread not much later.

Actually i think that there are people that indeed know and if not they can find out easily. I haven't done a research on that but how hard that could be. I mean how many people were into bitcoin during the early days / months.  Satoshi and Gavin and a few others i guess  :P :P

I'm not sure if you know how "Person of the Year" works but there is no prize to claim a'la Nobel or Oscar.  You can win "Person of the Year" and remain anonymous.

I don't find it odd at all. I don't think that a pure genious like satoshi has any need to sell his coins and buy a boat or a ferrari.
Also i don't think that he want's to give the impression that bitcoin is a pump and dump scheme. If he sells his coins many haters will claim that.

No, but he has to eat, and when you become a billionaire it's hard not to spend a little of your cash no matter how unmaterialistic he may or may not be.

I guess he is eating the same things he was eating before bitcoins. I can't see how anyone can spend the billions of dollars satoshi owns in food or in anything else whatsoever.

Give a tramp a million dollars and see if he still eats food from bins. Give me a million dollars and see if I ever eat Ramen noodles ever again. I never said he has to spend them all, but his money is sitting in wallets doing nothing.

If somebody gave you or anybody else billions I'd find it odd if you or they just kept it in a bank and did nothing with it.

Satoshi isn't you or me. What i 'm trying to say is that the guy is obviously in a whole different level and that he is considering seriously every single move he makes. Don't forget that he managed to stay anonymous so far. I don't think that he 'll ever use any coins that can reveal his identity or risk in any way what he created.

How do you know? I could be Satoshi ;D. Him being on a whole different level is part of his myth; he's only human at the end of the day. A pioneer for sure, but look at all the cryptocoins that have popped up in his wake. Nobody even knows if he is even one person. Why does he wish to remain anonymous? Maybe he doesn't and one day will reveal himself. Maybe he's biding his time waiting for his billion to become a trillion? Who knows; it's all speculation.

You can still track the blocks from the Satoshi mining era.
Very few of those have ever moved , and if they moved they did long before the price went nuts and there are traces where they went. Early guys one this project.
Most of the blocks believed to be mined by Satoshi himself are untouched.

I agree that his myth grows more with all that anonymity about him but i think he is doing it because he is kinda paranoid and believes that what he created might disrupt a lot of things and make some powerfull people unhappy. And you know what they say about paranoid people? That even paranoids have enemies. That's why i 'm saying that he isn't going to risk anything just to buy a car or something.

I understand that, but I don't think his world would've come tumbling down around him if he had bought a car or purchased some foie gras a year or two ago haha. I guess it makes it even more difficult to move the cash now as time goes on with more and more people watching it like hawks. It is an interesting story/myth either way and it's exciting to see what happens.  I just can't comprehend him not dipping into it at all. Even for a relatively unmaterialistic person, sitting in front of a billion and not touching it at all seems quite bizarre. I guess you could speculate eternally on his motives and whereabouts and reasons for hoarding his cash etc.
