Title: [SCAMMER] 50BTC.com
Post by: Qbert on December 06, 2013, 01:26:04 AM
What happened::

50BTC.com (member) ran 50BTC.com mining pool.  On about October 18 2013 the pool stopped payouts of mining earnings.  Suspiciously, this was right after an announcement that they would be switching to DGM reward method from PPS.  50BTC.com (member) has not been on the forum since October 28, 2013. 50BTC.com claims pool was conveniently hacked and all mining earnings were lost.  Lack of communication and avoiding questions from pool members makes the situation appear very fishy.

Yes, there is no status update from them for a while now but I think it’s a little bit early to start a scam topic. Think for yourself:
- why are they communicating at all (through Bitcointalk status updates, Skype etc.) ? If it was a scam they could’ve just shut everything down and disappear. There is no logic here.  Maybe they’ve frozen payments and using our funds on mtgox, btce or smth.
- probably their brand due to the large amount of users is worth much more than they’ve lost during the hack, so there is no point in leaving such product behind.
- they had a good reputation and have been a largest pool for a long time. Yes, they’ve lacked stability, but everything else was fine
- 50BTC.com hashrate only a couple months ago was amongst top3 bitcoin pools

Also I assume there are a lot of processes going in the same time in 50btc: coding, testing etc. so there is not much time left for support and public relations in general.  I guess everybody here knows that 50BTCs’ “2 weeks” are not 2 weeks at all… I still hope they will return my 2.15 BTC.  :)

classic scam tactic.  many scammers do this.  I'd refer you to pirateat40.

Now you are just being silly.  Do you have any idea how much they walked off with?

JackPatrick,

Based on your post history, I have to surmise you are a 50btc shill? Sorry.. I have no loyalties to any pool.

I got to say, I'm stunned at the amount of btc people are leaving with pools.  I have to think that people leaving that amount of coin in the hands of pools and their pool operators is part of the reason for pools being able to pull off shit like this.  Hasn't anyone heard of daily withdrawals?

Meh, I had about 13.37036 in Heaven Sent Gaming's account there. And 8.5731 in my personal account there. Those coins were mined late last year to early this year. I usually try to have top tier mining equipment, so this is a small fraction of Bitcoin I've had.

According to the corrupted database I had BTC150+, lol I'm rich! Just kidding, this is why I keep a physical ledger of all my Bitcoin transactions. All other users should do the same, or try to maintain a personal record outside of your wallet. Also, backup your wallet in a safe place, not just the default spot on your system drive lol. (external hdd bitcoin wallet ftw!)

I used to mine at 50BTC, deepbit, and slush's pool. Then, in February, I switched to BitMinter. As a long time supporter of Bitcoin I can tell you that I've seen quite a few fallen Bitcoin pools and sites. This one probably won't be one of 'em.

50BTC is a great pool! And I'm sure they'll correct this, and payout the majority of lost funds to people. If they do, I can guarantee you the majority of people will switch over to using their services.

While I am not defending 50btc, a good amount of the users here are probably ones with the affected balances. When I logged in a few weeks back, it showed me having over 140btc. Thats not possible because I did not mine anywhere close to that or have the hardware too. even right now it says Im owed 1.25btc.

Do the math here and see how long these claims would take. and what type of hardware you would need.

I had about 0.024 BTC there :(

The sum was substracted from my balance but nothing has arrived, nor has a mail and a support ticket been answered.

I doubt the validity of most of them numbers being thrown out here.  I'm sure there are a few who lost coins in the double or tripple digits, but I doubt it's newly registered November and December 2013 bitcointalk users.

Most of the heavy hashers are older members, then again they would also know not to use the pool as a piggybank.

I think people are posting the corrupted database numbers.  By that record I am owed about 180+ coins, but in reality I think I had less than 0.1 on there as it was my failover pool.

Hey
I just registered to post also my numbers of 50BTC.com

I installed the miner last year and after some time just forgot about it.
2 weeks ago, cleaning up my documents, i found the registration datas and checked my account.

Due to the Shares there should be arround 85BTC.

In the dashboard is written that 30 allready payed out...but I can't see this transaction in
the payout area...normal?
Rest of 55 I ordered payout last weekend, still pending status.

And yes...i'm really pissed that I didn't check or found my lockin datas before.

P.S. If my math and my own payouts from the pool are correct. from Decmeber to july, the most you could get from a 24hr period per 400mhs gpu was 0.012 and that became less than 0.01 around march. Thats bassed on a single worker and payout records for that work during that time.

Edit: So at 0.012btc a day per gpu, and no difficulty change, you need to be running 34+ gpus non stop until the pool closed from december for 85btc.

Shure, possible that my numbers are wrong.
I'll be back home mid next week.
So should I post Screenshots from dashboard and payout Tab?

As I wrote i didn't Log in for several month, so I'm not shure
what's real value is.

Love to see some pics of that. Sounds impressive. How did you overcome the power issues of getting it from the street to the site? Thats a huge amount of amperage being pulled down through your box.

is quite simple.
i have a warehouse outside the city.
4 cables with a diameter of 20mm for phase.
4 automatic fuse(45A each) on each cable.
the big problem was the heat and the dust!!!
now i'm still having the 7970 and 7950...the gpu mining is dead...
the btc left in 50btc was my last ones...big mistake it seems

Not very up to date on things, are you...
Last week my 9 7970s mined as many BTC (indirectly) as someone running a 250 GH/s ASIC.

What's even better, the difficulty of altcoins is not going up nearly as much as BTC, while the conversion rates are pretty stable. So GPUs have been creeping back up to asics, though the power issues are obviously real (imho offset by the dual use and therefore safety of GPUs)

I have trouble believing anyone would blissfully leave 75 BTC on a site like that, never mind 750.

It's like leaving a duffel bag with a million bucks lying on the back seat of your car while you park it in a dark alley. People just don't do that, so 99% of the stories are BS and the other 1% is extraordinarily stupid.

Maybe if you are a new person to BTC, I have had at points in the past, had pools holding over 25000BTC for me, granted prices were under $0.10 at that time, I got lazy and didn't have auto payments sent, I was using 50BTC as my wallet, I had been using them for sometime and was stupid to trust them, I was also figured holding me BTC in the website, and using that to purchase my next round of miners from 50btc's store was going to be a good call, currently I have have enough rack space to mount approx 4-6 units units, depending on if I relocate some of the switches and other stuff that needs to go away.

Again I was stupid, I just lost almost 1mil at current values, at the time that, a coin was worth what Approx 125USD? Again this would of been almost 100k, but in my defense most of that was going back to 50BTC to buy more ASIC.

Again at the time I was LOOKING at putting 60-90k into CoinCraft Rigs....

TL/DR: I am stupid

I can log in, but any attempts to withdraw a balance meets with "Some Error has occured"

Like others, I used 50btc.com as an 'overflow' since they opened.. and I've been mining 24/7 for a long time... when btcguild, eligis, etc, had issues, i'd fail over.. trickling all the way down to deepbit. I hadn't even thought about it..but I logged into 50btc and it shows:

Quote
Total reward    68.xxxxxxx BTC

Checked deepbit, and I had 4.5 btc sitting there unclaimed.. removed it.. happy day..

Point being, I think the 68 btc # is accurate for me, and when BTC was $5, I didn't care, so I didn't check. Now I care..

Yeah , sometimes people trust the wrong guys with their money.
A quick visits to the lists of biggest scams thefts "hacks" would show most people how trust turns into dust when money are involved.
But I wouldn't say 99% , more like 50/50

Look here is my situation probably like most of us that lost out. I got my first 7970 around May 2012 and paid out the ass for it at the time. I mined around the end of May beginning of June 2012 on 50btc which was my very first pool. Bitcoins were like 9-10 dollars at the time so when I started mining, I though this wasn't going to be very profitable. So I quit mining and left my btc on the pool. Pretty much forgot it there. Until ASIC were released and bitcoins started to go up in price did I revisit mining again. Simpley forgot about the coins on the pool until I started mining again.

Roughly around 15BTC lost here. Mined with an Avalon at 80Ghs during the couple of months before they got hacked.
I kept mining with them for a couple weeks after the payouts were seized, hoping they will come good but they didn't.

My account showed 260BTC, however i know this is a false amount..

Guys dont come here and say.. I remembered i to log in after 6 months and i found 87BTC which wasnt paid out..
This is Bullshit, their stats are wrong, and you more than likely didn't have the BTC the the Database showed.

No he didn't have 31BTC sitting in his account.  Remember the pool stats were really screwy before they closed the old site.  It said I had a 300+ BTC payment pending but I never mined that much in my entire history on the site and I had a GPU farm and some ASICs.  He probably had 1 or 2 BTC on there.

It is possible for a new user with 10 posts to have a pantload of ASICs, but the reality is most of the power players would be the ones who already ran GPU farms as they would have the infrastructure to run Avalon and Jupiter farms.

Auto payouts didn't necessarily matter, because payouts stopped before the funny business happened in earnest.

7.6784 in my balance at the time of the 'hack'.
8.0000 in "pending" payout.  Never happened.
So I guess that's 15.6784. Whee.  great.

Account balance went to something like 8000~ ridiculous after the "hack".
Both my balance and the pending payout got cleared.

My account was almost to the minimum payout amount when the site was hacked so that means I lost almost 0.1 BTC.

Or was the minimum payout 0.01 ?   I don't remember.

As they stated here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=48525

i Only own 47,56 BTC (without calculated Payouts).

So it must be about 40-45 BTC what they scammed from me. Please correct it in first post.

Same with me, that's crazy, all have same issues with that strange and very popular pool

Just deleted my previous post. Sure I was shocked when lost balance as all other people who had same issue.

I can tell now - 50btc - IS NOT SCAM.
Yes, I got an issue with lost amount there and this is still resolving.

AND: YES. This is resolving now day by day.
I already received balance correction from them and some part already corrected, other continued time from time.
So I hope soon all previous amount will be repaired soon.

50btc are trusty guys and they really had an issue with hacked database.
Now they repairing base and I hope soon all people who REALLY had earned money will receive it.

Happy mining to all and as for me I will be happy to work again with 50btc pool soon.

I'll believe it when I see it.  I'd rather not mention how much exactly I've lost to 50btc, but let's just say that it's more than several btc, and yes.. I was doing daily withdrawals until the last few days when every withdrawal was refused/pending. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for a couple of days before moving all my rigs off the pool.

Still nothing in my account. I had 91 BTC... 91 FUCKING BITCOINS!!! My stats should prove this, shortly after the hack, my balance changed a few times. I tried withdrawing the 91btc, bringing my balance to 0. Then my account showed 5BTC, then nothing. I would really like to see some that again. It's a shit ton of money I could really do with in the months to come. Fuck 50BTC, they scammed the shit out of me by the looks of it, I'm so stupid for trusting them with my BTC.
I had mined a total of 176BTC with my 2 avalons, only ever withdrew what I needed at the time. Their old database info will be able to prove this. I really should've taken some screenshots.

Yeah! that what I telling about too. They sent me some little part from found of my transactions. Total about 10% or a little less.

BUT .. lol 10 % or less payed and keeping quiet again?
No answer in skype they gave and no answer to email.

Sure still hope we all who REALLY lost money, not like people to whom their "admin scammer or I don't know who" just added millions to balance.

I wish they will restore all amount truly and correctly.

So, maybe we should to help them somehow?
As for me I proposed - once I will receive my correct amount I will be happy to support their resource some time with 10-20-30 % donation, because of that hacks happens.
Why not? If guys working for us now to return hucked money - they are good guys.
Or I miss something?

Actually I waiting for positive results for now.

I dont have time to quote the post they did in the past i thought they said the TABLES WERE CORRUPTED AND LOST AND NO HISTORY WAS AVAILABLE SO FUNDS WERE LOST?

Now they are saying otherwise?

Here is the e-mail they sent me today:

Dear user,

According to the analysis of your raw data from your miners, it looks like you are one of the blackmailing group. If it is not true, please contact us in skype: vip_support_50btc

Best regards,
50BTC support team.

This is after i asked them to please recover the mining accounts that were lost when they lost alllll of their data, and so on. And share with me the information no HOW they came to these numbers.

I am done here I have contacted the Russian Authority, and given them all information about the owner of the pool.

I am sure бpaтвa will want their cut of the funds the group has stolen.

I am going to be filing a law suit against the owners of 50BTC in the States, I am sure I will earn a default judgment as you will not have the courage to appear in court, and while its not enforceable in Russia, any assets that are in America, I can and will seize.  Your handling of this situation is Criminally negligent at best. I will be assisting other users in other counties is filing liens against 50BTC.com and its owners and I am sure your pool now facing litigation that could put your miners in Jeopardy of having their coin seized to repay your debts that you refuse to honor, its going to be a final nail in your coffin.

I've been working with 50btc for a few weeks. I got payouts around 1 btc around 6-8 days. When i made the payout it says finished on the payout list. when i clicked on the transaction link to blockhain it said transaction not found, but after a few hours  it always got corrected and i received the btc in my wallet. But not for the last one though. 1 btc payment made on 12 feb. it shows finished like the ones before, when i clicked the link , blockhain says transaction not found. 2 blocks have been found after the payout dated 13 feb but suspiciously after that list shows no new block found on their site. Though i sent the message to their support , auto mail sent stating they got the my request but i doubt i'll see any solution for it anytime soon if there will be any solution at all. if in the future I somehow get the lost payout to my wallet, i will write about it here in this thread. in the mean i switched over to other pools.

on 17 feb 50btc refunded me for the lost amount. So there is no problem on that end. afterwards i got mail from them stating :

" As you maybe already heard, on 11 of February a massive ddos attack
was made to Bitcoin network
(http://www.coindesk.com/massive-concerted-attack-launched-bitcoin-exchanges/).
As a result of that, some of transaction were made incorrectly. "

So at least on my account, there is nothing indicating that they're scammers.

How much where you refunded?

After nearly 6 months, having lost my patience with 50BTC, I've decided to break my silence regarding my situation.

NO ONE SHOULD BE MINING ON THIS POOL

I started mining on this pool back around the end of August 2012 and for the most part was satisfied with the pool. On October 17th i was able to perform my last payout from the pool before 50BTC blocked miners from making any payouts. Keep in mind that I would often do twice a day payouts to minimize the amount I left in the pool. When payouts were blocked, after a few days I started moving my farm over to another pool. I completely moved my entire farm off 50BTC after 7 days. According to my estimates, and multiple emails and skype conversations I have had with 50BTC, I had in the vicinity of 15BTC in my account with them.  Balance was probably more, but I am satisfied with the 15BTC estimate, as that correlates well with another account on another pool I had at that time period. My farm, fortunately, was split between two mining pools. After a rather lengthy conversation with them on skype on February 17th, they sent me a payment of ~.2 BTC. Since then I have heard nothing from 50BTC.

I believe I have been as patient as possible, having hoped that this pool would come thru, but that doesn't look like it will happen.

Once a thief, always a thief. Honestly, I don't understand why anyone mines on this pool anymore.  History has shown us that mining pools that go bad eventually die.  The death for this pool cannot come soon enough. It was nice knowing you 50BTC, but I wish you a painful miserable death for the way you handled the situation.

VOTE WITH YOUR HASHES! TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW NOT TO MINE ON THIS POOL.

They never came back online here or in Skype and never replied to E-Mails, Facebook or twitter. So it's now clearly they stole our money and disappeared.
