Which one?

Title: Re: [ANN][EXN] Exilecoin | A coin with purpose
Post by: Bossland on December 13, 2013, 10:59:13 AM
Since we where forced to release it before setting up the shop, the purpose will come this weekend.

You will be able to purchase these products with EXN then: http://crypto.thebuddyforum.com, and the community that needs that products, is over 100k ppl big.

The need for EXN is  there from day one. However it would have been there, if there was not some mining that i saw and was forced to release the coin today.

Premine should be zero, however it seems someone found the source on Github and started CPU mining since this morning, so already around 100 blocks are mined at this point.

I'm a total noob but this crap already bores me.

Here's a test I propose for new coin developers: Write three paragraphs, in english, as to why your new coin is something that should concern me more than taking a good shit in the morning.

There was no premine at all, the coin was however on github while we prepared its launch.

And this moning i saw a 0.5 KHs miner from US mining through the blocks with light speed, so i decided to launch Exilecoin before we had everything setup.

Another reason that there is no premining, is that the first 300 blocks give only 1 EXN as reward.

This might be the next altcoin, but you will be able to buy things with it from this weekend on or exchange it to people that need to buy these items.

I did post that on cryptocoinstalk, but since here are some sceptical people, i am doing just a copy paste

Some extra details about the coin and its purpose.

This coin was mainly created for our community at thebuddyforum, people that love to use automatization software for mmorpgs, and with that coin they can buy their software and do not longer rely only on EUR, BTC and LTC payments.

Since BTC and LTC are not easy to mine, and not everyone in the world has plenty of EUR, this project is here to allow our community to grow and to give them other ways to purchase our original software.

The company behind thebuddyforum is based in Germany, Bossland GmbH. Tho Exilecoin is totally OpenSource and is not controlled by any company.

Long time perspective of EXN is to not only be used as a exchange currency to purchase bots, especially our bots with, but also be used for other payment pages.

As we have already a BTC and LTC automated delivery for software purchased from thebuddyforum, we will add this feature for EXN too, which means the coin will be actually of use from this week on.

We have set a 1 EXN per block reward for the first 300 blocks, currently we are at block 196, so there is plenty of time to join here and have the same chances.

Our next steps are,

2nd pool
EXN shop for Buddyproducts
EXN to be added into Exchanges

This is a long term project.

Great idea! Gamers can earn coins while they're sleeping, then buy game products without having to purchase BTC. Lots of luck with this coin, still under 300 blocks, so fair launch all the way.

Have any nodes? My client locks up when trying to sync... Got it, thank you

I scanned it with Kaspersky and it came back clean but just to be safe I am running the client in a VM anyways.

No, it is back up. My big concern is that the pool went down right before the blocks stopped being one coin each, and was down for several hours. The pool has mined roughly 153 of the 437 blocks. On top of that there has been very little activity from the coins backer, I would be wary of investing too much time in this.

You don't have to be an expert to see the myriad of the problems. If you were launching a coin, wouldn't you want a presence on the forums that you announced it on, especially with the troubles the "official pool" was having. Nice troll post though.

Myriad? Seriously? Jesus, get some perspective. I agree it was suspicious timing with the pool going down, but if the coin had been instamine-raped there would be 5000 blocks (or more) gone, not 458. That says the algo diff adjustment works to keep it stable, even if eventually a big multipool jumps on.

Is that better? You new guys just scream "scam" at every little thing, relax and mine something else already. You can make 0.08 BTC/MH on APC right now, much better than speculating on this.

On top of that there has been very little activity from the coins backer, I would be wary of investing too much time in this.

It is quite hard to get things working as anyone imagines.

For example, i wished i had some more time to prepare the pool, the coin website, the coin shop, the manual how to mine and then announce Exilecoin to the important places at once.

However, as i mentioned before, someone seems to have downloaded the client from github ( simple search for coin will shopw you all new submited coins ), and started hardcore mining with 0.5 KHs ! over the evening.

By the time i woke up, there where already around 100 coins mined, and while until coin 300 the reward is 1 EXN istead of 77, and there was nothing for the above done ( the pool, the coin website, the coin shop, the manual  ), i had to rush through that all.

That the pool died shortly before 300, that again does say much about luck. I had no luck at that day.

But i am sure we made a good start. My community was just presented with the oportunity to buy our software for EXN at http://crypto.thebuddyforum.com, for now i set a price of 1 EXN = 5 Cent in the store, which as of now seems to be around LTC profitability.

LTC profitability sounds bad, but then again, i did not expect 110 MHs to be pushed inth EXN and a diff of nearly 8.

GENERAL STATISTICS
Pool Hash Rate   108370.000 KH/s
Pool Efficiency   99.82%
Current Active Workers   153
Current Difficulty   7.80265292
Est. Avg. Time per Round   5 minutes 9 seconds
Est. Shares this Round   31960 (done: 279.28%)
Next Network Block   759    (Current: 758)
Last Block Found   757
Time Since Last Block   14 minutes 23 seconds

On the other side, i have not seen a pool with that efficiency.

Stay tuned, once we get added to any of the exchanges, then we can use the API to adjust the EXN prices to the EUR prices of our products.

And another issue was fixed,

somehow VARIABLE_DIFF = False

it was just fixed and now the pool http://pool.exilecoin.com/  runs at learly 120 MHs  with around 140 Workers

Also got word from BitJohn on my mail from yesterday

"We are considering adding the coin in the near future."

Adjusted the EXN prices on http://crypto.thebuddyforum.com/ (http://crypto.thebuddyforum.com/)

Due to the Mining power, that EXN expiriences, and the increased difficulty,

products that can be bought for 25 EUR now cost 325 EXN.

As i was asked what products that are, that the coin can be exchanged for:

It is bots / automatization software for games like WOW, D3, Neverwinter, Path of Exile, World of Tanks, Star Wars TOR,
product names are Honorbuddy, Demonbuddy, Winterbuddy, Exilebuddy, Tankleader, Buddywing

Now already over 1.000 blocks where generated. There is still not much trading, actucally none. There are also no gifts, since this coin had no premining.

Lets see what the next days will bring, it is somehow interesting that the pool kepps its hashpower around 150 MHs, it is more than i expected.

Good luck mining.

On a side node, cryptsy answered me that we will be added in the future.

OK, so 1 coin is worth 0.077€ or 0.00013BTC. This is based on your evaluation. Will it be any different in the future (if it gets to exchange, I guess you will use that evaluation)?

This coin needs some marketing.

Any plans for the future?

Which one?

to scam

then you have not done your homework, nor have you really looked at what it was created for and will be used for

So why was it created for , and for what will it be used?
Because unless you post that in the first post , the only thing people will think about it is scam , run and hide into exile.

Massively multiplayer online role-playing game market is a huge market Western consumer spending on subscription MMOGs grew to $1.4 billion. World of Warcraft, a popular MMORPG, has more than 8 million subscribers as of 2013. exile coin can and will be used in the virtual World of W-O-W as a virtual currency,  If TRON had a currency it would be Exilecoin, as well as real world applications of exilecoin are limitless, people are paying real Euros for buddy products the buddy forum is already bigger than all the top alt coins combined except LTC.  this is a huge market once people get that part about it, exilecoin will be invaluable and very hard to get. these German @ Bossland guys are smart, this is a huge strategy under the radar with huge potential pay offs in the future. Let's face it 8 million subscribers to W-O-W, tens of thousands of buddy bot users worldwide,  official crypto is exile coin. and for others it is very hard to replicate a similar coin with the same qualities, because there is only one buddy forum.

Why should we use gascoin for paying gas and icecoin buy buying ice , but icecreamcoin for buying icecream.

It has already been proven as a total failure to label a coin for specific products.
Ex. sexcoin , one sexshop accepting sexcoin (and btc) , another 2 accepting btc and not sexcoin, and an escort service accepting btc only.
Why should warcraft gamers deal in exilecoin and not btc ?
It's better for them to start their own crypto , and we'll have diablocoin , wowcoin, etc. ?

Exilecoin will get its first Checkpoint this week,

A checkpoint is basically a check that the client does to ensure the blockchain hasn't been tampered with (e.g: block 5000 has a specific hash)

Cheap coins might remain cheap for a long time , before getting ....worthless.
The coin with a purpose seems a bit dead at the moment.

The Exilecoin-Qt client has a virus?
I say that my Kaspersky detects and disinfects viruses have a file, which leaves unusable

Does this currency is undermining or failure?

Important Update from 9th April 2014

As many of you have woundered the last few weeks, what was going on and and why there was no real mining. Here is the best explination that i can give out as of now.

First of all, thanks to Jimmy06 and many hours of testing and testing, EXN is back on track.

The reasons why this happened are easy and hard at the same time, a multipool seems to have jumped on EXN and increased extremely the difficulty. The old wallets difficulty algorythm did not allow and was not build for this situation.

We have now tested and deployed a new algorythm known as Kimoto Gravity Well. This reselt the difficulty back to a low level when a block has not be found for a certain period.

With that said, download the newest wallet from www.exilecoin.com and give it a try, all nodes and pools we host and let host, are already updated.

The EXN crypto shop was shut down for security reasons during the switch, it will be turned up online tomorrow.

Thanks you for all this patience, next target is now to get listed on some popular exchanges and let the currency take its way.

note,

this is a straight up clone from Cinnamon Coin (a coin I am the developer of) with an increase in max money

I don't care about that ,since Cinnamon Coin was cloned from something else,

I do think however the developer(S) should have changed the ports from being the same as my coin since according to the main post here they are the same.

Since they did not change the hex (magic) numbers and are using the same port (or so it appears) this can in theory cause the two networks to 'talk' to one another.   Since my coin was certainly launched first (mid september of last year) I have no intention of changing the ports of mine.

I also noticed they cloned my github recently to put the kgw into this codebase.......

Keep in mind guys this is designed to be mainly proof of stake and proof of stake blocks (the way it is now) are always going to take priority over proof of work blocks.  I am not a big fan of the kgw either.  The linear retargeting should be sufficient........

I cannot control other peoples coin networks nor do I want to sound like I am looking to start trouble.

I support (almost) all other alt coins or can be at least neutral  (large premines I feel are unfair and doge is something I think needs to be 51%'d out of it's misery)

I just thought I should bring these points up since either no one else has noticed or cares.

I care.

I have spent many hours and other resources working on cinnamon coin (and other projects) It is traded at Coins E and on Coin Warz , so it is a successful coin that is by design resistant to multipool attack not just because of the retarget system however because of how the proof of stake settings are.

Honestly I was considering recoding Cinnamon Coin with level db support and possibly 'tweak' the proof of stake settings in a future release but that may be a few months away.   There are lots of open ports still.  I guess someday there may be so many coins that every port is taken !!

But not yet ...... just some food for thought......  cheers

The P2P port is not the same and yes unfortunately the original Dev changed nearly nothing else but the port.  This is unfortunate.  As for multipool attack proof it clearly wasn't as that what killed the first Algo.  I also attempted to contact you recently regarding the matter and you ignored these messages.  I'd still like to talk to you about some things but im still waiting for a reply to your twitter.  The page you read I think was when I miss clicked create a pull request after cloning the project. This still had the default README file.

Please do PM me a method to talk to you directly I'd much appreciate it :)

You're mining a coin with no updates in it's thread for 1 month?

fyi

This coin was 'cloned' from a coin I launched in 2013 CinnamonCoin

So first I am not the dev of this but I am familiar with the code.

This coin was later changed to use the kgw vs. the original linear retarget for pow.

Sadly , as I know know (but had less experience back then) the coin used as a 'foundation' for Cinnamoncoin's source had some 'flaws' in it mostly related to calculation of stake modifiers and difficulty.

As my c++ & other experience has grown I now realize the flaws in the code aside: Proof of Stake has flaws.

I still have cinnamoncoin nodes up but the network was attacked several times & currently has a negative time stamp preventing proof of work.

My current involvment with the BlakeCoin system + merged mining is my focus now.

Eventually when I have time I will rewrite cinnamoncoin to be proof of work only although I have not decided on an algorithm yet (def. plan to abandon scrypt 1024)

If the developer of this coin wants to correct the error you are seeing or if you do to take it over the stake modification check points in the kernel.cpp file need to be updated and since the codes proof of stake difficulty calculation is flawed it : it needs to be adjusted .. Also i would suggest cutting the clock drift from 2 hours to 15 minutes. It still may not work since I never really looked this over but I know at least those things are necessary to mend it.
