I kinda of hate people like Icebreaker. But i can't ignore it, since that i need to know what he is writing to understand how things are getting worse or what (yes, i'm talking about HF).

Also, and more importantly, not everyone takes the time of ignoring people. I'm talking about newbies, especially.

I think that posts of people that are highly ignored should have a degree of opacity, like this:

They will be completely readable but it will be evident to everyone, newbies included, that those post are kinda useless.

Sounds like a good idea if you ask me.

I'm quite sure that this change will be rejected, but let's see... Trying certainly doesn't hurt.

The ignore button already highlights based off of how much people are ignored, no reason to have something else.

You should make this a poll. It would let people who don't want to reply voice their opinion.

If you argue with people on your ignore list or read their posts and still find them infuriating that's your own damn fault ;P

I agree with the idea.  That would save me a whole heap of time.

I don't understand why the fact that you ignore someone should affect the way i see him.

This. Completely this. Selecting who to read, who to trust, and who's opinion to consider relevant should all be personal decisions. The existence of DefaultTrust is bad enough already. Do we really DefaultIgnore or DefaultReadingList.

I like the feature that you can see which people are ignored a lot.
This is comparable with user ratings on sites such as reddit, and prevents responding to known trolls.

Well, some ignored users are troll. Other ignored users point out things that seems to be scams and explain why. The ignore button makes a useful indicator that something is going on with that user, but you still have to make your own judgment on why they were ignored.

Add to the fact that some people on here just love to state publicly about all the people they put on their ignore list. A good majority of the time they get put on the ignore list for merely having a different opinion.

There are maybe 5 users in this forum with the level of ignores that Icebreaker has. I think that this feature should apply only to such users. It could be applied manually, if needed.

Totally agree with you,some of those yellow-colored ignore buttons need that. And if the person doesn't want to read. The reader can skip it easily. Though ignore button is doing a good job.

After all i don't think that anyone wants the forum to become like the circlejerk that /r/bitcoin is lately.

I think in some extreme cases users who have like 100s of ignores should probably literally be ignored by the forum. If somebody is here to just blatantly troll and cause annoyance then they should be essentially 'banned', and this would be a great automatic way to do it. Would be quite amusing if a troll was just posting away to himself and nobody could see his comments.

I would love another feature.
If I have X on Ignore , and Y quotes his post , the post would automatically be also hidden , even if I don't have Y on ignore too.

It's not enough for the OP to use his own Ignore button.  He needs to be validated by forcing everyone else to emulate his behavior because he's an insecure, immature child whose mother trained him to whinge incessantly.

Not only you are not ignoring people that annoy you but you feed them as well  ::)

I can either ignore them or reply to every single of their stupid posts to make them appear for what they are to the eyes of a newbie. That is why i would love this function.

Yes, by all means let's replace the 'Ignore' button with an 'Aggrandize cedivad' button!   ;D

Highlighting possible scams has a value for newbies but a crusade against stupid posts in the name of newbies is something that i haven't heard before  :-X

I would like to have more than a binary ignore option.
Instead of just hiding posts I would like the option for example to give certain users posts a different background color and a compressed presentation with less spaces and smaller fonts.

Begging other people to hit ignore too is kinda ineffective. But I appreciate the comment about Reddit being a circle jerk greatly. I'd rather have more noise than turn out like reddit. :(
