Title: mycelium bcash module
Post by: European Central Bank on May 11, 2018, 05:52:38 PM
has anyone used this yet? it arrived in today's update.

the only use i'd have for it is spending bcash with bitpay so hopefully they're fully integrated with their payment protocol.

i find it pretty weird they can be bothered to create something like this but still no segwit. i have no idea what goes on in their heads.

They said that this new "module" thing was necessary for BCH/Segwit/LN and that BCH support was the most requested feature, so they prioritized that.

Still, I don't recommend Mycelium for anyone. Don't forget that they made a ICO with a proposal of building a new wallet 2 years ago and they literally did nothing with the money they collected. "Expect A Massive Upgrade (https://vimeo.com/163878728)" ::)

i didn't know that. maybe that is a glimmer of hope for more bitcoin stuff then.

despite what goes in the background it's still a wallet i like a lot and would hope that they carry on making it better. i've never had one issue with it. i've had plenty with copay not working on me.

the ICO thing does leave a very bad taste but anyone putting money into a proposal that vague and unappetizing should have thought twice.

I don't know what's there up to, there is already a BCH mycelium app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mycelium.module.spvbch) in play store as and don't know why they merge it to the main app. And if ever I have BCH I still prefer to use it in some exchanges or some existing wallet than on their app tho I used mycelium for bitcoin transactions.

Yeah, still no Segwit, what a useless update.

They didn't?

If you are asking why they didn't merge it, it's because (like the name says) that's a (optional) module. If you care about BCH and wants to hold it in your wallet, download the module. Otherwise, don't and the Mycelium app won't be *more* bloated with things you don't want.

That's not true... they spent it on a holiday in Spain development team meeting (https://news.bitcoin.com/mycelium-employee-quits-after-ico-funds-was-used-for-spanish-vacation/). :P ::)

Nevermind, the ridiculous "In App" advertising... the dodgy Russian ICO shilling... or the 10-15% markup on Credit Card purchases of BTC via the In App link... Honestly, Mycelium have made some extraordinarily poor decisions in the last year or two... Which is a real shame, as it *was* a really good wallet and pretty much the best Android Wallet :-\
