Here's what I'm looking at so far(prices are from msy & arc) AMD ATHLON II X2 255 $61 MSI 890FXA-GD70 $147 Kingston 2GB DDR3 1333 $17 WD 500g sata $39 4 x Powercolor Radeon 6950 1GB $223 Antec Quattro 1200w PSU $272 No case required $1428 Australian dolalrs per rig Approx hash rate: 1100 MH/s Which works out to be 0.6 Bitcoins per day or $6.74 per day Title: Re: Does this hardware list look ok? As PSU I would recommend you the Corsair AX1200, price is probably lower than that of the Antec. For the GPU's, try to get 5850's or 5870's if the price is lower than the one of your 6950. I'm just curious about why? Is it because you want to use it for other things, i.e. gaming, file storage, etc? I'm considering building a small, mining-only rig, linux based, with a 16 GB or 32 GB SSD and no other storage. Maybe 2 or 3 GPUs. Just curious. Thx. Title: Re: Does this hardware list look ok? For miners get low end CPUs with stock coolers, cheap disks, and any more than 1 gig of ram is a waste. PSUs and GPUs are the right places to spend money. Title: Re: Does this hardware list look ok? Way less issues than 5xxx series. just an opinion. thats what I use after buying a 5xxx for my first card immediately switched to the 6xxx series and am not lookin back.

Even tho I only have a little 250GB hdd in my miner, it comes in handy to store my Star Trek episodes ;D Title: Re: Does this hardware list look ok? Post by: Dargo on August 22, 2011, 05:31:44 AM Personally I would skip the HDD entirely and just run linux from USB. And stick with the 5850s - one person having an issue with one 58xx card is no reason to think they have issues in general. 5850s are great for mining - very many on this board are running them with no problems.
