Title: Suggestions on cooling 3x6990's in one case, intake or exhaust?
Post by: mackminer on August 23, 2011, 08:55:12 PM
Hi,
I've a professional type setup at home with four rigs, each running 3x6990's. I don't want to go the open rig route.

My query is regarding a solution to the problem of airflow. The side of the case needs a big fan that is capable of high pressure with good CFM blowing directly onto the cards.

The other alternative and I know this is what's normally done is exhaust extraction - I could do this but would it not cause problems with the graphics card fan?

With the first solution I'm not sure what to think about mixed air issues or is this ok?

Thanks a mill.

Push as absolute many CFMs of air as possible into the GPU fans... Thy are perfectly capible of exhausting the air on their own... if you don't have to deal with noise I would even invest in a few 200+ CFM fans... A 260CFM delta (the highest I'm about) should be 120mm and around $30... I would get one for each case and have them blow directly into the back of th GPUs so their fans can get the cool air... This is all if they are rear fan cards... If thy are not, invest in alternative cooling as you will just trun that case into an oven... I can barely take the heat of 3 5870s in a HAF X with full fans (over 500 CFM in and 350 out)... 6 GPUs is no joke when it comes to heat
