Title: Newbie Help Please - unconfirmed blocks
Post by: jespa80 on December 30, 2013, 09:19:34 PM
I've been mining for a couple weeks now at ~67 GH/s and  everything has gone smoothly until now.  Yesterday, starting with block # 21305, my account has not been confirming the blocks.  The statistics page is showing confirmed blocks, but I am not getting the confirmation on my account page.  My unconfirmed blocks are increasing.  Blocks 21305 - 21316 are still not confirmed for me and not allowing me a payout.  Is anyone else having this problem or know why this would happen.  I opened a ticket yesterday when this started to happen and its been 24 hours and I have received no response and the problem is continuing to build (trapped BTC in my unconfirmed status)

Thanks in advance,
Steve (Jespa)

I'm guessing this is on a pool as you mentioned you filed a support ticket?

Which pool?

Check Slushs form, several tickets have been sent to his pool about this problem.

Yes, it is Slush's pool.  I have opened a ticked and am waiting for a response.  Anyone know why this would happen or seen it before?

I'm having the same problem.
I filed a ticket as well and am just hanging tight. As long as the unconfirmed keeps climbing
I'm not too worried. I figure I'm giving it another day before I start getting nervous.

This is what I found - For Slush's Pool :

For security reasons, the server's hot wallet (keeping funds immediately available for payouts) has quite a low balance. When the hot wallet becomes empty, the pool administrator has to load the wallet from the cold storage (a highly secured offline computer keeping pool's bitcoins). Since this process cannot be automated and only very limited number of people has an access to cold wallet, it can introduce a few hours' delay in sending coins to user's wall

_ still  strange that the confirmed earnings are not showing up in ´account´[/quote]

Because if they showed up in 'account' that would trigger automated payouts, but the 'wallet is empty'..... so junior-operator-on-duty 'closed the tap' to avert disaster.... (but is that good enough? surly someone could have estimated the needed BTC for pool cash flow before they went incommunicado)
