Title: Is it wise to use MtGox nowadays?
Post by: Butters on January 03, 2014, 01:13:37 AM
Thinking of funding my gox account with 6.x btc (~5.5k usd). Do you think it is wise to use this service nowadays?. My other option is to stay on Btc-e

None of them gave my any problem in the past, but none of them gives me confidence. But ive been out of the loop some time and want to know.

The change would be because i want to try out some trading bots

To use Gox or not depends on if you are in the US or not?

I am not in the Us, but in case of need to cash out, i would do it with bitcoins.

I like to warn you.
I thought the same, that gox is no problem to cash out in Bitcoins.
But then they started to delay the Bitcoin payout also.
Think about how you will feel when the price swings and your funds are up to 5 days "in the air" (locked and not send).

I dont know if this is fixed or not. I was so mad about this that i promised not to use them again.
(all the time they ignored my support ticket requests!)

Judge yourself.

Thanks for your imput, yeah that's what i have been hearing on and off about Gox... was hoping that with the advent of new trading sites, the situation there would have normalized. I am gonna meditate on this a couple more days.

I would also advise you to be careful, or at least expect delays with withdrawals.

Bitstamp (https://www.bitstamp.net) is a safe alternative, especially if you are in the SEPA zone.
