Title: What is the relationship between Altcoins and bitcoin ?
Post by: altcoinanalyst1 on May 19, 2018, 09:05:17 AM
The main currency in cryptocurrency markets is Bitcoin. Alts tend to fund Bitcoin runs and Bitcoin tends to fund alt runs. Given this relationship, Bitcoin price movements effect altcoin prices. But the result is unpredictable. Certainly there are some common relations between them. So what are the common trends that occur to altcoins when bitcoin price changes ?

Btcoin is the best crypto system of all time but there is coin named Altcoin this is related with btc because the price effect of both of them. Its like share market and if the price of BTC increase some alt coin increases and some decreases so both of them are vice versa.

Since 2011 Twenty Six Cryptocurrency Exchanges Bit the Dust – Altcoin Exchange Believes Atomic Swaps Will Prevent These LossesThe team at Altcoin Exchange says they still has some work to do with the code as far as privacy and order matching comes. The group says they are also thankful for the decred development team and Litecoin’s Charlie Lee for help pioneering the atomic swap effort.

“Since June of 2011, 26 exchanges have been compromised, resulting in the loss of millions of dollars worth of coins. To prevent more of these types of hacks, decentralized exchanges are needed, and atomic swaps bring us one step closer to achieving this goal,” Gazdecki explains to news.Bitcoin.com

they have a very large connection, because the price of all crypto-currencies depends on the price of bitcoin,it sets the bar for them with its own

main relationship between Altcoins and bitcoin is the price, as we all know bitcoin is the king so it play a huge role, but Altcoins is also connected it to boost up or down. if bitcoins gose up it takes up  Altcoins with it too, on the other hand if people invest in  Altcoins they boost the king also.

There are both good bitcoin nor altcoin is to regulation each other. When the price goes up, the price bitcoin altcoin going down. So people will sell bitcoin and buy altcoin. Conversely, when prices go down, bitcoin bitcoin then altcoin prices going up. So people will be selling altcoin and buy a bitcoin. that's roughly the relationship between the two. Complement each other.

When the price of bitcoin falls sharply, most altcoin falls.
Because bitcoin gives people confidence that if bitcoin falls, most people in the market will lose confidence.

The main relationship of Bitcoin and altcoin is Blockchain technology because all the investors are buying Bitcoin then only they are all exchange to some other altcoins so Bitcoin fund is depends on Altcoins and Altcoins fund is depends on Bitcoin. But most of the altcoins are follow the Bitcoin way so Bitcoin is lead the altcoins growth.

Depends on the overall volatility within BTC, if BTC goes steady alts usually outperform Bitcoin, but if Bitcoin goes on a rampage crushing the price everytime then alts start slumping as people want to ride the Bitcoin wave.
Right now, if you're looking for more volatility alts would be the place to be as opposed to BTC.

If BTC tanks however alts usually go down with it and depending on how hard BTC tanks alts can tank a lot harder. I think the relation should be viewed in terms of volatility for now.

Generally, the price of bitcoin goes down very fast and goes up even faster. Whereas altcoin takes time to react to the situation and fluctuate slowly. But, bitcoin has much more experience than altcoin and it is more advancd than altcoins. So, investing on bitcoin would be a good decision I must say. :o

I think that bitcoin and altcoin are closely linked and mutually supportive in the crypto market. Both are contributing, promoting and contributing to the overall development of the blockchain industry. That is seen as a mutual conversion in terms of resonance and reaction from the volatility of the market. Thus, the market value is added and shared among the coins in a more balanced way.

When bitcoin is dropping slightly altcoins move up but a major bitcoin dump means a drop also on altcoins. This is normal because bitcoin sometimes is generally referred to as crypto itself.

Between bitcoin and altcoin are interrelated. Bitcoin is still the dominant digital currency so far and there is hardly anything so that we can believe there will be a change in the future and altcoin is set. It is designed to support and complement Bitcoin's missing features. They have a close relationship with each other as we know it

In my opinion, bitcoin and altcoin have correlations and mutual support to maintain equilibrium in the crypto ecosystem. In most cases, when Bitcoin prices rise, prices will fluctuate with regard to Altcoin and this can lead to a decline in the value of many Altcoin. Or vice versa. But altcoin and bitcoin are all about diversity, richness, maintaining and extending the user base in crypto.

Title: Re: What is the relationship between Altcoins and bitcoin ?

The relationship with the altcoin and bitcoin is that altcoin is the alternative coin other than bitcoin in cryptocurrency which bitcoin is the first decentralized crytocurrency and the most popular coin. When bitcoin was popular, many altcoins where made like ETH, DASH, RIPPLE, LITECOIN, etc. I think there are no common denominator between the two because there are not proportional nor inversely related to each other. When bitcoin increase does not mean other altcoin also increase or decrease or vise versa. They depend on the investments of people in the coin they choose.

There is a close relationship between the altcoin and bitcoin. Bitcoin being the king crypto has a huge influence in the market for which when the price of bitcoin fluctuates same is seen in other altcoins too. When the price of bitcoin decreases the price of other alcoins also found to decrease. Same happens in case of increment too. So we should be more careful about bitcoin to develop the whole crypto market.

Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency in the market and it has bragging rights to the first position. The relationship between bitcoin and altcoins is that when altcoins are listed on exchanges, the first coin that they are paired with is always bitcoin and that is why the price of bitcoin affects the price of all the other coins. Altcoins just help to fill the cracks that bitcoin missed and they also help to solve the supply issue with bitcoin.

They have relationship in terms of prices in the market, bitcoins price is tethere to altcoins and that is the reason why the prices of alts are being affected either it will increase or decrease depending on the state of bitcoin price in the market.

Since the beginning of 2018, the cryptocurrency market has been volatile and the price of coin on the market has fluctuated. Bitcoins and altcoins are closely related.

There is no unambiguous answer to this question. In certain cases, the market creates situations where many crypto currencies simultaneously start moving up or down, depending on the events occurring, whereas in other situations the same crypto-currency pairs show a minimal price correlation or its complete absence. For example, the correlation between LTC and BTC most often looks like direct proportionality, whereas with XRP - reverse proportionality.

the relationship between altcoin and Bitcoin is certainly very close, I think they need each other. when bitcoin prices fall sharply, most of the altcoin falls. but increased ALtcoin values will also affect the capitalaisation of bitcoin. this is a very clear and sharp relationship.

Although no one associates them with any relationship, the altcoin always depends on the BTC, as you see the market fluctuates, the BTC decreases, while the other altcoin decreases as well. So this may indicate that the BTC partially determines the price for the other altcoin.

The relationship between bitcoin and altcoins is determined by the correlation coefficient. A negative correlation indicates that altcoins are falling if bitcoin is growing. Negative correlation arises due to the fact that investors' capital flows from altcoins to bitcoin or vice versa. Positive correlation is manifested when bitcoin and altcoins are simultaneously growing. A positive correlation suggests that there are the same factors between bitcoin and altcoins.

In fact the bitcoin fluctiation was affecting altcoin. But altcoin doesn't give any impact to the price of bitcoin because altcoin has used the bitcoin as the main pegged to determine the real price of altcoin itself.
Bitcoin can give an impact to altcoin but altcoin can't. The only possible thing the altcoin rely on the bitcoin.

I think the link between altcoins and bitcoin is that every transaction goes mainly through BTC as the majority of exchanges mainly support altcoin/btc pairs.

Another thing that I noticed is that people tend to protect their BTC investments and sell altcoins when the market is going down.

I think the relationship is price. Bitcoin's price movement generally affects altcoin prices. The relationship is not always predcitable , but there are some common trends. When Bitcoin goes down quickly for example after a highly anticipated fork, it will likely depress alts as money flows into fiat or cause alts to boom especially in terms of BTC pairs, where you trade BTC for alts as money flows into alts. When Bitcoin stagnates, it will likely cause alts to stagnate.

However, this does not mean the bitcoin will continue to be the highest but indeed to this day is still a few altcoins that can move beyond the bitcoin.

This is because the price of an altcoin is in Bitcoin and not in fiat. So is an altcoin x = 1 btc = $10,000 then 1 btc after an hour becomes $9,000 then an altcoin x = 1 btc = $9,000. Even though the conversion factor of x to btc remains the same, the value changes because of the value change in btc. This is not always the case since every altcoin has their own community that could affect the price independently from bitcoin.

There is no basic difference between bitcoin and altcoins. Both are running on the same technology and developing in the same way. Excepr bitcoin, other cryptocurrencies are called altcoins.
Well said, theres no much difference if we do try out to make difference with bitcoin and altcoin yet they are both cryptocurrencies the thing here is that bitcoin was on the 1st coin being created thats why it would always have the title to be the main cryptocurrency but if we do talk on the tech being used its just still the same.Altcoin were created the same but there are some new feature which bitcoin doesnt have but still dominance in the market would really be there.

I know these two coins need each other and so Bitcoin and altcoin are the main currencies in the cryptocurrency so therefore both of these coins know a lot of people and considering the bitcoin price can also affect the price of Altcoin because alcoin follows the movement of Bitcoin and if the bitcoin goes down and altcoin prices also fell

I think the relationship is a kinda healthy one. For instance,if we are to look at it from the point view of price changes/shift, almost every altcoins get affected either positively or the other way round. Also, I see Bitcoin as the mother of every other coins that came, and is coming after it. Bitcoin has therefore been playing the role of a good mother always looking out for his children.

Bitcoin is currently the top coin that is being traded for other altcoins in terms of market cap, volume, and general popularity. This is what makes bitcoin the central of the world of crypto and why it has gravity behind it, having a constant relationship with altcoins prices. When it comes to the trend, when Bitcoin goes up quickly, it will likely depress altcoins as money flows into Bitcoin. When Bitcoin goes down quickly, it may depress altcoins as money flows into fiat or may cause altcoins to increase its value. When Bitcoin stagnates. it will likely stagnate altcoins as well, or may also cause altcoins to boom as people will continuously look for returns to get a favorable income in trading.

Alts tend to fund Bitcoin runs and Bitcoin tends to fund alt runs.
nobody is funding anybody here.
the only thing that exists here is that people use altcoin pumps to increase their bitcoin holdings.

Quote
Given this relationship, Bitcoin price movements effect altcoin prices. But the result is unpredictable.
the result is more predictable than you think.
whenever bitcoin drops there is going to be a massive dump in the altcoin market without an exception so it is 100% predictable.
and whenever bitcoin is having a huge rally and is rising up fast and big there is also going to be a dump in altcoin market but not as big. so this is also predictable.
and whenever bitcoin is stable altcoins have a much bigger playground to play around in because many traders look upon altcoins for profit until bitcoin stops being stable. again this is 100% predictable also.

Bitcoin and altcoins are interconnected in a big way and anyone who says otherwise is simply fooling themselves. Bitcoin and altcoin values are usually directly proportional to each other ie. If Bitcoin value rises, altcoin value rises and vica versa. Reverse also happens sometimes, but is uncommon. This is why everyone gets excited for a bull run or are left disappointed due to a bear market since Bitcoin and altcoin values are connected.

Well, the most common trend is that when the price of Bitcoin falls, the price of other altcoin also start falling. This is recently been seen in the market right now. We all know it as bear trend.

Of course, this often happens in market conditions. But I think there are other factors that keep prices down, if supply conditions outweigh demand, then prices will skyrocket.

The only link between Bitcoin and altcoins is to share the same blockchain technology. So the exchange rates of BTC and altcoins are related and affect each other if the market is experiencing fluctuations in exchange rates. Usually, when the exchange rate increases, altcoins increase as the demand for investment increases and the exchange rate increases.

Actually the relationship of the alterntivecoins and bitcoin to each other is they are competitors in this business although they are not totally same because the bitcoin is much better to use in this industry.

The most glaring relationship between Bitcoin and Altcoin is the price behaviour.  If Bitcoin is rising in price,  the value or such rise is going to affect Altcoin positively. In a situation where people are dumping Altcoin to buy more Bitcoin,  the value of Altcoin remain stable and some times increase!

Relation between altcoin and bitcoin is this that both are in the market for each other and if bitcoin raise altcoin automatically raise and vise-versa, actually it affect due to the exchange rate and number of transactions more the transaction more the increase and more the raise in altcoin price this is the relation.

BitCoin is the largest volume and most valuable coin on the currency market. bitcoin forms the basis of other coins and directly affects them.

I don't agree with you. This is the situation now but in the past the situation was quite different. At the time when the price of bitcoin decreased capital passed into altcoins and for this reason their price grew. Now the demand for cryptocurrencies has decreased and for this reason prices are falling on all cryptocurrencies. The dollar is leaving the cryptocurrency market.

As per observation, bitcoin and altcoins are correlated with each other and for every price movement whether it is up trend or down trend, it seems that it is directly proportional with the other. Once bitcoin drops, altcoins also follow the dip and vice versa. I had notice and observed this kind of trending with respect to the price movement for almost 5 months in being here with the community forum.

They have a bad realtionsship.

Altcoins are overlyattached to BTC . When Btc changes by 5% altcoins tend to overreact an go crazy and chnage 10-20%. There are some instances when altcoins feel safe after BTC have been stable for some time and then they start to flourish until btc moves again.

When Bitcoin goes up quickly, it will likely suppress or depress altcoins as money flows into Bitcoin, When Bitcoin goes down quickly (for example after a highly anticipated fork), it will likely depress altcoins as money flows into fiat

When Bitcoin stagnates, it will likely cause altcoin to stagnate along with it as people wait for a clear sign on the direction of the market or, cause altcoin to boom as people look for returns in altcoins and try to get favorable trades in terms of BTC pairs

the only relation I think has something to do with the market value of Bitcoin and most of the altcoins. As what we are witnessing at this moment, whatever happens with the market price of Bitcoin, reflects to the market value of many altcoins, proportionally. This is the only thing i know which  relates Bitcoin and most altcoins.

The relationship between altcoins and bitcoin is not so different because it's still through the same technology they run (blockchain). It's just that apart from all other cryptocurrencies are called altcoins apart from bitcoin.

I think the trends and relationships are pretty well established and time tested already. The total majority of altcoins follow Bitcoin both on the way up and on the way down, so it is unlikely that as you say alts tend to fund Bitcoin runs. If it were so, we would see them crash when Bitcoin starts to rise and still more so given that the Bitcoin market cap by far exceeds that of any single altcoin. But it is simply not so. If Bitcoin surges, most altcoins, especially the major ones, follow it closely. And the whole market goes down along with Bitcoin as well.

as I know there is no fundamental difference between the two, both bitcoin and altcoin run on the same technology. this is like the stock market, if the bitcoin price increases then altcoin will also increase as well should be. because as we know, bitcoin is the best crypto system and it does have an effect on price in the market.

It seems like a short lesson in altcoins for dummies is due and overdue. Altcoin is not a name for a coin, unlike bitcoin, which is a name for, well, Bitcoin. There are many altcoins in existence today, and not all of them are built on the same technology as bitcoin. Some of these coins are centralized, for example, Ripple. Others are said to represent the American dollar in the cryptoworld, like Tether. Obviously, the latter is also centralized and both have nothing to do with the blockchain. Apart from these, there are true decentralized cryptcurrencies which are not using the blockchain technology at all. Byteball is one of such coins, maybe there are others.

Now is the right time to see answers of your questions live in the current condition of the market. You can find in almost all top exchanges BTC as main trading pair, when BTC value goes up altcoins too pick rally to go up and when BTC price go down, altcoins price also goes down. When Main trading pair will be down than how can altcoins will go up.

Most of the altcoin's price are pegged to either BTC or ETH. If bitcoin's price goes down, alts go down too. That is to say that their relationship is directly proportional. There are some instances though like last year, bitcoin lost a large part of its share in the overall market due to the "altcoin season".

Btcoin is the best crypto system of all time but there is coin named Altcoin this is related with btc because the price effect of both of them. Its like share market and if the price of BTC increase some alt coin increases and some decreases so both of them are vice versa.
Yes, I agree to his argument. For me, bitcoin is the most popular in the market but there is also a coin called altcoin which is interrelated to bitcoin. The reason why both coins are interrelated is because it affect the price of each other. The bitcoin is directly proportional to the price of altcoin. For example, when the price of bitcoin increases, therefore the price of altcoin will increase also and vice versa.

This is the main trend and it is clear. But you didn't notice another indicator. During the fall in the price of bitcoins altcoins cheaper relative to bitcoin and Vice versa. This pattern is not clear to me. It seems to me that the altcoin market is even more dependent on the manipulation of whales and look for logic in their behavior is very difficult.

In my personal opinion, I think that the relationship between Altcoin and Bitcoin is still up and down.
It is easy to understand that the above is the bit coin, and the one below is the altcoin.
This is a constant truth that still does not change. The beat coin rises to the coin position of the boss, and the price is at the highest price in the market. Therefore, according to the market trend of Bitcoin, the market trend of Altcoin is being determined.
Rather, if the beat coin falls in the market now, Altcoin is going down further and deeper. This is not a very good phenomenon in the crypto market.
However, I think that within the next few years, the bit-coin and altocine relationships can change. If an altcoin such as bit coin emerges, the market flow will be better, and everyone will try to invest.

I suspect that it is not strictly so. You can trade many altcoins such as ETH, LTC, DASH, ZEC, etc directly for fiat, in any direction, therefore you can't say that the price calculations of altcoins necessarily occur through bitcoin, at least not in respect to major altcoins. The price dependence between bitcoin and the rest of the gang is evident but it is definitely not because people price altcoins in BTC. The price of bitcoin is used as a metric to assess the overall market sentiment and that is why prices of altcoins closely follow the price of bitcoin most of the time.
