This is huge in terms of name recognition, right up there with Overstock or WordPress or Baidu.  Even if not much came out of it in terms of transacted amounts, it's a very valuable proof of concept deployment and a very big endorsement from a PR perspective.  2014 might deliver the nonlinear tipping point where competitive dynamics and PR buzz will suddenly force all online businesses to consider Bitcoin support.

You might want to read this over at ars technica:

http://arstechnica.com/business/2014/01/ars-deathwatch-2014-companies-on-the-edge-of-relevance/2/ (scroll down a bit.)

Money quote:

The number of people playing Zynga’s games on a monthly basis has dropped by 57 percent from last year—as older games lost players, newer games failed to make up the difference. That means fewer farmers buying virtual things, and in the first three quarters of 2013, Zynga’s revenue was only 64 percent of what it brought in during the same time period in 2012.

It seems more like a move to jump on the bandwagon of something that is "hot" so they can try to gain relevance again. Good luck. And by "good luck" I really mean "die in a fire". I detest in-game purchase monetization strategies. The whole "Freemium" trend needs to die.

Be that as it may, I do believe that Zynga is the first publicly-traded company to openly accept bitcoin.

Baidu only accepted it briefly for a single DDOS protection service on a separate domain, wordpress & namecheap aren't public, twitter isn't accept bitcoin itself, that integration is 3rd party, and overstock hasn't started accepting BTC yet. Am I missing anyone?

If not, Zynga will forever be an important part of bitcoin history!

Will revenues declining from quarter to quarter for all companies in the next few years, except maybe for lawers specializing in bankruptsies, they will all be looking at ways to boost sales and embrace bitcoin and anything really to get some free advertising and maybe some new customers. Law of the jungle more and more, anything that works will be tried.
