Title: Blockchain Gaming (www.blockchaingaming.com)
Post by: The Bitcoin Co-op on May 21, 2018, 02:14:31 PM

Blockchain-based video games have been a pet project of mine for years, now, ever since I wrote about them for Bitcoin Magazine (https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/cryptocurrencies-in-video-games-preview-roundup-1416609489/) in 2014. I've always loved video games, and I went on to write for NewsBTC about Moonga (https://www.newsbtc.com/2015/04/26/blockchain-gaming-moonga/), Munnecoin (https://www.newsbtc.com/2015/06/17/blockchain-gaming-munne-project/), Spells of Genesis (https://www.newsbtc.com/2015/07/31/blockchain-gaming-sog-preview/), Huntercoin (https://www.newsbtc.com/2016/02/02/blockchain-gaming-huntercoin/), Beyond the Void (https://www.newsbtc.com/2017/02/05/blockchain-gaming-btv/) and other news and analysis (https://www.newsbtc.com/2017/04/17/blockchain-gaming-april-2017/). There are also interviews on BlockTalk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taj9_dMcgOQ), the Crypto Show (https://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/post/the-crypto-show-andrew-wegner-of-huntercoin-and-atty-jamie-balagia-with-justin-arman-on-asset-forfeiture) and Bitcoins and Gravy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIPunQpgnrc), and I've spoken at a few conferences on the subject.

I acquired www.blockchaingaming.com (and related domains) early on, hoping everybody else would love the blockchain gaming concept as much as I did. The industry was still nascent, however, and I lacked resources and was busy with ESL Coin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1950316.msg19376098#msg19376098), so I left it as a placeholder explaining blockchain games and started to slack on the updates when ESL Coin really picked up.

Recently, however, I've partnered with a couple friends, and we have established a growing team to take things to the next level. We aim to make our website the ultimate community resource for blockchain-based video games, and are redesigning it to enable community-generated content in addition to in-house reviews and interviews. We're also going to be heavily involved with events, such as the upcoming Blockchain Game Summit (http://www.blockchaingamesummit.com), and have sections for news, FAQ and guides.

We already have a very active community on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/blockchaingaming/) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/BlockchainGames) and are rapidly expanding our variety of social media and communication channels. We welcome all who wish to join our community, especially those who want to contribute content or join our website's core team. Stay tuned for news!

We're now finishing work on the Events section of our website, where we'll list all the best blockchain gaming events to watch out for. The first one listed is the Blockchain Game Summit (http://blockchaingamesummit.com/), which we've partnered with and will be attending--come check it out in Lyon, France, September 25-26!

Please contact us if you are organizing your own blockchain gaming event and are interested in an official partnership. We'll also be on the lookout on our online forum, so don't forget to post your events there, too  ;)

Every 3 weeks, Friday 7 PM Pacific time, www.blockchaingaming.com is going to host a Meetup in Vancouver going over a blockchain-based video game in detail, with overviews, demos and Q&As. Each event will be livestreamed to YouTube, with remote viewers encouraged to follow along and ask questions in the chatroom as we gradually test out every blockchain game on the market.

Our first Meetup broadcast will be September 14 and cover Spells of Genesis, one of the first blockchain games to be released having ICO'd years ago. A variety of Meetup groups have been invited and you can RSVP on Facebook, as well. Links:

We've switched up our schedule a bit. the Blockchain Gaming News segment and Blockchain Gaming Meetup are both now every 4 weeks, spaced evenly apart with a broadcast every 2 weeks. Our second News segment was recently on September 28, link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS42AxHNaGA. Next one is October 26.

Our next event is coming soon on October 12, and it's a super exciting one: the founder of DappCapps (Pogs on the blockchain) is actually flying to Vancouver from Oregon with a bag full of free ones for everybody!

Participating Meetups:
  • https://www.meetup.com/Vancouver-Ethereum-Meetup/events/254904591/
  • https://www.meetup.com/bitcoinvan/events/254904584/

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/2185870148404202/

Broadcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62gbMy7UIJE

We also had a great time at the Blockchain Game Summit, where our founder gave a presentation on the Past, Present and Future of Blockchain Gaming. Someone told me I might have raised a couple eyebrows when I joked about burning EverdreamSoft's office down (among other things). I was really just trying to make a point about the benefits of True Ownership, though; I think they should be thanking me. I also promise not to steal your car... see the presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElPvmDrFF7I

It's been a while since we've updated... there are now two new episodes of Blockchain Gaming News to share. Check them out!

  • Blockchain Gaming News Episode 3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NAG4FphcYQ)
  • Blockchain Gaming News Episode 4 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTOL3GjUd-Y)

Our CryptoKitties Meetup went well! We managed to keep trolling regarding their Nifty License to a minimum using free beer as an incentive, and dozens of people came out. It was broadcast on YouTube at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LOtmttSb2U

Our next event involves another heavy hitter in the blockchain gaming industry. EnjinCoin has one of the largest development funds and the support of many game developers, and their founder just happens to live in Vancouver! Come join us:

Meetup:
  • https://www.meetup.com/Bitcoin-n-Beers-Vancouver/events/256686594/
  • https://www.meetup.com/dctrlvan/events/256686518/

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/507349693098609/

We're still hard at work on the new version of the website and hope to have the homepage up ASAP. It will include a portal to other subdomains designed to provide different blockchain gaming-related services. We are partnering with other companies for this, and particularly with decentralized applications that people could access through our site, using it as a gateway. One that we're working on, for example, is news.blockchaingaming.com -- please reach out to us if you're interested in a similar partnership. We're also looking for a web developer who wants to join our team.

The Doge Preacher had an emergency at home, so we had to broadcast Blockchain Gaming News Episode 5 without him. Here are the results: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlB54ZUAQGo

Also, we all had a blast at the last Meetup with EnjinCoin's CTO Witek. You can watch the recording of the event online here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmrMFX77CGA

Our next event will feature guests from Hoard Exchange, which facilitates the exchange of gaming assets on the OmiseGo platform. Join us if you're in Vancouver; watch the broadcast if you're not.

Meanwhile, our website has received major home page updates thanks to Isaac Nandgavkar!

  • It now includes general information about blockchain gaming
  • It also includes information about the 6 key use cases for blockchain technology in the video game industry
  • It currently lists all of our Blockchain Gaming News and Meetup broadcasts
  • New pages related to Blockchain Gaming News, Auctions, and a Market page are under development

Our founder also gave some conference presentations promoting the blockchain gaming concept. There was a 2-minute pitch at VanFunding (http://vanfunding.com/); also a longer presentation called Why Video Games Are Going Blockchain at the Engage conference organized by Crypto Vancity (http://cryptovancity.com/).

The team behind www.blockchaingaming.com is proud to present the Blockchain Gaming Expo, a convention dedicated to the intersection of blockchain technology and video games. Its first iteration will occur in partnership with the CoinFest convention.

CoinFest (http://www.coinfest.org) has been in operation since 2013 in over a dozen countries around the world. It is 100% non-profit and volunteer-driven, ensuring maximal efficiency in their goal of spreading cryptocurrency adoption. They do this by having free-to-attend events at cryptocurrency venues, simultaneously around the world over a week-long period.

The first Blockchain Gaming Expo will be held in Vancouver, the birthplace of CoinFest. Special attention will be paid to blockchain gaming at this event, with multiple related companies having already confirmed their participation. Join us on April 6, and spread the word by sharing our Facebook event (https://www.facebook.com/events/2301093000109214/).

There have been more some updates to the website. The forum has been given a new look, and also, we now have an Events page (https://blockchaingaming.com/events/ (https://blockchaingaming.com/events/)). More updates will come after CoinFest.

We've also had several more news broadcasts and Meetups. Check them all out below:

  • Blockchain Gaming News Episode 6 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBJlzktMS3o)
  • Blockchain Gaming News Episode 7 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkfPnj1ji9Y)
  • Blockchain Gaming News Episode 8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulEgVcJZoh4)

  • Blockchain Gaming: Show and Tell (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE5WPW8ZsQw)
  • Blockchain Gaming: HashKings Q&A with Qwoyn (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8vkG04zOhA)

Our next Meetup will not occur until May, as we are skipping April due to CoinFest. It will feature Volition CCG (https://www.volitionccg.com/).

The blockchain gaming industry keeps evolving, and we have lots of new updates to share since the end of CoinFest.

Our show has been getting new viewers slowly but surely. Here are episodes 10 and 11:

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01xNhW1DLRU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01xNhW1DLRU)
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQHB2UsKfME (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQHB2UsKfME)

There have also been quite a few Meetups since we lasted posted on the forum. Patrick Meehan came from Seattle to show off (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOwA1BPAdk4) Volition CCG, and local developer Dave Mancini had a popular event (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8diWqAQ6tk) for GeoCoin. Our next event is coming soon... here are the links:

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/699275607200517/

Also forgot to tell you all that we participated in Seattle Devcon, which was (actually, still is) the featured conference on our website. You can get a feel for what it was like from their website (https://seattleblockchain.io/). Below is a picture taken from the blockchain gaming panel we set up for them:

Maybe this thread should be moved to another section like services (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=197.0) or something. This section is mostly about altcoin releases, and your project doesn't seem to involve releasing an altcoin. Or will it?

We've been adding a new content, lately. This is largely thanks to our partnership with XAYA. Some notable updates: to www.blockchaingaming.com include:

  • Our blog (http://blog.blockchaingaming.com) is now filled out with lots of blockchain gaming articles I wrote. Most of them were defining various terms in the blockchain gaming community.
  • There is now a featured projects section
  • Various projects are listed with their own pages. We started with XAYA and next is Taurion

We will continue adding a variety of content to the website, but content related to clients will be given priority.

Our last Meetup with the Tap Project was well-attended. See the YouTube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4ZdU6H5h7U

The next Meetup will feature the XAYA protocol. RSVP on:
  • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/487330482122676/
  • Meetup: https://www.meetup.com/dctrlvan/events/265519160/

We have some really exciting plans in the works for CoinFest 2020 in April. The two biggest participating cities, Vancouver and Manchester, will both have major blockchain gaming events. As usual, attendance will be free and open to everyone, but sponsors and exhibitors will want to be aware of some additional opportunities.

Generous (CoinFest is non-profit and run by volunteers, and we get have great venue relationships) bulk deals will be offered to those who participate in both UK and Vancouver events. We recognize that some projects don't have enough team members around the world for that, however, so we encourage you to attend either one based upon whichever is geographically closer.

Whichever route you choose, www.blockchaingaming.com will offer you a free bonus PR package. We will custom design/write one featured webpage/article about your project, or accept payment in locked tokens (preventing us from dumping immediately) if you wish to become a client. Our existing free community resources (Meetups, blog, forum for everyone) remain unchanged.

See www.coinfest.org if you're not yet familiar with CoinFest.

Plans continue to emerge for blockchain gaming at CoinFest. CoinFest UK will last 3 days, April 3-5, and have a themed section dedicated to blockchain gaming projects. Blockchain gaming speakers will also be included on the main stage. See www.coinfestuk.org for more info.

The Blockchain Gaming Expo at CoinFest Vancouver will be focused entirely on blockchain gaming and last all day and evening on April 5. You can RSVP on EventChain at https://eventchain.io/event-details/0d14321feedf6c2759010e98f25d3b8f/Blockchain_Gaming_Expo_-_CoinFest

Also, our Tap Project Meetup was a success! We also had Meetups for XAYA, Ethermon & Chain Guardians... see the links below:

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Njjn8KXwYk

The next Meetup will feature blockchain game Dissolution (https://dissolution.online/) from Victoria, BC, and occur at DCTRL on February 20th 7 PM. After that, there will be no Meetups for a few months as we go on hiatus for CoinFest and DogeCon.

We also aired Episode 14 of Blockchain Gaming News. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5DDYRv6Iu4

Details are now public about our CoinFest event in Decentraland. Coronavirus may have postponed our Expo, for now, but we're still gonna meet, get freebies, play games and explore the decentralized virtual world together. Expo sponsors get free speaking/exhibiting opportunities; others can guarantee a slot for themselves with a small donation to the venue host, whose generosity enables us to keep this event free.

Lots of updates! We've had some great events in Decentraland. You can see a promo video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT6QJZcYfzY) of our CoinFest activities, and a full recording (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPHYjboSOhw) of our Decentraland University Workshop. We've scored ample media attention (https://cointelegraph.com/news/crypto-conference-defies-covid-19-lockdown-by-hosting-in-virtual-realm) along the way.

We have added some blockchain games to the Featured Games section: Taurion (https://blockchaingaming.com/games/taurion/), GeoCoin (https://blockchaingaming.com/projects/geo/) and Orbiter 8 (https://blockchaingaming.com/games/orbiter-8/). Check out their pages to learn the exciting things they're doing.

We also created a Discord (https://discord.com/invite/84DPZGW) channel, which some people seemed to prefer to Telegram. Both are active, now.

Also, we're starting a blockchain gaming wiki at wiki.blockchaingaming.com (http://wiki.blockchaingaming.com). Let us know if you wanna help out!

Hey everyone, it has been a while since we posted any updates on blockchaingaming.com

The whole blockchain-based gaming scene is advancing at an insane speed with veteran game devs. and companies joining in. It feels like a good time to update you all on the progress we are making on our end to build this blockchaingaming.com community.

I will be posting updates on the latest development on the website and projects we are undertaking right now.

Update:

  • Currently, we have the following pages which are in continuous development:
    1. BLOG: Articles and news about the blockchain-based gaming industry including some company updates.
    2. WIKI: A publicly accessible wiki page that will host information about any and every blockchain game. (currently, account creation is restricted to "request". If you would like to be a contributor, feel free to reach out)
    3. FORUM: A public forum and a neutral ground to post, discuss and co-develop blockchain projects. The intention is to bring together devs, companies and players under a common space for better communication/feedback and development of the industry.
    4. EVENTS: This page consists of the latest events we support/host along with information about other events in the gaming space.
    5. PROJECTS & GAMES: A page, soon to be largely populated (curated items), for blockchain-based companies/projects and games with all the needed information. We intend to build these pages with all the possible information needed to understand, learn and play the game.

Upcoming:
  • Marketplace for NFTs (page)
  • Game tournaments
  • Game factions/guild (official representing BlockchainGaming.com)
  • Update/upgrade discord server

We are currently also looking for enthusiasts who would like to help us moderate forums and wiki content. Someone with experienced in handling the system would be preferred. The forum is running on the classic SMF (same as this bitcointalk forum) while the wiki is running on mediawiki (same as Wikipedia).

If you have any questions feel free to reach out. The best way would be to do so via discord server.
