Are you reffering to MyEtherWallet? If this is the case, we suggest using metamask to minimize the risk of phishing attacks. In addition to this, investing in a hardware wallet such as the nano-s or trezor would be a good option to minimize risk even further.

I'll just quote the post I made days ago below. If you're interested on other guides concerning securing your investments, check out https://cryptosec.info/

Best of luck.

Cryptocurrency and Wallet Security: DOs and DON'Ts
by cryptosec.info (https://cryptosec.info)

DOs
[1] DO only store your private key(s) on pieces of paper or on a CryptoSteel, and store them somewhere no-one else but you has access to
[2] DO store majority of your funds on a hardware wallet or a correctly-made paper wallet
[3] DO only use a paper wallet if you're 100% confident that you can make one in a secure manner
[4] DO store only small amounts of crypto on your hot wallets(exchanges, software wallets, web wallets, etc)
[5] DO use secure and complex passwords on all your accounts; not only on your exchange accounts
[6] DO use 2 Factor Authentication on most if not all your accounts online. Your accounts having 2FA makes your accounts significantly harder to hack

DON'Ts
[1] DO NOT save your private key(s) and account passwords on a .txt file, a word document, on your mobile phone's notes app, etc
[2] DO NOT store significant amounts of cryptocurrency on your hot wallets, pretty much anywhere that you don't have control over the private key(s) and that could potentially be stolen by hackers
[3] DO NOT give away your private key(s) to crypto airdrops or to anyone else in general. Giving away your private key(s) is pretty much like giving away access to your bank account
[4] DO NOT click on exchange ads on Google or any other search engine (screenshot (https://i.imgur.com/7FMn2tb.png)). There's a good chance that a certain link you see in your search result is a phishing link that could potentially steal your funds
[5] DO NOT re-use passwords on exchanges or any other website

If you are using a web wallet, bookmark the real website so whenever you visit it, just click it and you don't have to use search engine for it.

This applies for all types of web wallet (MEW, Blockchain.info, etc.)

Or better yet, don't use web wallets. Only use either software wallets or hardware wallets if you're planning on securing your long-term investment funds.

First do click any link that is not familiar to you this might be a phishing attempt delete them immediately, second make a copy maybe 6 copies of your private keys in case your phone was stolen or accidentaly broke.

Buy a hardware wallet. This is the best way to keep safe your funds. You can buy a hardware wallet from those wallets official websites. Trezor (https://trezor.io/) and Ledger Nano S (https://www.ledgerwallet.com/products/ledger-nano-s) are best hardware wallets.

Security has become a major issue in the market of crypto currency so one needs to ensure the security first. To secure the wallet, investors need to have a private key which must not be disclosed to the others. Investors can use 2FD verification systems to secure the wallet. The computer must be kept in offline, when you are not dealing in the market or you will keep your account close when you are absent.

One can keep the wallets in a much safe way with the usage of different security features that is available. In specific enabling 2FA is the best to go with the online wallets. Also before creating a wallet it is good to find the reputation of the wallet, as there are several scams in wallet service.

It is worth buying a hardware wallet. you minimize risks and save money to save money. For example, Trezor and Ledger Nano S are the best hardware wallets. Good luck to all of us)

The best way to defend against an attack like that (if your malware scanner doesn't detect the intrusion) is simply watching all transactions carefully, and taking steps to safeguard your assets so you know your data hasn't been exposed.

Ledger nano is great with it's features. You can use them. They are safe and keep your wallets secured. It's really hard to hack ledger nano. But for more safety, i would suggest you to do two factor authentication. It will keep your wallet safe from hackers.

Use two factor Authentication security, Don't trust anyone by giving your passwords. That's the common things you can do.

It is your fault if you fell into the pit of a phishing site, the very best wallet and secure enough is the hardware wallet (ledger or trezor) but, the very best way to make your wallet secure is to be wise not to be fool always.

We can't stop everyone from using web wallets so its up to them.

I find it convenient to use hardware wallets and web wallets but comparing myself to others some are reckless and isn't even aware of security.

Keeping your wallet depends on what wallet you use. Tips on keeping your wallet safe are
-Install anti-virus on your computer.
-Put your private key on internet free device such as USB.
-I strongly recommend to bookmark  the websites you access.
Hope it helps

First of all you should buy a hard disk or even a SSD for storing wallets private keys and even wallets applications . I never recommended trezor&ledger because they are expensive and with that money you can buy a ssd/hard and install the applications

A wallet is nothing but just a private key which is required to spend the funds associated with the public key so the best way to keep it safe is never exposing it on the internet (including web wallets or any other program) unless you want to utilise the funds stored in that wallet. I believe that keeping it offline at a safe physical location is the best way to prevent it from the scammers and hackers out there. That's the reason why I have my 95% funds stored in paper + hardware wallets.

The golden rule is that you should ensure that your private key are kept safe in a secured place known only to you. Also ensure you double check the site you are visiting for possible phishing attempt and never enter your private key on any site. Lastly, if you have enough money, the best bet is to get a paper wallet or hardware wallet. They are safer than others.

Ensure the website you visit which have your coins is not a phished website by bookmarking the site and also make sure your private key is not accessible to anyone. If you can get a hardwallet then that is better than online wallet.
