I like coinbase because 1% fee but had bad experience. Would not let me log back in right after I made a purchase and was fishy.
Bitstamp i heard about ripple and it being a hassle to get through. Also they want bills to get verified etc What sites are good? I also tried Coinex but it has not such a high Market Volume like Cryptsy. So i recommend Cryptsy (https://www.cryptsy.com/users/register?refid=118702) ;D

If you want a place to just buy Bitcoins for personal use, I do like Coinbase. I know you said you have had a bad experience with them in the past.

They have 0.2% fee on every exchange (i think, it is not a big fee)
