Title: FREE DAILY RAFFLE UPDATE
Post by: krogothmanhattan on May 24, 2018, 10:24:54 AM
When I started the free daily raffle I was only planning to do TWO and stop.

But seeing the joy it brought community members here I continued at my expense giving out free items.

Well it seems my raffles have ruffled feathers the wrong way and someone reported me to a MOd and has one of my raffles now transferred to gambling section.

There always has to be someone right? Oh well....so is life bros.  ::)

No idea why this is gambling as no money is placed in here at all and I am making nothing out of it.

I was under the impression the community enjoyed this as much as I have.

I have a lot to say but aint gonna. I am still in a good mood and will continue to have a daily raffle boys!  :D

When life gives you lemons...make lemonade ;)

  Here is the latest https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4215331.new#new

So the new section will be https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=71.0

Shouldn't this be in meta? I am failing to see how, if your free COLLECTIBLE raffles belong in gambling. Than why should you complaining about it,, be here.  ;D :-* ???

I see no reason to fight this at all. If the mods deem it to be there so be it. Why waste my time in taking something so trivial as this in META?

I posted here to make the people who enjoy participating in it be aware of why and where the daily raffle will be held from now on and that I had no choice but to comply.

Don't want to be PERMABANNED like ChiBitTy for breaking any forum rules. :'(

Too many rats around  ::)

I do this for fun bro and intend to keep it this way. :)

This is ridiculous. As if your raffles weren't already attacked by farmed accounts, this is now going to become much worse unless you make all of them invite only (even then a compromise is possible).

Why waste my time in taking something so trivial as this in META?
Insert Spongebob meme: "CaNt MaKe ExCePtIoN fOr 0.0001% oF lEgItImAtE mEmBers.".

Wait so are all raffles deemed not allowed in Collectibles? I'm confused.

I think there is a distinction between raffles and giveaways, but I might be incorrect about that. If you are selling the tickets for raffle slots, then they are regularly allowed in this section, but I haven't seen any straight giveaways last very long in collectibles. I might be wrong though, don't quote me on it.

I also think making your giveaways invite only is a decent idea, but I can't advocate for it, because I think I would get left out of even more of them. Games and Rounds certainly isn't where it belongs, I would put my money on collectibles, because that's what you're giving away. If someone was giving away a GPU, wouldn't it belong in the Computer Hardware section? I don't see how this is any different.

Make the entry fee something really cheap like 1 ravencoin. Or wait it would have to be in BTC.

So 1 satoshi per ticket. Or make it $1 per spot and make the payment address a charity that directly accepts btc?

Free is free...no money. That's the beauty behind it.

So no will not ask for any money or charitable contributions.

There is no angle here just pure fun

But as always in life there is always someone who ruins it for everyone else.

If the rules dictate that it has to cost something for it to be considered a 'raffle' and not be placed in the Games & Rounds section, then make it $1 entry[1] - 1 ticket per person and dump it to some charity. That way you bend the rules and not much changes. Still, someone has to clarify this.

[1] If you use LN, we could make that much lower. :)

You are right and thankyou for your inputs on this.  ;)

Would need to know what the Mod that did this had in mind and why I was RATTED out to begin with  ::)

I'm sure nobody would particularly mind if you made the entry $1 or even less, it would certainly thwart the extremely desperate crowd (not sure how much that benefits any of us, though). Especially if you were donating the proceeds to an agreeable charity, who could complain?

I agree though, free is free and once you change that concept it really isn't a "Good mood Giveaway", it turns into an atypical raffle, which isn't necesarily worse, but it is different.

But as always in life there is always someone who ruins it for everyone else.

Some people can't handle not being given something once you put the word "Free" in front of it; they already think it belongs to them. Once they don't win, they believe that you've wronged them in some manner and it needs to be brought to justice. Then they'll nitpick your thread and continually report it until one of the mods at one point or another finds a reason to trash, lock or move your thread. At a certain point, moderators probably make things happen just to clean up their mod "to-do" list.

Would need to know ... why I was RATTED out to begin with  ::)

Is it possible that a mod just stumbled upon your thread while doing their job? I know it's a crazy concept, but maybe nobody tattled.
