Title: Anyone interested in the first communist pool?
Post by: BombaUcigasa on September 07, 2011, 10:35:30 PM
Me and some friends are entertaining the experiment of launching a pool that pays miners a fixed share (equal to total production / number of miners). As long as all comrades are sincere and contribute, there should be no issues, right? Very good workers will receive medals and honors, but everyone is equal in terms of revenue. Enemies of the system will be persecuted of course.

What do you think guys, is a communist pool a good idea?

I'll throw my 4650 in it.  And maybe a sempron CPU miner.  Under different accounts, of course, so I get double the communistic share.

Since you know the glorious production of the mother pool, and how many noble workers are pushing the pool for progress, you can even split the 4650 into several workers to respect the party's imposed quotas per worker!

Take care however that the secret police don't see any of your workers slacking, or they'll try to reform them, confiscate their wealth, and deport them if needed!

Sounds good!

Yes, is a good idea if the objective is to push the number of workers toward infinity, while keeping the pool hash rate close to zero.

Do you think there will be no real contribution no matter how minimal? Some people smarter than me think that communism is a good way for society to prosper and remove ineguality. Don't you want people to be equal in rights and retribution, no more rich, no more poor?

I have been poor.  I prefer to be rich.

Plus a lot of my friends that escaped communism under the old USSR do not have kind things to say about it.

You need to find some incentives to perform. Otherwise ppl won't. Not necessarily BTC or money. For example I would suggest weekly competitions where the most productive comrades-miners win an all-paid friday night with unlimited booze and hookers. But that's just me.

It has worked so well everytime it has been tried, right?

I have to say I'm quite comfortable with my current level of ineguality.

But I wish you luck in your social experiment. :)

I know that you need to offer some kind of badges/medals/rewards other than actual direct financial rewards. But at the same time you can't really promote the individual too much.

It has worked so well everytime it has been tried, right?
Well if you ask those that have proposed and implemented it, they seem pretty thrilled, don't they :)

How is a worker eligible for his/her/its payment? Just having submitted a share during the currently active block? Submitting a share in the last x minutes/hours?

Edit: 1st would be unfair in short blocks and might unsettle the comrades as there might be only very few be paid on such blocks, the second option however punishes the poor war veterans that have to calculate hashes in their head and can only submit one solution every second week or so.

Why not just cut the pool out of the picture all together and just have us send our electrical bills for you to pay?

I couldn't find that topic when I started this, this is not original in any way, and I was not implying it is :)

Daily payments could work, and an eligibility criterion (such as contributing above average for 2-3 days). There would be no "blocks" or "rounds". Unless we consider a full day as a "round".

The final pool model should be PPS or PPLNS. Initial stability of the pool will be realized with multi-pool mining, guaranteeing payouts for contributions. If your workers are found to be in the lowest x% least performant workers in the pool, the administration will take corrective measures of course, while top performance workers will be appreciated by the administration. Otherwise the majority of the miners will receive equal shares irrelevant of their contribution, as the Great Doctrine suggests!

Why not just cut the pool out of the picture all together and just have us send our electrical bills for you to pay?
How would that help us secure the bitcoin network by including and validating transactions?
