Title: Merit where for art thou
Post by: ckcharlie on May 25, 2018, 04:03:24 PM
Ive been in the forum for a long time now. I spent a long time just browsing around, reading etc just to see what's happening in the Bitcointalk world while I bought crypto and invested in ico's. I only really started posting on forums in the last few months and have discovered the merit system. I agree it's necessary and a good way to promote good posts however I am still no merit...zero...zilltch...nada.
mmmm I thought, am I doing something wrong? so I read this post :
guide about getting merit by TMAN https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3182178.0
ok I think I tend to come close 'ish' to what he's talking about.
where is the merit? who has this elusive merit? Can someone introduce me to the merit fairy?
I think I'll post more articles.

You're posting on the wrong boards. I looked at your post list, and only 12 are listed. That means the others are on boards that I've got on ignore. I had a quick look at the posts I could see, and half of them seemed to be about the fact that you hadn't picked up any Bitcoin or merit. I suspect you are chasing the free handouts here, and I don't think that is the best way to prioritise your posting.

Here you are looking for some single merit to have.
Well, to answer your question merit source are everywhere so you need to post a genuine post that helpful to the forum.
Just keep on posting mate who knows there is a merit source who like your post and give a merit without knowing you it is cool right?

I think I'll post more articles.
That helps in the community here mate, so good luck

Can someone introduce me to the merit fairy?
lol probably merit faries are looking for someone more worthy of receiving of merit. recent merit stats also shows that merit sources are not quite active, i'm not saying it's their fault but maybe people are becoming more and more shitty by the day, it's not their fault they haven't seen a worthy post in a day.

Which boards Jet Cash? I've only posted maybe 3 or 4 posts about merit out of about 80 or 90 posts...so... not chasing merit through posts about merit. just posting hopefully helpful replies to others posts / questions.

It's not the posts about merit, I think we are all tired of those. My point was that I can only see 15 of your posts if I look at your post history. That means that you are posting on boards that I ignore. The others are on the cesspit boards like Bitcoin discussion, and it isn't very often that I open a thread there.

I don't think that English is your problem, but if you start a thread in the Fit to Talk project, we'll discuss it with you and try to ensure that re-posting it on Bitcoin Talk will receive merit. Whilst we started the international project to help juniors on the foreign language boards, I realised that it can't be international if we exclude English.

Posts should not include any advertising, and should not promote any alts or bounties. Topics could include Bitcoin, general blockchain concepts, non-specific crypto-currency comments, and non-fiat banking issues.

Lol. Your last paragraph got me like nothing before it. If you like make truck load of posts if they're meaningless to the growth of the forum or topic being discussed, you just succeeded in wasting your time. The only way to get merit is don't talk about it, be resourceful, make positive and high quality interactions and you're good to go.

Long time is isn't enough with the merit system only good ang high quality post that counts. Just try to find where the high ranks hangout boards and I'm sure you can get the merit that your dreaming of, because you have done more research already and your english is good.
