This is the second launch, it started at 8pm EST January 24th. We are still in our first 24hrs, and are about to go into Day 2 bonus of 3x reward.

That's great but you didn't really address the issue of all the blocks mined and the difficulty being so high at launch

 Guys i can tell that the first blocks have been mined at our pool as we were first out the block so to speak no pun intended.

Launched last night at 8PM.  I was there at launch in one of the pools.  Diff was .003 to start if I remember correctly, then it got hit by a 5 g/hash within 15 minutes of launch, hence the current mined numbers.  Current hash power is 115 mh/s with a 1.6 diff

So it was launched unannounced for a few pools to mine before solo miners and the general public?
Just want to make sure I understand.

I think there is still a misunderstanding here. This [ANN] on bitcointalk was NOT the launch announcement! We used cryptocointalk for all of our communications. I just posted this here because someone asked why it wasn't here from the other forum. The x3 today and x5 bonus tomorrow might entice some people to jump on a pool.

yourmine.org has 83% of the network hashrate.  That pool is opening this coin up to be forked.  They can single handily screw up the blockchain.  You should ask the pool operator to suspend registration and promote other pools to spread out the hashrate.  Its best for the coin!

Hope that's just a hiccup in the service!  Mining Zed has been a lot of fun for me, I'm new to this so I don't have many frames of reference.  Much better start than Champion (lol) or Smart (first 1000 block  cluster).

I'm assuming they took the zed in the pool and ran....unless they come back online or some other info arises.

I have a miner on Mindfox, it's working fine for me. The pool OP is a very decent guy, this wouldn't be one I'd expect to "take the money and run". Sorry Steve Miller.

zed.yourmine.org has been the pool I've been on the entire time, its been great.  Registration opens and closes to avoid over powering the hash though since its usually around 50%

Guys, I have an issue with the wallet. I had the old one with confirmed coins. I updated to the new one but any old coins or new coins are not confirmed... I deleted the files at %appdata% location, still no confirmation (made backup, etc, wallet data is the same). It says current blocks 56116 and estimated 56109. Added nodes, etc.

Sounds like you need to *completely* remove your %appdata%\zedcoin directory, don't try and copy the old wallet back, the coins are from a different blockchain.

My miners complaint "CONTRIBUTOR HASHRATES" of  MPOS is wrong.

Contributor # rates are based on a cycle of 30 mins not "Hashrate based on shares submitted in the past 5 minutes". so they will fluctuate and are best ignored, how ever that being said sometimes a user can have issues connecting through data centers though this is rare.

We officially Announced Zedcoin's launch on Cryptocointalk. Our bct presence has never been that high, as we've used other avenues to communicate ZED, but we do have dedicated folks following ZED as well as a core staff of major stake holders that are not willing to sell so easily. I welcome all to join in, now is a great time to invest in the coin, still pretty darn undervalued based on the number of coins in existence (almost 8mil). The hashrate is growing, the trading is doing well on MintPal, and we do plan on being selected in the next round on Cryptsy. We are not pumpers trying to get a meteoric rise (and subsequent fall) out of Zed, our approach is the "slow burn".

Someone got some other plans to help the falling prices?

We have both short and long terms plans for ZED. The falling prices are a common trait for coins these days. The charts all pretty much look the same :(
Very small (and constant) SELL orders have not helped the matter for Zedcoin on Cryptsy , whether an autosell for a multipool, or a bot, or what have you.
We're a long haul coin, these fluctuations don't concern us too much. It would be nice to be back to pre-Cryptsy levels however!

DEV GONE, COIN DEAD.

There was a spike in prices between 13th and 16th April after which the dev disappeared, probably after selling his mined coins, he lost interest.

Thanks to the coin's sluggish difficulty re-target, the block chain has been stuck since AGES at 6.5181391. It takes hours to churn out a block.

There's a problem with the wallet -- it hangs the moment I activate the send amount cursor.

There's no dev when it needs the most.

This coin had potential, but like most good coins, (bull coin, O2O, Argentum, pnut, quarkbar, leadcoin), the dev has abandoned it before the crypto could take off.

For a coin that's "not dead" there's been wonderfully little useful information of late. I can't find any live pools, which means solo mining... but it looks like people are playing games with the coin, given the large fluctuations in difficulty and the resulting longer-than-expected followed by shorter-than-expected block times. Best of luck to you, but this is definitely on my "do not mine" list!

But there is problems with the difficulty, so without a KGW implementation, it's not really worth mining.
Plus it sounds like the needs to be a release to address heartbleed.

I've had several hundred coins stuck in unconfirmed at "zed.minecryptocoins.org/" pool all day.  Is this normal or do they have a problem?

Seriously man.......you need to fix your pool!  You have not contact information on your site and I have had coin stuck there all day I need to move!

It's not the pool, its the coin. Looking at the stats, its close to 10min blocks on the network.
It takes 30 blocks for confirmation, so thats around 5 hours to confirm.

This problem is caused by the multipools pumping the difficulty then leaving.
A good example of why Zedcoins is in dire need of KGW.

I would like to start mining zedcoins but I have a few questions first:
1.what multipool is best to mine zedcoins ?

I have no clue whats going on with this coin. Both github sources stuck at 97000, the block explorers are reporting different block heights, there are no active pools mining this, there are no nodes, all exchanges are down for this coin. Basically the fork has killed this coin off.

Per the PM I sent, the versioning has not changed yet, this was an oversight that will be corrected in the next major update coming in the near future.

working and correct pools (at least 4 of your links don't work, one of which isn't even a pool)
working exchanges - cryptsy held our 36000 zedcoins for 24 hours
proper addnode information - supplying one isn't really ideal.

There is so much more you can be doing to proactively help your miners and pool operators than sitting back and waiting for questions to come to you.

Hello, Is anyone still doing anything with this coin?  This thread appears to have about one post a week and the website does not appear to have been updated for nearly two months.  The front page of the website states that "We are excited to share with you what we have been working on these past few weeks." but then proceeds to share absolutely nothing at all other than (with a lot of digging) a white paper dated May 27 vaguely hinting that a move to PoS may be planned.

So, just checking to see if there is a reason to check back in the future or if I should just write this one off.

I'm also can't sync after updating my wallet to v2.2

Block explorer isn't working for me.  Can somebody tell me what the current subsidy is now?  Is it 22 coins per block?

Also, how many coins out now, coinmarketcap isn't updating this number anymore.

Finally, are there any active devs working on zed?  Any big updates planned?  Thx.

market cap is 10k usd, but looking at volume and hashrate the coin is pretty much dead

The block explorer works but it's not displaying the current total outstanding coins. 

Also, ZED went to 11 coins per block in July so it should halve again to 5.5 very soon, correct?

That's the best benefit of this coin, very low inflation but that's worthless if the dev took off and isn't coming back.  Hopefully he'll buy a ton of ZED at his low price and then have the motivation to come back with CryptoGuns blazing.

If any folks in the ZEDcoin community want to get it fixed I found a guy who will do it. But we will need to put together a bounty for it.

Well it seems the dev had great plans for the coin (including being used as currency in a new upcoming game that was in development), but it looks like the dev dumped & did a runner.

Looks like posts on the new game (1BillionHex) on Cryptocointalk has also dried up and the link to their 'holding page' comes up with a 404.

At the moment Zedcoin is looking like a dead body on the ground waiting for 2 more bullets to be pumped into it for good measure..

Got no issues with DODGE love them actually but we added ZED some time back and well the chain is broken just seeing if anyone actually was paying attention to the coin..... We have some folks trying to move it but the chain is frozen.

Unfortunately yes. The Zedcoin wallet on craptsy has been in maintenance mode for months (the coin is forked) and the 'dev' is ready to dump his stash once 1billionhex is released.

Edit: It seems the game developers have had the good sense to drop Zed from their list of accepted currencies https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/6375-1billionhex-the-game/page-6 so yes, the coin is stone dead.

I'm the original dev of ZED. My team decided to let it die after the problems with MintPal, Cryptsy et al. We had a total re-design of ZED for 2.0 (web, coin logo, wallet, etc.) but it was way too much of a headache and money pit to keep going. We paid far too many BTC of our own to get it listed on large exchanges (that ended up stealing, or failing when we'd have a huge run on ZED), and ended up coming out in the hole, every one of us. We pulled the plug.
I've toyed with the idea of a version 3, revamped to modern ASIC-proof algos and such (I was researching them back in 2013, actually, but only had test networks functioning). Maybe, if another dev or more wanted to talk, I'd be open. ZED was an experience I am proud of, and yet have a pit in my stomach the way it was left, at the same time.
