Come up with something original next time. This has only been mentioned a few thousand times, when you include all these sorts of posts on forums and social media.
The 'official' counter is already at 299 times that Bitcoin has been declared dead.

Can't wait till it hits 300, just waiting for some mainstream news outlet to write another article :P

If bitcoin dies then what happens next? Do you think altcoin will grow? Never ever. Without bitcoin, cryptocurrency will be gone away. Be practical mate.

Can we count him as the remaining 1 for the 300?
Come on, people you are free to express your opinion but when bitcoin comes back, you'll eventually see that you are wrong.

I will only say goodbye to Bitcoins when the value drops before $1000.OP is just spreading FUD around on this forum just like numerous people are doing all around us now. Bitcoin is not slow and where does it uses too much energy, it’s the miners that mine bitcoin that uses the power.

R.I.P.. We're definitely a done for this time guys.  ::) there's nowhere to go but to zero hahaha.

You know what's really efficient and brand new? Fiat. If only we could get people to use fiat more our problems would be solved.

Ha ha ha! You shall say goodbye sheep - because for people who were able to grab a bag around 800-dollarish there is no reason to BYE BYE BTC. The only ones who are affected with this dump are the ones who joined during last December's hype. And you know what? Screw them sheep.

There are more future contracts than there are Bitcoins. Prices will be artificially kept down just like future gold prices against physical gold. The true whales are those who control wall street and now they have entered bitcoins. The JPMs and Big Banks have their own crypto that they are going to roll out. They can't have BTC competing with it. So BTC is being put to death 20k to 7k in a short period of time. There isn't enough money that can override future trading against BTC.

What made you think that there are more future contracts than the supply of bitcoin? Can you please include your source? If you cant, I shall consider what you say as hearsay.
Bitcoin is old, outdated, slow and uses too much energy.
Why are you still here then? Your signature is telling me otherwise(because it is still bitcoin related even if it is advertising an exchange).

These big exchanges have programmed ALT coins to crash right along with bitcoin. At first, ALT was bleeding when BTC was running towards 20k. The excuse was everyone was throwing more money into BTC. Now they are bleeding again while BTC is crashing.  All these exchanges are interconnected and ran by the same group of people who are controlling world markets.

Why are you spreading FUD  about bitcoin? If you really a bitcoiner you will continue to support and promote it and encourage people not to give discouragement. Bitcoin will never die as long as market is alive and there is a continues supply and demand. Whatever happen bitcoin will still rise.

Bitcoin is not that old there's a lot of things to improve and if you see bitcoin as old, how about the fiat money which make nothing but to decrease its value. Bitcoin is great, and the price will recover. To the people on panic and think bitcoin will die better to sold your holdings now because this market will collapse soon and never comeback :D

Not so, bitcoin is not like altcoin. Bitcoin is not regulated or encouraged by any institution or company, nothing can stop bitcoin unless the investor already does not want to buy bitcoin.
And I think the fewer bitcoin miners the better the impact on bitcoin prices, as more number of marketable coins will make bitcoin meaningless to buyers.

Oh really? then what will be outcome of alternate coins? will they sink in the soil? If bitcoin is outdated and the market price of this same coin controls other coins, then I am seeing the future of cryptocurrency now. I am not sure there will be a coin with as potential as bitcoin. If the value goes higher energy is no excuse for miners.

i dont think so bitcoin is nowadays abused by so called "bull calls" by whales,

they buy a ton of bitcoin, then spread bull calls in the media like ccn to attract and convince others to buy bitcoin then they sell thill bitcoin drops to a low price and the masses then panik and sell as well.

good luck with this type of industry.

This type of FUD will do more harm than good to the generality of the people as far as bitcoin is concerned, at this period at which the price of  bitcoin is falling there is need to encourage hodlers to keep faith rather than sending fear which might cause panic dumping thus resulting to more price drop.

I've been paying attention to crypto since 2010; my profile here may be new, but I am by no means new to the subject. At this moment in time, as unpleasant it may sound to say, BTC is mostly a major pain in the butt. Don't get me wrong, I am an absolute Believer in Crypto-currency (and I don't mean this as a means to get a Lambo, but for actual, very profound and direly needed socially beneficial reasons) but Bitcoin is starting to become more of a hindrance than an asset, and this is for the following reasons:

  • The technology that underlines it, while revolutionary upon its inception is not fit for purpose. The only true asset that it offers is the longevity and apparent robustness of its block-chain. But judged purely on its technical and performance merits, it’s thoroughly outclassed by several competing systems
  • At present, Bitcoin dominates the public perception of what crypto-currencies are. More often than not, it is used as a synonym for all crypto-currencies when talking to a layman, and it does a tremendous disservice to all those projects out there that are working hard to create better, cheaper, more efficient and better performing systems
  • Aside of being a method to store and transfer value, it supports no additional functionality of note. You might counter – so does money, and that might be true, but combined with the previous point it makes it a lot harder to make people understand crypto can be what you may justifiably call “Money 2.0”, something far more versatile and useful.
  • Bitcoin dominates the pricing of alternative currencies to the point that the success of other projects seems to have very little impact on the pricing of its underlying crypto-token or asset. This is perhaps the most pernicious issue, hampering and interfering with their development, by eroding confidence, wearing down investors... some of which may be immature “When Moon!?” noobs, but many of which are people who really do their due diligence, research crypto-projects, invest wisely, yet fail to see the value of such tokens appreciate in an expected fashion; just because BTC happens to be falling. Why on Earth would this be a good thing… why would anyone (and I do mean anyone, including people who hold BTC) want this to happen??

I greatly respect and (still) love Bitcoin, and it has started a revolution. But I think it is time for a change in attitudes, a realization that while it certainly is the father of the revolution, it’s kids, nieces and cousins are in fact a much better product. Bitcoin will always have a special place in my heart, but it is time for the world to move on and we should be doing what we can to remove it from the dominating role it has both in the perception of crypto-currencies and in their objective valuation.

Bitcoin is old that's true but slow and outdated I think it's false because even it's old let us remember that it is the starter coin in cryptosystem and as of now it's still stands strong and has a better performance in the market among other new coins appears. Negative people are always around and that's reality in any investment platform, we know by the fact that people loves to spread things without a basis
they are just basing things from current situations and just speculate from it, the good thing is there a lots of newbies who's also willing to take the risk

How is this FUD? Do you honestly believe someone might, on the basis of this rather innocuous post, decide that OMG LOL I gotta sell all my BTC now!!!11 or else there goes the Lambo...! Really? This isn't FUD, not even close. This is an opinion. Granted, not a very refined one, but certainly one that has at least a modicum of merit. BTC, compared to newer, more advanced block-chain systems, is pretty old-skool. Nothing wrong with old-skool per sé, but it is definitely true that the entire crypto-space would be helped in no small measure if BTC was no longer its poster-child front-page goto-representative. BTC will always be the first, and the most legendary. But it is time for new heroes to shine...

FUD, in case you are wondering, is the announcement of lies and presenting them as facts or at least seemingly legitimate reasons to be very worried. This thread is none of those things.

Well, in my opinion, it won't die that easily. Just because of some fluctuations in the market. It has been stated many times that Bitcoin is dead. But, here we are. Earning and trading Bitcoins today. The value is just low. And, if Bitcoin dies, the whole cyptocurrency will be dead too. No coins will ever replace Bitcoin.

Classics of the genre, as soon as manipulators press on the market immediately there are alarmists who are ready to bury the BTC, judging by how the market behaves, long red candles, this is purely manipulation for panic here there is no place.

I am not sure really though if you really want to quit on cryptocurrency because i know that you had already gain a lot on it here and able to profit from the investing in cryptocurrency and joining bounty campaign. You have a good rank in the forum and could be able to get a good bounty rewards.

Have you missed some buying opportunity, or maybe have you sold around 6500$? Or i don't know, maybe you are just drunk tonight eheh :D
Only 1% or less know about cryptocurrencies, and 1/10 of them or less have some crypto in their portfolio. Apple's year earnings are more that the total marketcap of crypto. People who own money in banks losing actually 1-2%/year cause inflation.
Make 1+1 and you will find how many "0" will have in its price, Bitcoin, in some years. :)

The 'official' counter is already at 299 times that Bitcoin has been declared dead.

Can't wait till it hits 300, just waiting for some mainstream news outlet to write another article :P

Bitcoin has given exponential returns from an investment point of view since the inception and we don't even have the 10% of the global population using Bitcoin at this stage. Thus, considering the potential of it and the momentum it gained in the last few years, I am optimistic that we will see the upward growing trend and we will have the concrete solutions to the issues which are causing trouble today.

And then what? Miners with all of their computing power with suddenly shift to Bitcoin Cash, hmmm, where the price is below $1K or even mine alt coins but will they got the ROI they wanted to?

Bitcoin future contracts already did impact the price, but I don't think that you can single them out as the main reason why the price is going down the pipe. Regulations all over the world is one of them, but it doesn't mean the bitcoin will just die down, we will recover and no matter what kind of FUD or attacks, it will stand up and prove all of its doubters wrong again.

Plenty of people still haven't reached ROI on their mining investment. Hence there will still be miners whilst there are still people trying to generate a return on the initial investment. And in any case, the entire market is down similarly across the board, when it picks up again miners that weathered the storm will be generously rewarded as their holdings massively increase in value. Plus, people who have already achieve ROI have no hardware costs to recoup, and so are only competing against electricity cost.

if the miner leaves the bitcoin, there will be few miners left, and consequently the mining difficulty will be easy, and if mining becomes easy, the mining costs will be cheap.

I prefer if it is like that, because the fee will be cheap and the transaction will not be long.

but bitcoin will not die.

We need bitcoin miner to use bitcoin or have a bitcoin transactions but the price of bitcoin is not depends on the bitcoin miners the reason of bitcoin price going up and down in the number of bitcoin that are using in the specific time because the higher demand in the market is the good reason that the price will got higher also.

Wrong, Altcoins also flourished when Bitcoin is marching towards $20K. Where are your proof about exchanges being interconnected and run by whales. Another conspiracy theory of yours.

Wrong again. There are no coins that is profitable as much as bitcoin. So I don't think that miners will just abandon bitcoin. Plus there's the looming halving, which will give miners more profits in the future.

Yeah, it's fixing to head down even further. Yet some is hoping for an all-time new high. BTC is fixing to be buried and a new crypto is about to emerge. Controlled by the banking families. If you all were smart. You would move to a new crypto that isn't controlled by Wall Street and these mega exchanges that have pegged some of the big altcoins with BTC movements.

you have proof that the miners abandoned the bitcoin. If it's been abandoned that maybe our bitcoin transactions will not be processed all the bitcoin transactions must pass through the miners. The problem is that the miners of bitcoin are just too high. There are only miners trying out other crypto currency mining.

I told that long time ago btc hype is like different skale altcoin hype
https://www.cryptoproductivity.com/single-post/2018/05/17/Bitcoins-Value-deminishing-due-to-same-Marketforces-as-other-hype-Coins-with-similar-shape-but-other-Scale

The difference between bitcoin in doge coin is that the scale charts are the same as dogecoin only deals with the price of bitcoin. Now what are the differences between them? The doge coin is no firm that supports bitcoin but many companies use it and support it, especially in a large community of bitcoins it becomes stable. At the moment, the collapse of its cause is also very important for false news and government, the first to break bitcoin. It's normal for the movement of the crypto currency market to be more than just a normal person.

It would be easy to say that but hard to be done. You can say what ever you want about bitcoin but you can't deny how much important it is. Bitcon is the origin of all coins and most of them also based in the bitcoin. There's a small probability that bitcoin will go according to your speculation. If you think bitcoin will end then all altcoin will also end. Bitcoin is not like a company-supported altcoin, bitcoin only requires investors.
Bitcoin price becomes the benchmark of all altcoin prices, if the bitcoin price falls then the altcoin price will also fall.

I think the current price is part of the cycle, there is still a price drop of $ 3,000 - $ 4000. and will rise again after halving 2020, and the peak of the price spike will occur about 1-2 years after halving. the current price range after halving, in my opinion will range in price $ 30k - $ 40K

Yes, it will most likely have a huge impact on prices - and the market might take long to recover, but it will not be the end of all altcoins, especially those with products to show (e.g. Veritaseum, Populous, etc.). Most cryptos are not cryptocurrencies, but tokens that can be used to unlock multiple, blockchain-based use cases regardless of the prices listed on the various markets. The use cases are wide and extensive - way beyond the 'store of value' the Segwit + LN hack are aiming for - completely contrary to what Bitcoin is supposed to be, namely peer-to-peer, electronic cash. Luckily Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is going to replace BTC as the real Bitcoin before long (2019-2020).

The entire crypto market is still very young and very much dependent on btc.
I see this continuing throughout this year.
We still have a lot of intitutional players that want to jump in this year and still, the only way to do it is through btc.
ETH is getting there, but still not nearly as accessible.

As the market matures, naturally btc will be replaced and become irrelevant tech.
After all, it is 8 years old.
Imagine still using a smartphone that is 8 years old, 8 years in tech years is like 50 years in real life.

btc is the king of all coins so if you say goodbye btc, I think you are in a hurry, because if btc ends, allcoin will also end

Yes, it will most likely have a huge impact on prices - and the market might take long to recover, but it will not be the end of all altcoins, especially those with products to show (e.g. Veritaseum, Populous, etc.). Most cryptos are not cryptocurrencies, but tokens that can be used to unlock multiple, blockchain-based use cases regardless of the prices.
Well, reckon I should have sold at 9900, damn vacations. With that said, I refuse to sell until it's atleast back at 9k. To all of you other folks panic selling, have fun taking the losses.

Edit: for those of you HOPING that bitcoin crashes, you're working against bitcoin. You wont see adoption from businesses until it's somewhat stable. As a business owner, drops like these hurt pretty badly if I'm not exchanging for fiat on a regular basis.

I agree with you. There is no need to panic sell. There is of course no guarantees, but personally I expect it go beyond the 20k mark before or by the end of the year - at a minimum, there should be plenty of time to get out beyond the 10k mark and/or to make the big switch from BTC to BCH.

That being said, what do you think of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) from a business owner's perspective?

In addition, did you know that it is possible to accept cryptocurrencies for your products/services without taking any currency risk in terms of those currencies? You can then still hold cryptos as part of your personal portfolio, but don't have to be exposed to currencies you don't really wish to hold. Balance is key of course.

Yes, you are right.
But I'm thinking btc's demise will happen later than sooner.

The entire crypto market is still very young and very much dependent on btc.
I see this continuing throughout this year.
We still have a lot of intitutional players that want to jump in this year and still, the only way to do it is through btc.

Right on, but I can't agree with this: "the only way to do it is through btc." There are many other options available.

Quite a number of people including investors have lost hope in BTC even though it has withstood a lot overtime, Bitcoin has fought the governments, attempts by influential persons to drag it down and even warded off the Red zone many times recovering its value, the mining costs has however gone up overtie making it te most expensive coin to mine, sometimes not marching the returns it offers, this is driving away investors and miners away, lets just hope it wont reach a  point where its completely abandoned

I don't really think that bitcoin will be dead that easily. It is already have been spread around the world and many big investors are join and invested in it so it will not reach in very low price. For the past several years, bitcoin always on up and down but it keeps on rising like what happened last year which the peaked price reached $19000+ so I really believe that it will lasts long.

Indeed, right now its hard to kill bitcoin. Goldman sachs as reputable investment banks already opening trading desk for cryptocurrency and thats will make cryptomarket volume more bigger.
I am believe bitcoin is good cryptocurrency and its good investment.

The 'official' counter is already at 299 times that Bitcoin has been declared dead.

Can't wait till it hits 300, just waiting for some mainstream news outlet to write another article :P

Originality is clearly not a strong quality of those 299 participants. ;D I would like to discuss an interesting and unusual topic related to the economy and directly with the crypto currency.

If the bitcoin dies then we do not know what will happen next? Do you think altcoin? Never. so If there is no bitcoin, we do not have any money yet and a cryptocurrency will be lost. It is not okay to say that BTC is going to die. It has been the top ranked coin in the crypto market therefore it is for sure that it must have had faced fluctuation, but is still there in a firm position. However, coins like PRG, ETH are working diligently, and there can be a chance of them dominating the market, which can affect BTC negatively.

BTC is a great coin, there is no doubt in it. But there has been a decline in its value recently. Its prices are high due to transaction fees so the investors are buying coins which they can easily afford and which will give them a good return, for example lamben. BTC shall stay in the market, but its value is unpredictable.

OHHH NOOOO! This is not true, even though the value of bitcoin has depreciated right now. Bitcoin will stay in the market and will not perish. Morever, the demand of bitcoin and its operations as its mining are increasing worldwide. you should rather think of HODLING now the the price is than the death of bitcoin.

Most likely, Bitcoin has a future, and it is quite colourful. Of course, it takes years for the cryptocurrency to get to its feet. As the famous programmer and writer Joel Spolsky says: "The development of good software takes 10 years. Get used to it. " Even in the process of building the service infrastructure, it becomes clear that Bitcoin is developing. It is worth remembering that after several prices fall, many people stopped considering Bitcoin as digital gold. Yes, the bitcoin rate continues to be volatile today, but before we mourn its decline in price, let's think about whether this has happened to stock markets. What about oil? Or gold? Or coal? Even mature assets fall in price due to a variety of factors.

Yeah, it's fixing to head down even similarly. yet some is hoping for an all-time new high. BTC is fixing to be buried and a brand new crypto is set to emerge. managed by the banking households. if you all were smart. you'll circulate to a brand new crypto that isn't always managed through Wall road and these mega exchanges which have pegged some of the big altcoins with BTC moves.

EXACTLY!!! BTC IS FIXING TO BE BROUGHT BACK DOWN BELOW $1000 SOON. You said everything I've been saying including these mega exchanges is all controlled and have tied altcoins with BTC and are manipulating the prices.

I can only say goodbye to bitcoin when its not in the list of top coins anymore , we know and see what bitcoin do to the world of cryptocurrency , and we know that it can change the life of people who have bitcoin because of the gaining of profits from it when its value goes high. Now bitcoin is in dip , it doee not mean its a goodbye because its always in the number spot of the top coins in the coinmarketcap.
