Not directly a bitcoin news story, but so sooooo connected.  This is what we are dealing with when we are talking about big banks.

Good news for btc.

Peace

It's funny... the only reason few people use certificates of deposits anymore is because demand deposit accounts quietly morphed into certificates of deposits without anyone noticing.

This isn't Bitcoin related really. Another thread discussing it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=431572.0

Since this is a bit of an offtopic news I will take the liberty of re-using it to post this also related piece:

BTC/USD/EUR looks very stable compared with a ton of other currencies these last few days.

The comments on the story at huffpo are many and varied, but at least one mentions BTC (Sun, 01/26/2014 - 18:09 | 4369342 Spanky) so maybe that technicality makes it eligible here? Fascinating find in any case.

Consensus seems to be that it's a blip rather than The Beginning of the End, but who knows?

When are people going to learn to vote with their dollars?  If that was my bank I would speak to the manager and close my account immediately on the spot.

If they blocked that, I would open another account at a different bank and transfer £2000 a day until the account was empty.

If we take away our money we take away their power.
