Title: Another Dropbox referral for 1 BTC (offer closed)

Inspired by alexmat's thread (https://www.bitcoin.org/smf/index.php?topic=4284.0) I offer 1 BTC to the first 16 forum members who complete a Dropbox signup. To complete the signup means that you (1) have to register an account by following the sign-up link (http://db.tt/FqvgNCy), and (2) link the desktop or mobile Dropbox app to that account

Dropbox is a great online file hosting service that lets you store up to 2 Gb of data for free. You can reach your files from everywhere with an Internet connection, and there's also a desktop app (Linux, Mac & Windows) as well as apps for Android, Blackberry and iPhone/iPad.

If you sign up using my referral link (http://db.tt/FqvgNCy), we both get an extra 250 Mb of space. Your email address will show up on my referral page and I will send you 1 BTC. You should PM me your email address and the bitcoin address to which you want your bonus bitcoin sent (or you can post it in the thread, if you wish). I will post the transactions in this thread.

Is the Linux client Free Software (open source)? I use GNOME, so the unofficial KDE client is of no interest to me.

The Dropbox client itself can be run in headless mode. The Linux client comes with dropbox-nautilus that integrates Dropbox with Gnome's Nautilus, so that Dropbox is started automatically whenever you log into Gnome. No KDE is needed. The integration also means that you can open and manipulate your Dropbox folder via Gnome.

The dropbox-nautilus thing is open-source, I believe. The Dropbox proper is closed source.

I should think so (but I don't know the exact algorithm Dropbox uses), but that counteracts the way the Dropbox app is working. If you have two [or more] separate accounts on each their machine, you won't be able to use Dropbox to share files between those machines.

I understood what you meant, but perhaps I didn't express myself clearly. What I meant was: If Dropbox gives me an extra 250 MB bonus storage because you sign up, then i will give you another bitcoin.

I've earned 6.75 GB of the 8 GB maximum bonus space possible from referrals. And then there's the space you get when you sign up + some bonus I got from bugreporting, so that would be around 9 GB. :)
