Title: Need ONE x16 to x16 Riser
Post by: Ratman2050 on January 28, 2014, 07:43:43 AM
Powered or not, need it with at least 24cm length, x16 to x16. Shipping to USA.

PM me if you have any, thanks.

If your GPU is not detected with x1-to-x16 risers when you put the PCI-e x1 riser in PCI-e x16 slots on the MB, use a small wire, preferably with solid ends, and jump pin B81 to pin A1. Then your system should detect your card. It worked for me and many others.

When used for scrypt mining, there are no tradeoff when using only x1 bus width instead of x16

Hope this helps, as x16 risers are very hard to find at the moment, especially powered ones.

Wait, you're saying you can put an x1 riser into an x16 slot by just shorting the pins? I had no idea the x1 fit in the x16 slot..

You probably don't need to short any pins to use a 1x in a 16x slot.  I use 1x risers for all my cards because that was what was in stock when I ordered them.  :)

I have some here... They take a USB 3.0 Cable so you can make it as long as you want.  It comes with a 30cm (1ft) cable.

There is a long thread that I can't find right now discussing the short-or-not question when using risers.

Apparently, it's *generally* not needed. It depends on how the MB deals with PRSNT.

For some MBs, some need to do it for all slots. Some only for some slots.

In my case, I only need to do it for x16 slots. For some reason. :)
