Title: bitpay for individuals?
Post by: ffcitatos on January 28, 2014, 11:07:43 AM
Is there something like bitpay for individuals? Meaning, can I sell stuff for e.g. USD using bitcoins as means of transaction?

Say, I would like to sell a car for a certain amount of USD, the buyer pays in BTC, and the BTC get instantly converted to USD that I can withdraw to my bank account.

Thanks!

Can't you just set up a bitpay or coinbase account? You could always just try sell the Bitcoins yourself too.

You are certainly right that one can do it himself. However, for a substantial amount of money BTC/USD volatility is certainly a risk, especially if (fiat) money is needed in the short term.

In the worst case, I will write emails to both bitpay and coinbase and ask about their policy with respect to individuals.

Depends on the price of the car. Also, as we are all too painfully aware, Coinbase operates fractionally which occasionally results in unforseen delays, cancelations, etc. If you qualify, BitPay is pretty solid in my experience.

As I announced at the conference, we are expanding our own services, which often cover the gaps in available services via CB and BitPay. It's not official until March 1st, but if BitPay isn't appropriate for your needs, by all means PM me. We can exchange emails and find if our services can provide what you need.

You can use an app called bridgewalker that will auto convert to fiat value for you.

i looked at bridgewalker and have seen its based on the mtgox api. Couse there is no other information on the website i think they use MTGox as exchange. Not realy a good solution at this time.

A Coinbase account is the best and least painful way to do this imo

Coinbase offers an option to accept BTC and have it instantly converted to USD and sent to your bank account.
