Title: [ANN] EternalCoin voting system - giving back [ETC] ~charity~
Post by: eternaluniverse on January 30, 2014, 04:45:30 AM
EternalCoin will be implementing a voting system which is meant to deal with big picture decisions, the way it work is;
the lead developer or community can call a vote, a vote can be started by the lead developer for free or by the community through a petition.
A petition has 1 week to send 0.0005 of the current money supply to a petition address (currently at around 1700 ETC), a vote is then started with two addresses for "Yes" or "No" or multiple addresses
for a multiple answer vote. All proceeds of the vote will be converted at current rate to LTC and sent to http://www.songsoflove.org/ a nonprofit that cheers
up children with medical, physical, or emotional challenges. I didn't want to reconvert the money again from LTC to BTC as that would take more fees away from the donation,
but that could obviously go up for vote. The address with the most ETC in it after the 1 week voting period will be the answer of the poll, the only rules are;
-Don't start a petition yourself, pm me for one to be started and I will create an address for your petition and post the petition on the forum.
-A petition can be started by a btctalk escrow service if you feel that I will be biased in any way. I will however have to approve that the individual is trustworthy before I tell people to put money into an account in their control.
-If a petition does not receive the necessary amount of votes by the 1 week deadline, every address will be refunded the amount they sent.

Some possible topics you can start a petition for:
-The charity money is sent to
-Voting regulations (minimum petition amount, whether coins are refunded after a failed petition)

The benefits of this is that; the community gets a voice in how the coin is run, we give to charity, and the economy gets stimulation from the exchange being used and money moving hands.

This thread will serve as a way to explain the voting system, discuss it, and keep track of current votes.

main thread: http://eternalcoin.info

The first few petition addresses are here:
Petition 1: Eg7hKZZk1hgejvsHFf6zzUbrsLqRbARNmm
Petition 2: ERk82ySSGqweVd2riKL7uV5YP7trY5c2ws
Petition 3: EPvamD5oThZbbfVtvkb3waiTN7kmaQ2Wcd

To start a petition, you must post here first with the address and petition and then send any amount of etc yourself to get started (0.000001 is fine)

I am self-moderating this thread so I can fix any confusion there will be from multiple people trying to start a petition with the same address.

I have something I need the community inputs on; I have noticed that the network hashrate doubles/quadruples and halves accordingly, this leaves the network with an unbalanced hash rate to difficulty ratio which causes either fast or slow blocks. I have two solutions for this;

the first is limiting the amount of % the difficulty can raise/go down

the second is making the difficulty recalculate for every block.

I have decided that something has to be done, and this change -- whatever it may be, will happen be added to version 1.2 of the client, due to the nature of this update being different (it changes the protocol) the update will be announced a few days before it is released to minimize the amount of people on the wrong fork and pools will be contacted personally.

All you simply have to do to vote is send in ANY amount of ETC to the addresses above, all proceeds will be converted to LTC and donated to charity.
