Title: X79 Sandy Bridge E motherboards - PCIe Heaven? Post by: mikeo on September 14, 2011, 02:09:58 PM Take a look at what's coming in a few months. I know, they'll be massively expensive for mining, but if PCIe 3.0 is backward compatible to 2.0 it could be slot heaven, up to seven (yes, 7!) on a couple of these boards.

And, yes PCIe 3.0 IS backward compatible! Dual 8-pin power... I thought it was supposed to be quad channel memory!?! Title: Re: X79 Sandy Bridge E motherboards - PCIe Heaven? Post by: RyNinDaCleM on September 14, 2011, 03:57:35 PM Oh! I just noticed the MSI, and UD5 do...

Seems like these guys were built specifically for efficiently sucking the power right out of your wall and the green out of your wallet ;) Ah shame, just the Gigabite UD7 has that connector.. |
