Title: X79 Sandy Bridge E motherboards - PCIe Heaven?
Post by: mikeo on September 14, 2011, 02:09:58 PM
Take a look at what's coming in a few months. I know, they'll be massively expensive for mining, but if PCIe 3.0 is backward compatible to 2.0 it could be slot heaven, up to seven (yes, 7!) on a couple of these boards.

MSI BB Marshal motherboard already offers 8 PCIe slots. It costs $400 though.

That board is pure sex!
And, yes PCIe 3.0 IS backward compatible!

Dual 8-pin power...

I thought it was supposed to be quad channel memory!?!

Very nice.  I'm especially digging the SATA power connector if it's for the PCI-e rails.  So few boards offer that.

Seems like these guys were built specifically for efficiently sucking the power right out of your wall and the green out of your wallet ;)

Ah shame, just the Gigabite UD7 has that connector..
