Recently, bitcointalk saw the most posts discussing EOS and ETH. EOS was born to challenge ETH. Do you agree with this statement? What are they fighting for? Technology or speed? Or is it the dominance of the cryptocurrency world? Friends, come here to talk about your thoughts and knowledge!

I think they will just fight over dominance. Most of the cryptocurrency out there are fighting for dominance and the existence of EOS will just be the same. I agree that EOS is a good contender for ETH. However, EOS cannot overtake ETH that easily. Just take a look at BTC and BCH. Many had claimed that BCH will overtake BTC but it never happened. This could be the same case. It's too early to conclude anything.

I personally do not want to compare things yet to be seen or real and too early to compare them. maybe in the future eos can be a rival to eth, but not to defeat him.

Well it was said that EOS is the ETH killer, but I don't know if we will ever have a ETH killer though. The coins is already established and almost ICO chooses ETH as their main currency to accept investment so that alone speak how solid this coins is.

I'm still not sold on EOS though, maybe it was touted as the next big thing, but we can't really say what it can do unless we see it really taking off and really challenge ETH as the second most valuable coins.

And it will take some time to really gain the support and traction from this community. So let's see how it pans out.

This is going to be the trending discussion for a long time, just like the contest between Monero and dash community, I think this is going to be determined by the number of people holding both tokens, for me, I think EOS has the upper hand because the market cap is low and more centralised than Ethereum which is a great plus to it because the decision making on the future of the project would be easy

Ethereum has a significant first mover advantage in the smart contracts 'space' that it's hard for some other platform to get past it in dominance (in that 'space').

Think about it...  What platform did EOS use to get their ICO going?  Lol.

EOS is good project in the market but it never beat the ETH because this is trusted platform and many projects are following the Ethereum technology it will always maintain a top region and EOS is good growing platform this will also raise constantly in the market.
So we should support both the project and these two are similarly going to hype in future.

I don't think EOS can compete with ETH at all. There is a hype about EOS but in pratic I don't see any reason for new projects to choose EOS over ETH smart contract system. If one can challenge ETH that would be NEO, not EOS.

I agree with you, Ethereum still can not be defeated with any Altcoin. I still choose Ethereum which will be in position 2 topmarketcap. may even be able to displace the position of bitcoin.

EOS is still in the early stages of development in the new platform and we can still hope for a new future for the platform. I think the EOS platform could allow smart contracts to work in this network and I'm sure this will happen soon as the EOS trading volume ranks third in the coinmarketcap.

I totally agree that EOS will be one of the biggest competitors for Ethereum, but I don't think that they will be better than Ethereum in the long run. Ethereum will stay behind Bitcoin the next couple of years!

Totally agree. There is nothing to discuss yet. Yes, there are a lot of hype, hopes and expectations around EOS, but for now it's senseless to compare whitepaper project with the running biggest platform for ICO, on which blockchain half of CoinMarketCap top100 operate.

You can not compare EOS vs ETH at least not right now. While Ether have a working product already, Ethereum Smart Contract, EOS is just about to lunch its mainnet, all the raising price of EOS recently is only based on hype and speculation.

comparing eth with eos is just speculation because now eth is still going to be a pre-eminent coin where now eos is just an early coin that does not have any advantage over eth. eth first complete into a very good coin and has a relationship with many ico.

I think the future of EOS will be able to surpass ETH about the market cap because now I see EOS is very potential, rates are increasing rapidly every day and predict June will go to the moon. EOS is a project based on Ethererum's smart contract technology, so the future potential of EOS is more potential than ETH regarding transaction speed.

I think its pretty crazy how they managed to raise of $4 Billion dollars and the mainnet or full source code wasn't released prior.

It goes to show how much money is being poured into Crypto in the last 2 years alone.

It was assumed that 2018 the ICOs wouldn't surpass 2017 but this week that figure was overtaken.

Its an interesting project but in my opinion it seems like it would work on "paper" but no idea if the network can actually work live with real transactions on the line. Right now its too early to tell.

EOS is far from ETH I would say, EOS have not proven anything yet. I find EOS a dangerous threat to ETH since it holds millions of Ether on their wallet capable of collapsing Eth price in the market. I wondered why this project gathered a lot of support and funding despite no product to show at all.

Yeah lol, world of smart contracts. Smart contracts is kinda a thing for the future because it required no Middleman, no 3rd parties. All you rely is on automation of technology
I haven't go through on the framework and structure of EOS yet.

However, i believe challenges is good especially in a new industry. You don't want one project to be the dominant and rule everything but multiple of it would make them wanted to improve themselves time by time
We can say that the major thing they are competing is
- Technology
- Scaling (Transaction Speed, Non Lag Network, High output during mass transaction)
- Adoption in other industry (Financial sector is one of the most look sector when it combines with Technology)

It's silly to compare EOS and Ethereum. Ethereum has no competition except NEO. EOS is an overrated drop in the cryptocurrency world.

Yes I am also looking for the same answer. Well EOS have hell lot of funds for future development which can bring tough competition for all smart contract players in future only time will tell. But in ethereum platform when layer 2 plasma sharding will implement there will be no competitors will left to challenge ethereum. As of now tough competitor of ethereum is NEO platform only, which is bringing quality projects and don't have any case of scam projects till date.

It's too early to compare EOS against ETH. When compared to ETH, the major issue that EOS trying to address is the scalability. However, ETH core developers are already working to address this issue. ETH has the first mover advantage and most of projects and start ups already chose ETH to build their apps and projects using ETH smart contracts. It's not that easy to compete with an established and recognized blockchain like ETH. Therefore, I think still the leader is ETH.

It will be very useless to compare ethereum and EOS, and it's not too early. Ethereum has first and second layer to fix the scalability problem and then the increase the capability of ethereum block to process up to 1 millions transaction per second. I do not think you can win this sane EOS. In the other, it will move in its own way, but ETH will be ahead.

Short term hold would be probably good with EOS but when it comes to long term hold I would still prefer ETH over EOS. As long as people base their ICO on ETH No other platform can beat ETH.

EOS is the up and coming altcoin that is still small and a lot of people don't even know about it yet. they might have heard of it on bitcointalk or elsewhere but they don't have it yet. while there are still a lot of ETH bag holders who can see this potential in this new coin and start dumping their bags to buy EOS.
so there is a good chance that we can see a huge pump for EOS in near future while ETH gets dumped pretty hard.

a difficult choice if looking at both have the same opportunities. investing in them is better. ethereum began increasing and even the EOS is also increasingly showed a positive development. the rivalry between the two is very good and even the ethereum surpassed the EOS will get if you don't have a good development.

I think blockchain wars are going to be there. Despite all the speculation about ETH vs EOS I believe there are other platforms that will give both of them a run for their money. Platforms like Seele and Matrix AI and Elastos are waiting in the wings with very competitive teams. I cannot predict the future only that there are more variables than we are accomodating right now

Eos is just someone's fomo, it cant pass ethereum or others, and I think that eos will be shitcoin at the future, maybe 6 months maybe 1 years later, this is my opinion of course.

Because of EOS' growth, I think it can already beat Ethereum in just 8 months to 1 year. If you are going to look at its graph, it is not impossible that anytime soon, it can surpass Ethereum because of its project development and its team.

Eos is trying to convince the crypto community that they are a better blockchain technology than ETH, but it is not easy to do so because ETH has proven itself to be the number one altcoin and many of the ICO projects are using ETH as their preparable contract, maybe for the years to come and ETH will stop to improve their technology, there is a possibility.

EOS is software that introduces a Blockchain architecture that is designed to allow for vertical and horizontal application of hierarchies. This is achieved through an operating system architecture like those that can be built.

Only time will tell ! Up until now it's only speculations but with the main launch of EOS we will have answers to our questions in the near months. The hardest challenges in front of all dApp platforms are the TPS (transactions per second) and the mass adoption. ETH already has the upper hand in the latter and rightfully they are on top of the mountain. We will see if EOS can keep up with them. It's interesting to follow the war between them and the other competitors so we are all looking forward to the following months and years, but for now as for you question ETH is the safer bet but EOS is the dark horse.

All these coins have potential to overtake big projects.

It will depend on their futur partner and reliability of team and project.

If they go all transparent with team information and a great viable concept, technology and developement following the schedule and talks, then it's a good bet to support.



Most of actual waves on charts are whales manipulation or really nice played promotion campaign and they do their best to make illusion and concept to become REAL.


As investor, you just need to find out if the team is serious and have potential to fight with the biggest, cause they know what they are doing.

But always be carefull, and investigate a bit more than just charting, some team are cheating, that's abvious, and some chart and totaly fake volume.

Ethereum ecosystem is very difficult to cross. Maybe it will take 3-4 years. But most people will support ETH.

EOS is really warm and it is often said that it will be the next Ethereum challenger. but I think it takes a lot of time for EOS to compete with one of the best altcoin that is Ethereum.

Yes they are definitely fighting for dominance like many others. But here the case is different because EOS is giving a really tough competition to ETH. But it would be too early if we say that EOS will overtake ETH. Ethereum is such a great Altcoin and is doing well since its launch. It’s quite tough for EOS to replace ETH as ETH has created a kind of trust among the investors.

I personally think that ethereum is superior to eos and now it is not the time for eos to fight ethereum. It may take time for eos to perfect its platform and make it much better and more popular than the current ethereum.

Very complex comparison and separation of these coins.
 It's not just coins, but whole technologies. The advantage of the ether, I do not touch the technical side, is that he has a great comany. Documentation, practically honed specialists, popularity and simplicity in the form of fame. EOS all this is to be earned.
 If the technology really transcends the ether, which does not stand still, then most likely there will be two parallel platforms with their tricks.

Without any doubt, l give my preference to EOS - this is a new generation project thet surpasses the ETH platform several times, in terms of technical characteristics.

In terms of technical characteristics lets it surpassed eth but in adaption and in general we cant say that it surpass. EoS hasn't proven yet and provide existing services like ethereum smart contracts that has been widespread all over the cryptocurrency.

EOS is just a copy of ETH. How can you give any merits to the EOS team?

All they do is claim to be able to do something better, but it's already been more than a year and they still don't even have mainnet. EOS is a scam and is run by for-profit management of the owners of STEEMIT (even that platform is a scam, just google on how STEEMIT is UNSUSTAINABLE).

Why comparing ETH and EOS in the first when we both know EOS emulate ETH protocol.

If we are basing on its graph EOS sounds more showing capability now while others are affected with the price dump even eth is affected on that but EOS looks rising we can check the graph if what I noticed it right but I think it is too early to say that because we can see also that eth system is more use in the community.

Yes, they are potential competitors, but I think it is very early to be talking about them fighting for dominance as the market as a whole is so immature.

ETH does have a huge first mover advantage, and current market dominance for smart contracts. But the key point I think is that even ETH is used almost exclusively as an ICO platform at present, when smart contracts have the potential to utterly transform day-to-day life, by automating so many menial repetitive tasks.

I'll have to side with Vitalik and Ethereum here. However, you can't blame EOS for trying to capture some of their market because it is still early days in the crypto space. Personally, I don't like Dan Larimer all that much and to be honest he gives me the creeps. Sociopathic vibes and all that. That aside, competition is great and it'll be interesting to see how EOS develops and performs against Ethereum. And not just eth, there are other platforms like stellar, neo and cardano that i'll be in direct competition with. 2019 is going to be a make or break year for all of them. Recently ethereum had a lot of issues especially on it's transaction traffic. So, I guess that is why some are turning into EOS. I guess they are fighting over cryptocurrency dominance and speed. That is why both is a good investment at the moment.

EOS end ETH, the two coins that will compete in the future with each other, which of them will win - is unknown, but now. I would recommend investing in EOS.

In my opinion, EOS is a promising coin, but I think it is not a big probability that it can reach the popularity of ethereum. Ethereum is my favourite coin, because I think its popularity s rising day by day.

Eos had been growing good reaching among the top five cryptocurrency in terms of capital. It has been growing and moving towards the top in a stable manner without any sort of aggression. The separate blockchain and the blockchain one release will make it more effective in its functioning. Also it has termed itself a direct competitor to ethereum.

I don't think EOS is a competitor at all to ETH. NEO has a better chance at doing this and even then I don't think it will.
I see NEO and ETH both being strong competitors but to different users. But as crypto gets bigger, we will need these type of competition between the big players to keep them innervating and accountable to their investors.

As far as I understand, EOS biggest advantage over Ethereum is the scaling. However in a market with low volume and adoption it stays a question if EOS is able to play out it‘s strength. EOS is predicted to beat Ethereum someday, but I think it will be very unlikely. EOS has advanced technology, professional development team, and good scalability. However, Ethereum is still very strong, it is still the best altcoin until now, the capital of Ethereum is very large, only after Bitcoin. Many ICOs are built from the ERC20 platform of Ethereum. You really need to stop asking about this kind of question, we are never going to be able to compare those both coins because they are much more different from each other, but yes, it is true that eos is being a good coin nowadays

The Ecosystem of Ethereum is so huge that no coin on the market can challenge it.

I think your comparison is incorrect. I think EOS is an imitator of Ethereum. There is not much value. It can't compete with Ethereum. Because it is not qualified.

I think for sure EOS will be a big contender in the market for a while. The dev has been involved with good projects already and EOS has been one of my best gainers so far so I'm rooting for it, hell I'm rooting for pretty much every coin in crypto because I just threw my money at the wall (not really I did research of course) and I want it all to stick :)

An interesting topic in which there is no unequivocal answer, but there is an assumption that eos is uniquely going to call the ether and try to move it from the throne. Well, we will only be happy for such an event and will support it.

It's another copycat to the ethereum, the idea of the smartcontract has been copied by NEO, and then ADA, TRON, EOS or even ripple soon. They are all just useless token that can't even create an interesting protocol rather than created another copycat. EOS with its millions line of code and sounds like a broken car for me with so many vulnerabilities.

It's too early to tell because EOS is still a new coin and ethereum has been around for years. If EOS price and market capitalization grow continuously, hitting many all-time highs in the future then it will going to rival ethereum soon. But if EOS turn out to be an ethereum clone, it can't be considered as a contender.

So many EOS holders have been selling their shares after the mainnet has been launched and then how useless 4 billions that has used to pump it. It has no chance at all. 4 billions worth nothin. You should wait a couple of more days to see how the main launch goes. We believe it's a good investment for the long term but it still depends on a lot of factors and involves it's own risks. Right now anything can go wrong and we need to see how Dan and the rest of the EOS team can react to setbacks and if they can solve their issues (if there are any). It's speculative thing but if you are ready to wait a year or two, you might get a huge profit from EOS. Good luck !

How can it not compare? It promises instant transactions that are almost free. Do you remember how Ethereum was cloaked during the rise of the crypto citties? As soon the market comes back there is need for more scalable solutions.

EOS also has good potential, it has many advantages such as fast transaction speed, very low transaction costs, almost free. However, if I choose between EOS and Ethereum, I would definitely choose Ethereum. The reason is because Ethereum is better. Ethereum is the queen of the market, it is always the first choice of many investors. Ethereum has networks around the world. I keep in my investment portfolio both of these coins, in EOS about 12%, and in ETH about 23%.

They just want to be new ETH. But I don't like EOS team because because of them price of ETH is falling down.

I think eos eth is still early for comparison but we do not know what will happen in the future but we need some time to make a comparison.

I think they're fighting for dominance in the future of encryption. However, there are always many theories about EOS, some think it is hype, some think it is not as strong as propaganda! Can EOS challenge ETH in the future? We can only observe it in the future.

I don't think EOS has any chance to challenge ETH cause there are some other better altcoins have more chance to win ETH in the future like NEO :). Of course I also agree that EOS is a really good altcoin but it's not good enough to be a competitor of ETH :D

If I invest in the short term I will hold EOS, but if I invest in long term I will choose ETH, because when I hold ETH I feel more secure, they can make a profit for me in the future. But now is not possible because prices are falling, now is suitable for buying.

I always choose ETH as a coin to invest and hold, my aim is to make a profit from ETH, although the market is now falling, I'm still determined to hold onto ETH, I know for sure ETH is the most potential coin on the Crypto market. Maybe BTC will not compete against ETH.

This game is primarily about scaling, which next gen blockchain is supporting one million trsnsactions per second or more and EOS claims to be above everything else in terms to scaling. But keep in mind all this is just theory, they need to pull it off first and EOS is already struggling with their main net just to run without issues and it isn’t even centralized, the whole thing currently runs on a single database. And let’s just say they work through the issues and are able to deliver, would that mean EOS would automatically overtake Ethereum? Look at the low volume in this market that does not seem to increase during the first half of this year, more peiple are leaving crypto then pouring in the market. Unless that reverses it means zero if your blockchain is more scalable then Ethereum. Just connect the dots and you will realize nothing can threaten Ethereum for the time being.

I'll have to go ahead here and side with ETH. The recent developments with the EOS mainnet launch and ensuing chaos have been far more than troubling. And i don't remember ETH ever facing such glaring issues in the past, so ETH it is. I even prefer NEO to EOS, in all honesty.

Two of these crypto currencies are fighting for who will receive most of the crypto currency market. I think that the winner in this fight will be Ethereum, since EOS can not do anything that Ethereum could not.

In my opinion some projects are epic-terrific-awesome in despite of most of aimless "shit coins". Which are epic?

- Has own cross/side chain
- Has ability to be added other tokens into their sidechain
- Can be use a platform
- Like a container for other projects, ICOS etc.

All those are epic and futuristic&promising features that has no in BTC. However Ethereum, Omise(not sure), BitWhite, NEO and kind of altcoins has that ordered features for to be alive and survive in the future. My favorite ones Eth, Neo and BitWhite as yet.

Ethereum and EOS are competitive even EOS was born into ETH. After cross chain we can add EOS to upper list is which epic altcoins area. However EOS is not older or adult one yet to survive against to Ethereum or for comparing.

EOS has developed a lot of new technology this year..Processes done in EOS are approved in about 1.5 seconds and 600 transactions can be done in 1 second..This figure is quite good when we think that the process done in Ethereum is 15 in 1 second..But EOS is far behind Ethereum on security..This makes Ethereum a better option for us.

EOS and NEO: they are called Ethereum killers because they are perceived to have a better mousetrap than Ethereum.
