I checked the number of posts and found a difference between the visible number per user and the actual number (https://i.imgur.com/V4Qqcn2.png).
The number appears to be true for my account but is wrong for some accounts."If we ignore posts in Serious discussion/ Ivory Tower / mods"

 - KingScorpio:        number of Posts:  3015      actual number 3047
 - BillyBobZorton:    number of Posts:  3211      actual number 3106
 - Jet Cash:            number of Posts:   4007     actual number 3792
 - Theb:                 number of Posts:   1805     actual number 1771
 - d5000:               number of Posts:   4610     actual number 4509

and more.

You need to account for deleted/hidden/removed posts

Do you know...
1. Posts do not get counted in Serious discussion section
Bitcoin Forum > Other > Serious discussion (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=250.0)
2. Both Posts and Activity do not get counted in Ivory Tower section.
Bitcoin Forum > Other > Serious discussion > Ivory Tower (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=251.0)


For this reason you are seeing the difference between their number of posts under their username and actual number of posts on the post history page.  :)

Sorry I did not see the last part of your first paragraph.

I made some corrections and seems like we both have different results. Can anyone else confirm their numbers for the mentioned users?

But it should show the same number for everyone in the history page. Isn't it?

There are gaps in the number of actual posts vs. the post count on a user's profile due to moved threads, among other things. (Can only remember that moved threads add to the disparity. theymos wrote something about this before)

But the difference is strange "For some, the number looks bigger, vice versa", for example, Jet Cash has  4007 >  3792 while KingScorpio has 3015 <  3047

Not sure why you're getting a number, higher than the indicated post number on profile pages but for other accounts, I think you may have other boards (apart from the above mentioned boards) on ignore as well.

On a side note: There was a recount on March, 11, 2018.

Which means "post count (# of Posts) on the profile will be  <= number of post (Actual #) in the post history page" always.

So, lets rephrase the statement that theymos had...
"You have 3497 posts (Actual #). 3 of them are in the serious discussion sections, which don't count. 6 of them are redirection topics, which don't count. So your post count (# of Posts) should be 3488, which is what it is."

Q: Did you make any mistake counting the Actual # for Jet Cash?  4003 and 4195 has huge gap. Click the numbers to see corresponding images for reference.

Now looking at my counting for both  # of Posts and Actual #, it seems like what theymos said is not actually always true. The system is giving conflicting counts. Notice KingScorpio and  Theb - they do not satisfy the explanation that theymos had. I am pretty sure theymos did not notice it yet.

Well that's not right then. We are seeing different counts. I not sure how about others. The gap is huge in between 4195 and 4008. There must more cased like Jet Cash's one.
