Of all the wallets out there does anybody know the percentage of users for Bitcoin wallet type? Curious to know the breakdown.

What percentage of users are using for example Bitcoin Core, Electrum, Armory etc and which percentage are using smartphone wallets over PC such as Arcbit and Airbitz?

there is no way of knowing this because first of all we don't know how many bitcoin users are. secondly these wallets don't leave a trace for example when you use Electrum and send a transaction all the world sees is your transaction and it is the same thing as when you use bitcoin core, Armory, blockchain.info,...

based on what i have seen, most new users are either using Coinbase or blockchain.info. something like 80% of the newcomers.
there is also number of nodes which show how many are using core as their wallet https://bitnodes.earn.com/nodes/ it is about 10k reachable nodes but also there are a lot more which are only receiving but not accepting incoming connections.

another method can be asking for stats on number of downloads of each wallets. this may not be accurate but it is good enough but for that you need the stats from each website. for example from Electrum.org and its github page. this is not publicly available!!

Sorry to say but i don't think there's any specific percentage calculated for each. Bitcoin core along with electrum are doing good and they remain up to date with the technology. explore before you invest.

Actual percentage is hard to explain because there are many users and they use different types of wallet. Newcomers normally use coinbase or blockchain. The easy way to know the actual percentage is number of downloads of each wallet.

Yes blockchain and coinbase could state their online wallets but the actual downloaded desktop wallets from various websites might not reflect the number of people using them.

First of all its a bit difficult for us to know bitcoin wallet type percentages because we don't know the number of bitcoin users out there. Secondly, the uses of bitcoin don't leave a trace of its use, only the transactions will be shown. But you can give a try by collecting informationss like number of downloads of each wallet for gaining the stats.

Exactly, no way to know the number of users, let along the distribution of wallets used. As far as the total number of users goes, I found a fairly recent article trying estimate it:

Based on data from Bitinfocharts.com and Coinbase, they estimate there are between 13 and 28.5 million bitcoin users.

The user of btc is almost 13 million and more based on this most of them have to use wallet and this wallet but it’s the matter that we can’t even know how many of them are using which types of wallet based on this if you search in website you may know the answer but there no accurate data about this.

I think it is impossible to have an accurate records of how many are using a specific bitcoin wallet software because even the creators or developers of this wallets able to trace how many people downloaded it. It can still be not accurate for the reason that a single person can download a wallet two or more times in different devices. So it is impossible like knowing the total users of bitcoin.

Since it is very hard to know the actual percentage of Bitcoin Wallets Users when the Statistics are not publicly revealed, I can only from experience in the Economy where I belong and based on the Crypto friends within my reach gives Account that Electron had a greater percentage than any other is just my own simple observation.

You can diversify your funds if want use mobile wallet, because is most unsecure.
Store primary part on bitcoin core, and some part in mobile and other where you dont have aces to your private keys

I do not know exactly how many percent of people in the world use Bitcoin Wallet. The same person may have downloaded this wallet multiple times. It is only possible to call the wallet inventor only.

BTC and others altcoins wallet try to give their customers highest facilities because its related with money and that’s why we can’t know the amount of users that how many of the people are using this based on this in internet website we may find the probable results.

Well, it is very tough to know this. As the users of bitcoin is unknown to us. Moreover the wallet do not leave any trace.

Yes I understand. The only accurate figures we can get are from online wallet operators and those will tell us how many wallets and how active the wallets are. Any downloads from websites offering desktop wallets cannot really be counted.

HOw will you determine such percentage. It is not going to work. Every wallet including offline and hardware wallet don't have any thing that keep records of bitcoins it retains so it can't account for it percentage usage.

Desktop wallets in use are impossible to calculate though estimations for number of previous downloads might be given.

Numbers of online wallets in use on exchanges and websites such as Coinbase should be readily available.

I think you cannot get the statistic data about bitcoin wallet percentage, unless you do the survey by vote, but that just only a population sample.
Anyway, no matter what wallet we choose to use, the important thing is how to protect our wallet from scammers and hackers.
Everyone should learn about that before start to using the wallet.

I do believe that there are many bitcoin wallet type and some of them coming from ICO projects that are now implementing the project. The same person may have downloaded this wallet multiple times.

I found nothing reliable with regards to downloaded wallets but all online wallet companies and providers know the exact number of users registered and holding a wallet on their books.
