Slovenia’s Largest Shopping Center to Become a ‘Genuine Bitcoin City’

Slovenia’s largest shopping destination is implementing strategies to become a “genuine Bitcoin City.” Coincidentally named BTC City already, the complex stretches 475,000 square meters and is filled with 500 retail stores.

This is expected especially for shopping districts and centers they will usually do the same move as the competition is doing. Meaning if a shop will accept Bitcoin they will also accept Bitcoin in order to be competitive or should I say be the same as there. Just like what WeChat Pay has done to China almost all retailers and shops are accepting it as other shops are accepting it as well. They just want the customers to have all the available option in order for them not to buy on another shop.

Where is Roger Ver with his Bitcoin Core has negative merchant adoption nonsense. If this is negative merchant adoption, then John McAfee is Satoshi.

Imagine how you can just walk in any store and use your lightning client to connect with your favorite stores to pay for everything instantly and near free. Last week I played around with lightning a bit, and while it took me nearly 4 hours to set up a node, the payments themselves were flawless, and honestly speaking, I don't even recognize Bitcoin anymore (in a positive way). I am not used to this level of speed, and the transaction fees make me even feel like I commit theft lol. I think it will take at least another year before user friendly clients are available, but there is no need to rush things. It will give adoption enough time to slowly increase.

I couldnt believe that the thread title was actually real but it is, great news.
It looks like Slovenia has been shaping up to something like this, back in
February The Merkle had this report about Slovenia and its president being
very proactive on new technologies > https://themerkle.com/slovenia-is-becoming-a-target-destination-for-blockchain-companies/

"Ljubljana, 14 February 2018 – Slovenia has always strived to become a
technology-friendly country. Many governments referred to Slovenia as the Silicon Valley of Europe"

It is indeed great news but remember guys to the likes of Steam who can't take the high fees when bitcoin was unstoppable at a $20k price. I don't want to be a pessimist but it  is also just an experiment where people have to wait very long just for their transactions to be confirmed.

This strategy will gradually prove very important for the tourism industry. Countries and cities that are faster to adapt to cryptocurrencies, more tourists will receive. Bitcoin will gradually become an asset much easier to use in tourist destinations than the local currency or the dollar. Currency exchange is something very difficult, full of pitfalls. The number of people who fall in scams, forgeries and other tricks exchanging dollars for local currency is gigantic.

Bitcoin avoids this. It is much safer, more transparent and gradually much more universal and soon with much more liquidity in any part of the world them other currencies.

This is very nice news, instead of the ban and some other unpopular measures Slovenia is chose to become crypto friendly country and this is just one more step forward. This will be very interesting place not only for domestic population, but also for visitors from neighboring countries like Italy, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and many others who will travel through this country. It may be worth mentioning that Bitstamp is also based in Slovenia, so after exchange and Bitcoin City what is next?

I do not know it is important but there is parliamentary elections in Slovenia 2 days ago, some new people may be come to power, any chance this may change stance toward cryptocurrency?
