Title: My Bitcointalk user ID stollen Post by: ShadowBladeX on June 08, 2018, 06:17:49 PM Hi everyone, I wasn't sure where to post this, as I don't see any "contact admin" link, but I haven't logged into my account in a very long time as I mostly just read and don't post alot. I've been trying to login to my account for days now and requesting the "forgot password" link and never receiving anything. I finally now created a new account so I can seek some help, but who can I contact to get my old account back? Someone has stolen my original account and is actively using it!
I can prove that it is my old account if needed. Who can I contact to help me with this? Thank you Title: Re: My Bitcointalk user ID stollen Post by: mk4 on June 08, 2018, 06:23:03 PM Message Cyrus(an admin) and send him/her proof that you're actually the owner of the account, by signing a message through the bitcoin wallet address registered on your stolen account.

What I have is an old post that has my real name is, and my location. I can send proof of ID to get my account back. There's no way for me to look at the inbox that might've possible had btc addresses in them. Title: Re: My Bitcointalk user ID stollen Post by: harizen on June 08, 2018, 06:56:26 PM Can you tell us what is the name of that account? If your account is currently on unauthorized used then it must be tagged by a DT member for security purposes. But honestly, we don't know the other side of story.
I doubt you will have your account back without signing a message. That's the strongest proof you will have. Hope that admins will have a time looking at your case as they are busy. And AFAIK there are some users who still waiting for account recovery even they provide a sign message. Title: Re: My Bitcointalk user ID stollen Post by: ShadowBladeX on June 08, 2018, 07:29:04 PM The user name that was stolen from me is DimensionsOfHell.
The user has not deleted my original posts, and hopefully doesn't see this thread and delete them. I hope I can get it back. I also have emails from a long time ago showing my username from when I received PM's. I can send proof of ID to get my account back. Why would you post your real name and location in public though. :-X But anyway, on the bright side I guess you could send personal identification proof instead. Just send a PM to Cyrus: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=78147 Title: Re: My Bitcointalk user ID stollen Post by: TRAN TRIN on June 09, 2018, 12:53:32 AM Message Cyrus(an admin) and send him/her proof that you're actually the owner of the account, by signing a message through the bitcoin wallet address registered on your stolen account. I never thought that we could still recover our account if in case it got stolen. Thanks for this. It's just that it's probably going to take a few weeks before you get a reply, due to bitcointalk having so much members and the admins being probably really busy. |
