They are just afraid that bitcoins will become illegal and just want to stay away. https://instawallet.org/ is an easy web based wallet. It doesn't currently have a mobile version, but that's why you have a smartphone. Google and Yahoo both have mobile versions which automatically load on an iOS device in the Safari browser. I'd like to see the exchanges do the same. I know Mt Gox has a mobile app but it only works on jail-broken devices. With this work-around the exchanges don't have to get Apple's approval and the mobile version should work on many small screen mobile devices, not just iOS devices.

Off-topic: We're making a DialCoin Android app, but even we're not messing with the iTunes store on this one-- just a mobile friendly page that can be saved to the desktop should be enough. On-topic: The concept of keeping your wallet on your phone is not a new one, and people (even in our group) are working on such solutions-- even stand alone solutions-- but at the end of the day, it's better not to go through iTunes for anything.
