Title: A desktop app
Post by: OmegaStarScream on June 11, 2018, 07:45:01 PM
Summer is soon and I will have some free time so I wanted to work on some things for the community. I'm a C# developer (more familiar with desktop).

I was thinking about making a portfolio/watch addresses application that will support multiple crypto currencies (with a nice UI/UX hopefully) and then expand to Mobile while I'm learning Java but I'm not sure If people are interested? I'm open for suggestions on what desktop application you would find useful.

For the desktop app, I am.

I'm open for suggestions on what desktop application you would find useful.
1. A desktop app that can fetch data from the mining pools (to monitor our confirmed/unconfirmed earnings).
2. Crypto news app (multiple sources).

I would be very interested in the wallet watcher. I want an app that shows an overview of my Nano S coins but I can't find anything good enough. I tried to use a few apps like Delta or Blox, but the first one doesn't support watching from an xpub/ypub/address (only importing it from an exchange) and the second one only supports BTC/ETH/NEO (from the coins I own).

If you do, please support the coins available on the Nano S and show how much is your portfolio worth (In USD and BTC).

-snip-

+1 to TryNinja's suggestion.

I use Delta currently, but am so fed up of having to input every transfer/buy/sell/trade by hand. I would immediately switch to an app that would watch and automatically update from addresses of all the coins I own.

I'm not sure how mining pools works etc. but I will definitely see and probably contact at some point you If you don't mind.

That was actually my plan for Trezor but then I stopped as there is no Library for C#. Ledger have one but I don't have the device for testing etc. unless you don't mind manually entering data because I were planning to make everything automatic, like you plug the device, It will take all your addresses, save them locally and start watching them.

I thought, you want to use java ?  I write most of my desktop code in Java and server code in C++ at the moment.

I'm planning to learn Java using Android just for the mobile app, I'm more comfortable working with C# when it comes to desktop but since Xamarin (C#) is not native, I don't want to use it.

I would also be interested in a nice looking portfolio app. I've tried quite a few apps/websites that offer this, but they're either missing something I need or they're just plain buggy.
I'd be happy if, say, the top 20 coins on coinmarketcap were supported (if that's feasible for you).
